IVF GETTING CLOSER... I'm so excited :o)

Post by Lady_J »

Hello Ladies.... just to recap. I am 31 yrs old, been with OH 15 yrs... we have a 10 yr old daughter. Natural conception & birth, got PG in 200 and had Eptopic Tubal PG and left tube ruptured and was removed. Was told right tube has minor blockage but dont see why I cant conceive on my own. Was diagnosed with PCOS in 2007 so was put on Metformin Treatment for about 4 months, but brother passed away in April 2007 so stopped Treatment due to depression. In May 2008 went back to Edocronologist and was placed on Metformin again but she told me to get referral to Fertility Specialist cuz I was still not getting PG. Got referral in July, went to Fertility Dr in August, started Lab Work with September Cycle.

I have done sonogram, 3 day bloods, SA, Blood work for HIUV, STDs, etc... I have done all my IVF Lecture, Counseling Session and Injection Trng in September. Started October Cycle on the 7th. STarted BCP on the 11th-31st. Started 20u Lupron on the 26th.

I thought the injections would hurt, honestly I do not feel a thing. The needle is only like 1", and I inject on front thigh. SInce I have to keep the Lupron refridgerated, it is cold. So the injection is not bad at all, but the Cold Lupron stings a little tiny bit, nothing major.

I talked to my nurse today just to have an idea what happens at this point. Well, according to her since my last BCP is tomorrow the 31st, I should be starting AF this weekend. I will go in on Tuesday, Nov. 4th so I can be started on stimulations for about 10 days. According to her if all goes as planned, I plan on doing ER on or about the 15th and ET the 20th. Aaaaahhhhhh, I can just scream. I am so excited. I didnt think it wuld be so fast. I feel as if am dreaming.

So far I feel fine with the Lupron, no major side effects. I just hope stimulations go just as well.

Just had to vent. ANyone else doing ER/ET in November??

thanks for sharing. I am doing ER and T in December. I am on BCP right now. My DH is away on a trip right now and I guess I have had some time to think about this whole process and I am scared. I am so glad you shared what is going on...makes me feel silly for being scared about this.

Oh Hun, YW. I am scared too... maybe more nervous than scared. After meeting with my Fert Dr, I was so releived, and more understanding of the process. It was when I received the Box full of injections and needles and medicines and pills, that it finally hit me that this was it.

There r 2 size needles, the 1" that I am doing with Lupron and will be doing with Follistum... I am past that scare... The fear I have to overcome is with the progesterone, cuz the needle for that is about 3" and that goes in my rear outer butt. ANd since I cant reach back there to do my self, my OH will have to do it for me. Once I get that out of the way, I think my nerves will come down alot.

I just didnt realize how fast this month has gone by and hopefully I will be doing ER in about 2 weeks. I really do hope to get my BFP in early December... It will be a great Xmas Present for our family.

So, how long have u been TTC? DO u have any other children?
U can always email me if u want to know progress or any other info about the IVF treatment. aztechoney@hotmail.com

Hope it all goes well for u and u get your BFP. Good Luck !!!

Lady_J - Wanted to wish you the best of luck with your cycle. I will be a little behind you . Should start stims on Nov 7th. ER the week of the 17th. I was so scared my first cycle but I found this board and reading what all the other ladies were doing, helped me out a lot. I became a lot more familiar with the process this way and knew kind of what to expect.
Yes, the lupron needle and follistim are really easy. The PIO needle takes some time to get used to. I have a big behind so it doesn't really bother me, I just get a big bruise at the injection sites. Other people have a really hard time with them. It is just one of those things we have to do to have a child so we have to get through them regardless. Keep us posted with your cycle.

2 have fun.... TY... I hope yours gets u a BFP as well. I noticed u siad this was your 2nd IVF cycle... I'm sorry the first didnt work for you. That is what I am afraid of. That is why when it is time, I am going to transfer the most allowed.. 2-3 with hopes that at least 1 or 2 will stick.

