Hormone levels

Post by katefirth »

I wonder if anyone can help me.

I am currently on day 6 of stims on my second IVF cycle (I am on a short protocol as they believed I was down regulated too well last time!). I have just had my hormone levels for the day and been told that I am only at 675 (should be 1000) I have been on 450iu of Fostemon since the 1st day - has anyone else experienced a slow start? The same thing happened last time but we assumed it was because I had been on Buseralin for 2 weeks before the stims. I was advised to stop the last treatment but I insisted I keep going until the next scan which showed 7 follicles (3 good sized) - they got 7 eggs, 6 of which fertilized. I had two replaced -ve, and 2 frozen the others didn't survive. I recently had FET with 1 embie (other didn't thaw properly) that was also -ve.

Am I just a slow starter, is it my age? Does anyone know if this is normal? I don't want to have to fight to get to EC as I did last time. I wouldn't mind but I am paying for the privilege!

Thanks to everyone

Hi Kate, I am a poor responder and I have always gone a few extra days before I am ready for EC and it seems to be quite normal. Everyone reacts differently which is why they try different things so please don't try to stress too much. Sorry I can't be more help, good luck with the rest of your cycle
Lots of love

relief to find someone else!

Post by katefirth »

Thanks Kat

It does feel good to find someone else who has gone through the same thing - my RE is a little too quick to cancel cycles which makes me think that they are much more interested in statistics than actually helping you conceive (I have become very cynical!).

My rates have almost doubled over the last two days so things are looking a little more promising - it's just so frustrating to think with all the stress of the IVF cycle you have the additional stress of convincing them to continue with it (and I'm paying!).

Where are you up to with your treatments?
