Does anyone want to share their statistics? I am an accountant and I find it fascinating to know how many follicles, mature eggs, eggs fertilized and embies transferred. I started injections last night, I am 31 and want to know what to expect. Someone had told me that first timers expect a lot of follicles/eggs and fertilization with frosties. Sure, I am thinking that but perhaps it isn't realistic...anyone care to share their experiences?

This was my first cycle & I am close to your age. I am 32. I guess there are so many variables that it would be next to impossible to do a reasonable analysis unless there were thousands of participants. However, I'll share my experience. I hyperstimulated. That means my estrogen shot through the roof while I was on the stimulation meds. The last day they measured it, it was 5200. According to my RE 3500 is the "danger zone". Therefore, they had to do the egg retrieval earlier than normal. I had about 26 or so follicles, but most were not mature. They need to measure between 18-22. Many were between 13-17. They were able to retrieve 9 eggs. (I might add that where I go, they try not to produce more than around 20 eggs. They think more than that causes them to be of low quality. Twenty six growing follicles was a little on the high side for them.) They were fertilized overnight & 8 fertilized. They thought this a very good number considering how early they took them. On day 3, we had 3 8 cell perfect quality, 3 8 cell near perfect & 2 6 cell perfect quality. The clinic I use only allow day 3 & day 5 transfers. They will only consider a day 5 transfer if there are at least 5 8 cell perfect or near perfect embies. According to the nurse this only happens 2-3 times a year there. We qualified. However, we did the day 3 anyway & let the others grow. On day five we had 5 out of 6 embies to make it to be frozen. The other two were transferred to me on day 3. I see Thursday if they take. Where I go, there is about a 50/50 chance for someone in my age group with our stats to get pregnant each fresh cycle. It is a little lower for FET's.
Best of luck with your cycle.
I have PCOS and although I didn't hyperstimulate.. I created a lot of follicles. I had close to 60, at the time of retrieval. Some of them were large (23-25mm) where A LOT of the others were very tiny.. (still measuring in at around 12-13mm) My RE office didn't want to risk losing the large advanced follicles in hopes to get the other, smaller follicles to catch up. After 15 days (!!!) of stims.. i had my ER. They retreived 11 eggs. Of the 11 eggs retrieved, 7 of them were mature. Due to male factor, we had all 7 fertilized with ICSI. Of the 7 eggs fertilized, I had 6 that did well. One of them arrested.
My 6 embies did so well that I made it to the 5 day blast transfer. My clinic performs 3, 5 and sometimes 6 day transfer. I had 2 blasts put back in. I had my first beta on 10/26 and my beta was 215. Pregnant! My second beta was today and it jumped to 538! so, we are doing quite well.
Unfortunately, my 4 other embies that were doing so well, did not make it to the freeze.. so, I have no frosties leftover. I am 32 years old.. so we are also close in age.
Hi - I am 30 and just went through my 1st IVF cycle... unfortunately we got a BFN. I had 17 follicles, 14 eggs and of those 10 fertilized. We had two 8 cell good quality embryos put back in on a 3 day transfer. We have 3 embyos that were able to be frozen. An 8 cell and two 7 cells.
Hope that helps and good luck with your cycle!!!
Hi, Im a little older than the rest of you (39, tubes tied) and after 11 days of stims only made 1 follicle. My follicle had an egg and my ET consisted of one 6 celled embryo on day three. 2 weeks later had positive beta and just last week saw my baby's heartbeat on ultrasound at 6w2d. God Bless in your cycle!
well baby hope this is a very interesting thread..i was having similar questions-
so me- (you already know most of this from our other thread), my first cycle- cancelled, only produced 1 follie,
2nd cycle- only produced 2 big follies, went to ER anyways, at ER they also found 3 very small follies, they got 5 eggs! the 2 mature ones both fertilized, both transfered. first beta was 430 (likely twins) MIRACLE, u/s at 7 wks showed 1 heartbeat (94 bpm- which is on low side) and fetus. m/c 12 weeks- unable to test remains..likely died around 8 weeks.
now...recent cycle, produced 10 follies, could only retrieve 9 (one was stuck to blood vessel- dangerous to remove, and was small anyways). all 9 had eggs! they said only 5 were mature (which puzzles me, as by follie u/s it looked like at least 6 were mature, possibly 7), out of the 5, 4 fertilized. they said the 5th one 'didn't fertilize normally'
i'll keep watching this thread as i'm curious too! thx babyhope.
38 yrs. DOR, TTC since '04, recommended DE but didn't listen 3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)

