Just a quick note from me as I'm currently at my sisters house in Ireland and should be doing some housework for her!! She had a baby girl yesterday and has called her Aoife (pronounced E Fa) not sure what it is Irish for must look it up. They are both doing well and she will either be home this evening or on Saturday, so I'm trying to do her housework for her.
The weather has been a mixed bag, mostly rain - lots of - but we had 3 lovely days of sunshine, last Saturday, Sunday & Monday which was great as we were at a family wedding on the Saturday.
Hubby has gone back home so I won't see him for a couple of weeks.
Kelly - not long now until you meet your little ones - good luck.
Carolyn - that is great news on finding a local clinic with a shortish waiting list, I looked into one in London (The Womens Clinic) where they do egg-sharing but I wasn't keen on risking sharing eggs from some-one who is also doing IVF - does that make sense?
summer - yes had replied from dr M yesterday and sent more questions back -just waiting to arrange an appointment to go out to arrange all - it is like half the price of UK treatment even taking into account travel and accommodation costs
Pauline - glad you are having a good time and are about to help support your sister - when do you plan to go to the states for treamtnet?
Chris - hello lovey - have you thought about going abroad for a DE cycle - Kelly went to Prague too - it is sooo cheap compared to UK and wait of 4-6 months - I hate this waiting game xx
kelly - not long now till you see your babies any twinges yet??
carolyn, glad to hear Dr M responded. hoping everything works out for you there or wherever you decide to go and that you get all your questions answered and get on the waiting list where you will feel most comfortable, both with the clinic and with the price -- Did you do your previous treatments in England?
pauline - sounds like you will be getting some nice first hand experience there with your sister and the new baby -- great that she has you there to help out during this time. thanks for checking in with us here!
big hello to chriss and kelly! thinking of you both.
Hi summer - yes did previous 2 cycles in Uk - but due to laws changing around donor anomity(sp?) there are now not many donors - hence the long waiting lists - where as donor is still anonomous abroad and gets small payment in uk its all altruistic.
Just something else to try us on our long and winding journey to motherhood
The sun is shinning here today which has been rare of late so best go and make the most of it
hi carolyn, just read your post on awaiting tmt and thought I could give you some insight -- It's been my experience, that that recorded message in czech that you hear when you call is telling you that you are on hold, so just hang in there and someone will pick up the phone, eventually. Good luck!
kelly - all's well in the land of motherhood? please update us when you get a free minute!
chriss - how's things by you? I imagine you must be in the midst of your prep cycle. Hope all is going according to plan!
pauline - hope you are continuing to enjoy your time with your sister and her new baby! when do you expect to get going with your cycle in the US?
nothing new with me -- joined the gym to pass the time and get into shape for this upcoming cycle...feels good to be active again, instead of just sitting and waiting.
hi summer - thanks for that got to call tom am and hopefully get something sorted then - just to have a date for appointment to work towards is a positive step
Good for you preparing for treatment - and it passes the time - once christmas is here your treatment will be just round the corner
Kelly - thinking of you - hope all ok xx
Pauline - how are you??
Chris - thinking of you hon - hows the prep cycle??
Sorry haven't been around. Got back from Ireland at the beginning of the month and have been carrying out enquiries with clinic in the States and also had appt with our old consultant here in London. She has recommended that we also try the Lister Hospital and has written us a referral letter and has also repeated a transvaginal scan on me and a semen analysis on DH. We don't have results yet. The approx cost of doing DE here in UK with Lister is £7k and for States is approx $40K (not sure what that is in UK sterling) - but the 'advantage' of going to the States is, if for some reason it doesn't work and we don't bring home a baby, we will get half our money back.
Will be calling clinic in States later on today to see if they have any appts for late Nov/early Dec. We couldn't go over earlier due to DH work.
