Rough couple of days.

Post by JennLB25 »

I'm having a rough couple of days ladies. Can't seem to control the emotions. I don't know if it's because it's just hitting me that there is NOW no hope of me ever getting pregnant naturally, or the fact that I started AF 2 days after surgery, or a combination of the two. But I just can't seem to keep the tears back. And, to top it all off, I'm still slow on my feet and still am so bloated that I can't wear my regular clothes. I had A LOT of pain last night and only got about 3 hours of sleep then had to come to work my 8 hours here at the office. GRRRRRR...

These men just have no sympothy or compassion. I'm expected at the office unless I'm on my death-bed, and even then, I think their response would be "there's no since lying around waiting to die, you need to just come in and get the work done while you can". My boss actually said something mean like that to me once before. When my aunt was dying of cancer and the family was called in to the hospital because they didn't think she'd make it through the night, I called off work the next day and my boss said, "why do you want to sit around the hospital waiting for someone to die, there's nothing you can do to help her." GRRRRRRRRR I was like, "No, but I can be there for my dad who is losing his sister!!!!!!"

Anyway, adjec can you send some of your PMA my way? :( Sound's like you have a great DH!!! I assume, since your little story said "since the transfer", that you are in your TWW. GOOD LUCK!!!! BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!!!

My DH is great too, he really took care of me after my surgery, waiting on me hand and foot. It helps this whole process be a little easier when you have someone great standing beside you walking through it with you.

Well, ladies, have a great day, I have to get back to work.

JennLB25 I had my tubes removed this past March, and I also felt a sense of loss and just weird about the fact that I was completely incapable at that point of conceiving naturally. Sex was very strange the first few times because up to that point for the prior 3 years the main reason for having sex was to get pregnant! Plus, the whole surgery thing really just wore me down.....I was a mess and very tearful just from the pain and not being able to function normally. It will get better, I promise!

NY I gained 8lbs during the whole pregnancy/ mc thing. That's what I was left with and I was pissed! But it's true I did do quite a bit of emotional eating. Oh well, I guess that is so unimportant in the grand scheme of things. Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Ladies, I haven’t really posted anything since nothing is going on yet, but I had to pop on and say hi.

ajdec – That is awesome that your DH is treating you like that – he seems like such a great guy. As far as watching A Baby Story, I am totally hooked on that and Bringing Home Baby. I dvr them while I am at work and watch them at night when I get home. It makes me feel better about the entire process, especially when they have stories of women who went through IVF to have their babies.

IT'S ALMOST FRIDAY

Sloan,

I think your numbers look good. I understand your concern. My friend just did IVF and is 34, had around 50 antrals and got only 4 mature eggs. They put back JUST ONE at day 3 and she is 18 weeks! Crazy stuff. So I know everyone says this, but its not quantity, its quality. Try not to stress about numbers when you have 6 that look good. Remember, there is a whole range they can take that are mature from 24 to 13 from my experience!

Good luck! Its a stressful process I know!

Jenn I think that once some of the physical pain from this kind of surgery has gone you are left with the emotional pain, and i know its tough - it hit me hard as well, and i'm still sad when i think about it now, but you are in good company on this board, as there are many tubless girls here (unusual to have so many!) Foreverlove, JDC, you and me have all had tube removals, so the 4 of us are in this together!!!

JDC This is IVF #2 for me - i think you asked me that earlier? You may have already told us this, but its tough to keep up with everyone's individual protocols but i wondered what is your protocol? I ask as i seem to remember we had similar issues and responses last time and i am trying a new protocol this time. Last time i did the (antagonist) Follisitm, Menopur, Ganirelix, and this time i will be doing Lupron, Menopur - its not the Long Lupron protocol, so i; guessing its the 'flare'. My new RE thinks it will be better for me as i am a poor reponder.

Karen COngrats on the stims!!!! Wow i cant wait to ge started - bring on the needles!!!!

