New to IVF. Emotional rollercoaster.

Post by JennJenn »

Hi friends. I guess I need to strat preparing myself for what's about to happen. I had surgery to remove fibroids in September and the doctor wants me to wait 2 menstrual cycles before proceeding. Well I am about to start cycle 2 and preparing to meet with my RE to discuss starting IVF Cycle #1. What should I expect? How long does this entire process take?

Welcome aboard. My entire cycle will have taken about 6 weeks. I started with Lupron injections for a couple of weeks. Then they started me on the stimulating med Follistim. I was on that a total of 8 days, but I over stimulated & they had to do the egg retreval 2 days earlier than normal for the regimen I'm on. Therefore, on day 8, my DH gave me the HcG shot. A day and a half later was the retrieval. Some people don't think the retrieval is that bad, but I'm not one of those people. The clinic I use do not use general anestisia. I was awake all through it and I felt it despite the Valum & pain relievers. They did get 9 eggs though & 8 fertilized. Three days after retreval, we had the embryo transfer. We had enough good embryos to wait for a day 5 transfer, but we opted for day 3. I am now waiting 2 weeks (2ww) for a test to see if my littles took. I had 6 embies after the transfer. Five made it to day five & were frozen. On October 30, I have the beta test. Wish me luck.

Welcome,

I started the Lupron on Sept 15th and then on the October 2 we started the lupron and menopur shots. On October 10th my DH gave me the HCg shot and on the 13th we did the retrieval. They took about 19 embroyes out and only 13 were good. We had to freeze them for some reasons or others. I like Catlady did have alot of pain with the ER and it took about 1 week to feel normal again. 4 days after the ER my Dr. did an u/s and my ovaries were still so swallen and I had about to cyst on each side so we have not done the transfer as of yet. We are hoping that by December my body and everything else will be back to normal and we can do the transfer.

Good luck :D