Glad you have a plan in place - good luck with calls to clinics
Am on waiting list with Care in Northampton - there list is bout 7 months and £4k - have given up on Prague - they just did not repsond to emails or phone calls - am going back down Spanish route - hopefully in new year - off on holiday on sunday so at least some sunshine to look forward to
I am so sorry that it took me so long to get on and post a message - to be honest I thought I had (new mommy brain I guess).
I am alive and all is well - I had a few hiccups but things have settled down and now I am focusing on getting through my crazy days with twins!
We had quite the experience. I went in for my regular weekly appointment at 36 weeks and the doctor decided to admit me that day (instead of the planned time on Wed) and they started my induction slowly on Tuesday afternoon. By Wed morning I was dialated 3 cms so they started the ocsitosin (sp?) which started moving things along. At 4:00 pm that afternoon they broke my water for baby A and continued with the ocsitosin. At 2:30 am on Thursday morning they said I was ready so they took me to the OR - all twin deliveries are done in the OR in case there is an emergency. At 2:46 AM our baby girl, Audrey was born vaginally and weighed 4.9 lbs. Then the excitement started. Baby B had a prolapsed cord so there was a panic to get him out quickly. They knocked me out and performed an emergency c-section. Baby B, our little boy, Evan, was born at 2:54 AM and weighed 5.9 lbs. Thankfully both were healthy and didn't have to spend any time in the NICU! I woke up at 5:30 AM and got to hear the wonderful news of our Evan from my husband who was holding both babies and sitting next to my bed! It was quite an unbelievable experience.
Things went well for the next couple of days but my blood pressure started to increase a lot. On the day of discharge they ran some tests on me and decided to keep me in because they said it looked like I was developing post-pregnancy pre-eclampsia which is quite rare. The following day they sent me home and just asked that I follow up with my GP. I did and the levels remained quite high for 3 days. So, I went back to my OB who re-admitted me to the hospital for monitoring. I was only in for one day but it was enough - I just wanted to be home and settled into our new routine. Now I am being monitored by a BP specialist who said that things are looking much better. I typically have very low BP so I guess that is why they were so concerned.
Its funny because I had such an uneventful pregnancy but from the point of delivery on it has been quite eventful. At least now things have settled down. Last week I was at the doctors or in the hospital every day - this week I've only seen a doctor once!!
The babies are doing great! We had them weighed on Friday and Evan has gained 2 lbs and Audrey has gained 1.5 lbs. We are quite excited that they are growing so well!
I am excited to read about how things progress with each of you. It sounds as though things are falling into place with you guys and over 2009 I am hoping for some baby news!!!!
Take care...
Kel

Congrats, Kelly!! I love hearing such good stories. Glad you and the babies are doing well, though it sounds like they made a grand entrance. I'm sure you're settling in nicely but I can imagine how different things are with 2 babies!!
Things are going well over here. Just hit 17 weeks and we're going to find out what we're having next week. I think it will make it easier for me to plan everything and it will bring some semblance of normalcy to this whole process. Hope everyone else is doing well! And be sure to read CarolynM's wonderful story on the General Forum!!
congratulations Kelly - I was getting worried as we had not heard from you .. so glad your bundles of joy arrived safely and a pink one and a blue one tooo!!!!
Congratulations, Kelly! Glad to hear all is well! Welcome to Evan and Audrey! I sure you have your hands full, but do hope you & DH are enjoying every minute.
Pauline, welcome back! Best of luck with your upcoming appointments in the States. Do you have family there to stay with when you go over? I can't remember.
Carolyn, sorry to hear things didn't work out for you in Prague. Perhaps they don't have enough help there that speaks English? I'm sure the last few weeks now feel like a waste of time for you. Have you tried Reprofit in Brno? There are a whole lot of women from England who go there -- They seem to all be on the fertilityfriends message board -- It looks quite popular with reasonable prices and a good success rate.
I'm sure you will settle in somewhere soon enough!! I wish you lots of luck. And - have a nice holiday! I think your trip is coming up soon, right?
Kelly CONGRATULATIONS
