Hey does anyone else have premature ovarian failure? I have it and i have a few questions to see if anyone else has some of the same syptoms i do or if anyone knows anything about it? Sex is very painful for me no matter what me and my husband do. I don't know if this even has anything to do with the POF or if it is a totally different thing. Does anyone have any help? It is really frusterating and depressing. Thanks!
Hi there..I too have been diagnosed with POF..but the only way I knew was by the results of my day 3 FSH blood...the numbers should be lower than 10 and mine were always higher...is that how you were diagnosed? As far as they explained to me it means I was born with a lower egg count so someone my age has a lot more eggs than me. I haven't had problems with pain during sex and I haven't heard of that being a symptom. My problem is more desire as this infertility thing puts a damper on things and I think the hormones I am taking takes its toll as well on the sex drive..You should probably see a doctor regarding the pain...i think it is something else entirely
Thanks for your reply, you are the first person i have talked to with POF. I was diagnosed because i started having normal periods when i turned 12 then they stopped when i turned 15, I am 25 now and still have not had a period since then. I went to the Dr. When i was 15 and stopped having them but they said that could be normal and to come back when i was ready to have kids. But that was too late they then diagnosed me with POF they also said i didn't have enough eggs either like you do. I have been to a Dr. about the painful sex but they don't seem to help! I guess i will just take it day by day and see what happens! But just an update i have adopted 2 kids in the last year and it is so much fun! I love them to death! Thanks for your info!
The pain you are exoeriencing during sex is the lack of estrogen due to the fact that you do not produce follicles (eggs). Its the ripening of the egg each month that produces estrogen, builds the uterine lining and lubricates the vaginal wall. After the egg hatches the cyst (empty egg sack) produces progesterone in case a pregnancy occurs. If there is no pregnancy then the cyst (called the corpus luteum) dissolves and the drop in progesterone causes AF to come. You should look into bio-identical hormones. There are a few doctors in the US who prescribe bio-identical hormones and the hormones come from a compound pharmacy. Many post-menopausal women use them (my sister included). I am usinf FEMHRT right now but when I get the $900 for the testing and the initial visit I will do bio-identical as well. I did DE with my DH's sperm and have boy/gilr twins. I was diagnosed with POF at age 32 after my son was born. Even though my twins are not genetically related it makes no difference in my intense love for them... I had wanted to adopt but my DH only wanted to raise his "own" kids... not everyone is as special as you and your DH... enjoy your children!