Heisable-congrats on your miracle, that is a fantastic story and goes to prove it does only take one. Please stay on the boards and encourate the other women, blessings do happen. Thanks.
KMHTTC-I am so sorry to hear of your BFN, you are fortunate to have frosties, do you believe you will use them next cycle? There was a woman on another board I was on that was following her cycle with another fresh cycle. We wondered why she didn't use her frosties and she said she has to use the insurance money to her advantage. I hope I have frosties, sounds like not many people do.
Karen from Oct/Nov and Harleyloo from Sept/Oct boards. Great to hear from you ladies again. I am so glad you shared your stores, I like to read them all in one place. I didn't know that level of detail so thanks for sharing. Also, I heard from someone they had several on day 5 and the RE pushed for day 6 transfer and lost everything...we can learn a lot from each other. I had never heard of a 6 day transfer.
catlady-OHSS is my great fear but it sounds like you were through the roof on numbers but it turned out ok. I took 100 Clomid and had an ovary the size of a tennis ball...I had 4 giant follies, 27, 28 etc. which I thought they may be cromozomalically large or something was wrong with them but two fertilized during this IUI and I miscarried. Hummm. Well, thanks for calming my fear of overstims and that your cycle wasn't canceled due to that, any hospitalization? They just took the eggs early? I am scared of that too because I have delayed everything due to my DH being out of town. Was this your first cycle? were you on 600 and 900 follistim? What had you tried before? Clomid? Did you react to that?

babyhope1: Hi, and I would love to share my journey with you. I'll start with the first cycle.
Ivf#1: I was 27 and I stimulated for 10-12 days and produced about 10 mesurable folicles. They raised my dose of bravelle and menophur after about 4 days. They retrived 9 eggs from me, 8 where mature. We were in an egg freezing study at the time so this is how things went down. They froze 4 eggs before fertilizing them with ICSI and 3 of those didn't survive the freezing so I was left with 5. Of those 5, 4 fertilized but 3 didn't make it after 24 hours. So we were left with 1 almost perfect embryo to transfer. They transfered it on day 3 because they wheren't taking chances with only 1 embryo. We got a BFN on that one.
IVF#2: Again we stimulated for 10-12 days on a higher dose but this time only my left ovary worked for some reason. Again, they raised my dose about 4 or 5 days in. We got maybe 8 measurable folicles on the left and only 2 on the right. They once again took 9 eggs from me. Of the 9, 8 where mature and 5 fertilized. We made it to blast with all of them and to improve our chances of getting pregnant my husband and I pushed the clinic for a transfer of 3 instead of the 2 they recommended. Tehy where all really great quality and my dr. strongly advised against more than 2 but we insisted. We froze the other 2.
We got a BFP on that cycle and found out we where pregnant with just 1 baby. We had problems from the begining with slow rising betas and the sac and fetal pole not being seen at the right times and where told we where going to miscarry. But then we thought we had a miracle happen because all of a sudden there was a heart beat and teh baby's growth shot up and we where told we where most likely going to have that baby. I was diagnosed with a missed abortion at 14 weeks 5 days when I woke up to heavy brown spotting and the ultra sound at the hospital showed no heart beat. The dr's said the baby had died some time in the 12th week and stayed in the uterus until the miscarriage started at almost 15 weeks. I had a D&C the next day.
IVF#3: After the miscariage where so heart broken that we wanted the best possbile out come, so we chose not to go back for our frosties but instead to go for the gusto with a full fresh cycle.
They started me out on the same dose I had ended with on the last cycle and that seemed to do the trick. I again stimulated for 10-12 days and this time both my ovaries did great. I had maybe 18 measurable follicles and they got 15 eggs from me!!!!
Of the 15, 14 where mature and 13 fertilized. I went to blast again and transefered another 3 almost perfect embryo's. Another 4 made it to freezing but the other 6 didn't make it at all. We got another BFP this time around and are currently preganant with boy/girl twins. We've had no complications so far and are due on April 14th!
I was 33 when I stimmed. I had 24 follicles, 19 fertilized. They let them go to 5 days cause there were plenty. 6 ended up being good quality blastocycts. We transferred 2 and froze 4, got a BFP but miscarried very early. Then, 5 months later we did a frozen transfer and became pregnant again with the little boy I am due to deliver in 9 weeks.
best of luck to you!

I was on 225 units of follistim the first 4 days, 125 units on day 5, and 100 units on day 6 & 7. We had tried Clomid once during an IUI. However, it caused the lining of my uterus to be so thin, I could not possibly get pregnant. After that, we tried Femera for a couple of IUI's. However, I never got more than one large follie with those.
My RE told me there was a higher risk or OHSS with my estrogen levels, but recommended we go ahead & do a fresh cycle. I was happy to do that. The chances are better fresh. However, I did have a choice to do a "freeze all". Then we could have tried later. They did give me a drug to help keep me from getting OHSS on the day of the ER. However, I cannot remember what it is called, I was hopped up on Valium at the time. They gave me four bags of it through my IV. I wish I knew what it was, I would look it up on the net to see about it.
Tomorrow is my test day. Wish me lots of baby dust.
1st IVF-Slow responder

I Did exprerience moderate OHSS and it was awful
Thought I'd let you know. I got a BFP today. My number was 834. The nurse thought it was great. I have more blood work next week & then I will have an u/s 2 weeks after that. I'm so excited. Wishing everyone else lots of baby dust!!!
CATLADY!!!! AAAHHHH!!!! Congrats!!! That is fantastic news. That is high, I am thinking twins. My betas were 235 and 532 with twins ... July 2nd and 4th my IUI was June 16th. So, I am thinking that is 17 and 19 DPO.
Sorry ladies, I have to pick it up later, I am running to acupuncture right now...

Thank you! It is great. We are thinking perhaps it is twins, but of course will be thrilled with a healthy little one. I hope to see you all with BFP's really soon.