NY You know i have never had to do an IM injection? Every one was SQ including the trigger and i had suppositories rather than PIO. My new protocol i noticed there are plenty of IM's including PIO. I read your post and UH OH!!! Blood??? Not a fan of that..... Glad you have a good feeling this time...

Lynnie SOunds like a good plan. There are plenty of us doing Nov/Dec so you wont be alone!

Babyhope As far as getting prepared for the IVF, i'm currently taking a host of vitamins spcifically to help the IVF process. For details read my post on page 15 of this thread, where i list them ans say why they are good (according to what i read).

Im also doing weekly accupuncture this time and got a CD off the internet
meditations to help you through each stage of IVF (well, i can give it a go...) i've switched to only organic meats and only eat fresh organic vegetables, cut out alcohol and caffine.....

When start bcp's i will be stepping my game up and doing an aggressive anti-biotic regime, adding baby asprin to my daily pills...

I'm also hoping to do a few other things based on the book i just finished -'Is your body baby friendly'. I remember that you and Karen wanted a synopsis on that so i will put something together asap.....

lynniecat-

thanks so much for the reassurance. the uncertainty is killing me a bit. They tell me your lining is "x", your follicle is "y"... and the whole time I'm like is that okay? is that like a B? or a C+? It feels a bit like being in school and being graded yet you have no control over what happens....

anyway - grow follicles grow!!!

Meanwhile on your post I noticed you said "MD" - does this means you are in california but doing a cycle in Maryland?? probably my error here :)

Kas Both of my previous cycles were antagonist and I think this one will be also...RE said we weren't really going to change much. I wondered about the flare protocol for myself, but I trust my RE 100%.

JDC Well it has been a protocol that HAS worked for you so i guess it would be crazy to mess with it since it has worked. I am with a new RE this time, not because i wanst happy with my last one (who in the follow up suggested another antagonist cycle with higher doses) but because my DH has been relocated untill early Feb, so hence the new RE.

I am in 2 minds about a different protocol - i am a low responder so maybe it will help, but on the other hand, even though i only made 4 eggs, 3 made grade 1-2 embies, so it was quality over quantity last time. Lets hope this new protocol will be OK!!! Kind of interested in seeing if others with my diagnosis have had any more success changing protocols... feeling its a bit of a gamble, but then i guess thats the name of the game with IVF, you NEVER know....

Hi everyone

I am a newbie to the board but not to the whole infertility challenge! DH has no sperm (medical term azoospermia) so no chance of us ever getting pregnant on our own. However after 4 years of treatment (8 IUI's and 1 IVF). We have a lovely 2yr daughter through the help of a sperm donor and now are trying for a sibling for her.

We went through an unsuccessful IVF in May and now just about to try for IVF #3 - this time with a new protocol (microdose flare - I am a poor responder to conventional IVF). I did a month of BCP, now on twice daily buserelin and start stimming with gonal f tonight. Egg retrieval set for last week of October.

Sloan - just reading through some of the old posts. With our daughter they retrieved 6 eggs, only one fertilised and we got our perfect little girl so it is certainly about quality.

Wicked

me - 33yrs old, accountant
DH - 43 yrs old, signwriter
DD - 2yrs old, plays full time :D
ER - scheduled for 28 Oct

Wicked Hey there and welcome to this thread - glad to have you on board....

Sounds like you are just about to get going again with the stims!!! How exciting. I am changing my protocol this time as i'm also a low responder and iwill be doing the 'flare' lupron protocol this time. Funny how i just wondered if anyone was trying this next time, and there you are!!!

Hi Wicked - welcome to the board. That's very heartening to hear your story. It looks like I might get triggered any day now - and I've only been on stims for 6 days... so I guess things went quick for me but only 3 follicles look viable at the moment.. not sure what that means - just hope it works! so I'm hoping for quality....

good luck with your 2nd ivf journey!