So the PIO injection is the hardest? That is what I was afraid of. I have a meaty behind too, so hopefully i dont feel nothing. I'm scared... my husband laughs cuz he says, you can take the pain of getting tatoos witht he needle constantly scraping u... but u r afraid of the needle injection once a day? Yeah I know but it is different... look at the size of that thing i tell him :P

I will def keep u posted with cycle... u too.

Lady J- good luck with your cycle, hope everything goes well for you. I too was afraid of the shots and quickly found out there was nothing to fear. The stim shots were painless and the progesterone shots (even with that long needle and the location of the injection) is not even close to as bad as I thought it would be. Just make sure you rub and massage the injection site after each shot so you wont develop lumps. I take alot of progesterone each night (3cc) and its very tolerable (I too have a good sized behind, I think that helps :D )

Hello! I'm new to this message board. It's great to hear that their are other people going through the same thing we are. Here's where I currently stand.... I started Lupron in mid-October after I ovulated. My period should be here tomorrow or Saturday and then we'll start the injectables soon after that. I'm really excited but also pretty scared. If all goes well our retrieval should be around Nov. 14th.... I've seen "DH" on message boards but never "OH"....what does the "O" stand for? Maybe that's a dumb question.

I have endometriosis and have had two laparoscopies in the last year. My husband and I have never used birth control so we knew we'd have trouble conceiving naturally otherwise we'd have gotten pregnant. So far we've done 3 months on our own using Vitex, then we were on Clomid for 3 months, then we did an injectable IUI cycle....then we had my 2nd laparoscopy before we invested more money on IUIs, etc.....turns out I had mild regrowth of the endo but my tubes are open and my ovaries are free...so there's no seen reason why we can't conceive naturally...therefore they recommended IVF.

Did anyone have a delay in getting their period while on the Lupron? I read that it's a side effect and am nervous that it won't come tomorrow or the next day. Usually I have more symptoms by now.

Anyway, it was great to read all of your postings!!

Good luck to you all!!

HEISABLE, thanks for calming me down. I guess I am nervous for nothing. Does anyone do the Prog. injections themselves or does someone have to do them for u?

TKAT, U and I are kind of on the same cycle. Tomorrow, is my last BCP so I should be getting AF on Saturday or Sunday.... unless Lupron delays, which I hope it doesnt. I heard some people say, but does it effect if I am on BCP? I figure since my last in-active pill is friday the chemicals would force it to come down or however it works... (trying to be technical) :? Anyway... I will say many prayers for us all.

As for DH (Dear Husband) and OH stand for (Other Half). You can say either.

Well, lets keep each other posted.

Good Luck!!!!

I haven't had the problem of lupron delaying my cycle, but it has made my cycles heavier. I guess everyone has different side effects.

TKat - Welcome, good luck on your cycle. I should be right behind you also with your cycle. Seeing that you have done injectibles, IVF shouldn't be anything too new. Just ER and ET. Plus you have to be a little more careful after ET then when you did IUI. Keep us posted on your cycle.

Lady J- I gave myself my own stim shots but my husband gives me the progesterone. With the location and angle (and that long needle!) I just cant give it to myself although Im sure there are women on here that give their own. Just have your husband do it, have him stretch out the skin with his hand and insert the needle in one quick movement with the other hand, like throwing a dart, but at close range (and more gentle of course). That way you hardly feel the needle going in (maybe just a little pinch, if anything). Thats how my RE told us to do it....maybe your RE has other tips. Heres my story:

11 days of stims (1 vial of menopur, 300 follistim, 5 lupron-Twice a day each, so 6 shots a day).
LOW RESPONDER
Had only 4 follicles but by the end of the stims, only 1 follicle made it.
Follicle had and egg, egg fertilized..
ET consisted of one 6 celled embryo.
3 days of strict bedrest (could only get up to pee, etc. no shower/bath, no walking around)...Spent alot of time PRAYING.
Pos beta on 10/1 with a 34
2nd beta 10/3 with an 87
First U/S on 10/21 at 6w with a hb of 120 bpm
God gave me a miracle.....my RE said I had a less than 5% chance.
This was my first IVF. I am 39 yrs old with tubes tied.
My dad told me it is God's will that we be fruitful and multiply. Pray that God's WILL will be done. Baby dust to you!!!! :D
