Okay, this is weird... Any ideas?

Post by Fluffypuppygal »

Hi guys,
Remember last week when I was worried about some small spotting I was seeing? I went to the doctor on Friday, and he said everything baby-wise was fine, and dismissed the spotting. (no cramps, no pain, no actual red blood or bleeding or clots, just tan to light pink small smears.) They didn't draw any labs. They said all looked at it should for a 30-day-old pregnancy.
So yesterday (Monday) I felt pretty nauseated and not myself. I couldn't seem to think straight. No cramps, but my cervix had felt sore for days. The spotting apeared to be tapering off.
Later around noon I went to the bathroom and was shocked to see a lot of bright pink blood wipe off! It just happened once, then quickly tapered off through the day to never be seen again.
But here is the thing, the next time I went to the bathroom there was no big blood smear, but there was a small fleshy piece of protein-looking tissue at the bottom of the toilet. It also looked like it had been vascular at some point. It was too small to easily get out of the toilet and take as a sample - just big enough to notice when I turned around.
Ever since these two instances, I have felt good again, had energy, and don't feel sore or crampy. (I never did feel crampy) The spotting is entirely gone. My cervix isn't sore anymore.
So what was all of that?
I have talked with different friends, and so far the theories have been mixed:
Was it a piece of cervix being sloughed off?
Did I miscarry and simply have no signs or symptoms because of the progesterone?
Was there a twin which was already dead by the time the doctor did the ultrasound and it just wasn't detected on the ultrasound? (I had been spotting for a few days before).
My next appointment will be on Oct 31st. I haven't called my re because I figure there isn't much they can do either way until my appointment.
I was wondering, though, about maybe taking a HPT this weekend to see if it still registers positive. (After 30 days, it should register accurately if everything is still good! Right?)
So let me hear from you guys.... Do any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas? Any advice?
Thanks!

Fluffy...wow, I have no idea what that could have been. I would call your RE anyway and just tell him what you saw. Maybe he could shed some light on it for you.....as for the HPT, i think that HCG stays in your urine for a while even after a miscarriage, it takes a while to go away.....and even if your beta was 1000, if you miscarried it might drop to 100 but HPT can detect HCG as low as like 25 (some of them anyway)....I myself dont think you had a miscarriage....do you still feel pregnant?? Sore boobs, anything? Did you have your first U/S yet??

I had the same thing happen to me. I got a confirmed blood test on thursday. My second one was scheduled for monday. On Sunday, I started to have brown spotting, mostly when I wiped. Sunday afternoon, I noticed a small tissue like thing in the toilet. It was so small, it freaked me out. Monday's numbers came back high so they said everything looked great. They said brown spotting was normal and it was a good sign of implantaion. Monday and Tues, maybe 3 more times I seemed to pass something. It was brown and tiny. I had an appointment today, and they said it was probably just old blood getting pushed out, that fetal tissue was pink in color and not to worry. The spotting is gone and I feel good. It is hard not to worry when you finally get your BFP after so many years of trying. I am sure everything is ok!!

There was so much blood involved when I had my miscarriage, that I can't even imagine an embryo coming out like that without a rush of bright, red blood :? I'm not expert (not even closed!), but I don't think that was your baby.

Sorry you have to go through so much stress, I would definitely call my RE and ask. Sticky baby dust to you!

Thanks guys! (and you, too Lisa!)
It is a relief to hear I'm not the only one to have delt with this!
I have my 2nd ultrasound on Halloween, so I will know for sure then, either way!
No more spotting, no more problems or anything weird - just HUGE fatigue, occasional mild cramps, and little things. This has been such an emotional rollercoaster! When do things settle down?!? :-)
