Need IVF(emotional) support!

Post by abp »

Hello -
I am new to this message board. I have been through IVF once - but that was cancelled due do to poor quality eggs. We then went through IVF - egg donation - that resulted in a pregnancy that was lost at 7 weeks. I had some blood test done and I have Lupus Anticoaglant Antibody (I don't have lupus) that can cause miscarriages. My Doctor has me on one baby asprin a day to 'cure' that. Anyway, we have started the medicine for this round of IVF. My transfer should be around the middle of November. I am just looking for someone (or more) to talk to about what I am going through. It is so hard on your emotions. If anyone wants to talk please let me know.

I don't know your age but since you are using donor eggs i think you would be a good fit on our over 40 doing ivf buddy group (not everybody is over 40). Go to the ivf board and you will find us. We are just getting started and are still a small group. Two of the others are using DE/Dembies.

I would like to encourage you, if financially possible, to only take pgd/cgh tested eggs. With vitrification of eggs/embies it is now possible to transfer eggs/embies that are genetically normal via CGH or partially normal pgd. You do not have to be synchronized with the retrieval of the donor. You just do an FET later once the eggs/embies have been tested. The reason for this is that recent research has shown that 60% plus of donor eggs are genetically abnormal. I think it has something to do with stims which allow eggs/follies that normally would have gone through atresian are kept alive with exogenous fsh. Just a guess.

You may already know all of this, if so sorry but many people are unaware of all of this.

Good Luck. Come on over and join us if you would like.

For Abp

Hi,
I too went through one IVF cycle through egg donation and got pregnant with twins only to lose them both at 8 weeks. I have a high level of NK cells and blood clotting issues so we will be on Heperin, baby asprin and I have to do IVig transfusions before the transfer! I just started Lupron 8 days ago and will start stimming next Friday. We have 3 frozen but I wanted to try to see what I could get myself with this new doctor. I am right there with you abp.. You are not alone!

Hi ABP: My name is Liz and I didn't use egg donation for my twins but I understand needing someone to talk to. I went through this hard journey myself and know how heartbreaking it can be. I'm here when ever you need an ear. I also lost an ivf baby last year so you and I are in the same boat there too. Big hugs and lots of baby dust!!!!
