Hey girls, well my pool is done and I have been enjoying it for about 3 weeks now. Luckily it has been a bit warm still out my way. Nothopless, my new cycle started on September 4th (Day 1) so I should be ovulating around cycle day 20 or 21 because I am on a 31 day cycle, So I will use two vials. One 12 hours after positive OPK and one at 36 hours after OPK. We shall see what happens. Wish me luck. So how are you and baby doing Kery? Hope all is well.

Hi Rainbowmoms-
Glad to hear you're giving it another try this cycle. I'm back on the bandwagon too and my cycle day 1 was 8/30. I had an IUI on 9/9. And I go in for bloodwork on 9/23 if AF doesn't arrive early, like all the times before. Keep us posted on how it goes and how you're feeling.

Hi again Rainbowmoms-
It's been a little while... my last IUI failed so we met with the doctor to discuss IVF last night! Oh boy, what a huge step. I wasn't sure if i was ready to move forward or if I needed some time to mentally prepare myself... but I'm 90% sure we'll go for it.

First they need to do a saline ultrasound to make sure the uterus is healthy. Then I guess the cycle will start when I get AF later this month. They'll put me on birth control pills as well as Gonal F (starting at 250) and a drug called lupron to suppress ovulation. After egg retrieval they have me do progresteron suppositories until the pregnancy test. I'm sure you know all this since you're scheduled for IVF in January.

We discussed chromosomal issues, growing the embryos for 5 days and freezing the rest, risks of hyperstimulation and twisting/loss of an ovary (yikes!) But I figure if we try IVF I atleast have a chance of getting pregnant. If I lose an ovary i'm in the same boat i'm in right now.

The only obstacle for me is that I have major anxiety related to medical procedures. I pass out while having blood taken for God's sake! I nearly hyperventilate before every IUI. So for me, IVF takes a lot to wrap my mind around and the doctor offered me valium for the egg transfer. I was like "what about the retrieval? that's what i'm most scared about..." But we all laughed because we know taking drugs is a bad idea and I'd want to do what's best for the baby. I just have to suck it up and be a big girl. I tell myself they do this procedure everyday.. heck, even my two sis-in-laws went through this. And as for hyperstimulation they monitor with bloodwork every 2 days.

So I guess my next step is the saline ultrasound later this month. Then get on birth control and take it one day at a time. I probably should suck it up and try acupuncture as well. From everyone I've talked to I hear great things. And although its expensive it would probably help with anxiety and stuff.

I'm excited for you to start your cycle soon too. Keep me posted.

Hi ladies,

Well I am new to this IVF thing as well. I started the lupron on 9/18 and then on 10/2 I started the menopur 2 shots a day, which my DH has to give me in the butt area. I go back on Tuesday for my 4th U/S. This is our first attempt at this thing so I am pretty overwhelmed.

Hi Kery-
Can't believe only 12 weeks to go... I lost touch with another woman and got a hold of her yesterday. She's scheduled for a C-section in mid-Nov! I can't believe how fast time flies.

Barb- How are you feeling? How are the follies growing?

I should start BCPs late next week and then begin my IVF cycle soon after. In the meantime I'm going to have fun this long weekend and go apple picking! It's beautiful lately, here in New England. :)

Hi you all, sorry I have been out of commission for a while. I have been taking care of my elderly parents. I have been so overwehlmed with them that time has gone by so fast. Well January is right around the corner. NOT HOPELESS, I am so glad to see that you are doing IVF. I know you will get your baby soon. Yes, acupuncture is a good think. I love it. Not only for pregnancy but it also makes you feel better health wise. KERY, OMG 12 weeks. I can't believe it. You are so lucky you will be holding your new baby pretty soon. Well, and the rest of the girls that I don't know yet. I just want to welcome you and wish everyone the best of luck. I missed you all.

Hugs.

Hey great to hear from you rainbow! Hope your parents are ok and you're not running yourself ragged. Yes, I can't believe I've started my IVF cycle (it'll be extra long since I have to have a saline ultrasound next week then wait for insurance approval to start the injections. But right now I'm estimating ER to be around Thanksgiving...) and OMG Jan. will be here before you know it! Def stay in touch and I saw a Dec/Jan IVF thread you might want to join. I'm on the Nov IVF thread and it's so great all the strength you get from the fellow IVFers. :)

Hey ladies
rainbows as not hopeless said I hope you are looking after yourself also. It's a tough job being a carer!! I hope your parents are doing ok!!

Gosh you will both be on the ivf rollercoaster soon. Everyone is different but I didn't find the ivf much different than the iui's apart from the ER part of it all. I'm sure you will both do well as ivf gives a much better success rate.

Me well nine weeks to go and counting. I can't wait to meet this little person that seems to enjoy sticking it's toes between my ribs most of the day!!

Hi Kery-
So i know I should know this already but if you have 9 weeks to go it looks like you're due right around New Years!! I want details after the birth... sex, weight, name, etc! :)
