Congrats ladies, there is some real movement and excitement starting now...

Someone had asked about miscarriage rates with IVF and why IVF patience are obsessed with not telling due to miscarrying. I personally lost two babies so I certainly wouldn't wish to tell anyone perhaps until well into the second trimester. I live 2,000 miles from any family so I can get away with not hurting them again that way, nor myself. Anyway, the reason may be that I read that birth defects and problems with miscarriage etc are slightly higher with IVF women than without simply for the fact that IVF babies are generally from an older population perhaps with complications (which is why we turn to IVF). I personally believe these are genetically perfectly created geniuses that will be blessed to have such loving parents with a strong marriage (that has survived hell and back). That is just my personal spin.

Anyway, ladies with needle fear. I have to say the "units" shots are nothing. I use them with lupron now just starting injections. I honestly can not even feel the needle. Except last night, I went to slow and certainly felt, got a spot of blood but I know exactly why, it was too slow. So insert quickly!!! It certainly looks scarrier than it really is. I too was the one with night sweats and vivid dreams but those went away, I am getting used to the meds. I too wondered if it was still working but those without symptoms, it is! We just adjust...no more sweating for me so I stopped keeping my spare shirt by my bed too.

I love you guys, can't wait to hear more! It WILL happen for us, just don't put too much pressure on yourself. It also helps if I set my deadlines a week later than they are, helps my mind think its going faster, and I expect every bump in the road.

hi everyone!! ET went great! two were implanted, both graded as 'A-'..that's a good report card in my opinion (thanks for asking wonder) :D .. one of them had divided into a 6-cell, the other a 7-cell.

and the other 2 were frozen!!! -it's strange how exciting that part is for me and my DH..we've always responded so poorly...we're both pretty weirded out by having some in the freezer.. the clinic was sooo nice today. my RE hugged me!! kinda strange..but cool. the nurses are amazing too.

gina- wow 20 growing! that's awesome..lovemybaby- i totally get the 'injection paranoia',, it has driven me nuts !! - my only remedy for that was to always re-read the injection instructions before each injection (even though i could probably recite it by heart)..and i made sure i didn't pull out the needle immediatly after the plunger went in (as instructed with gonal F- depress the plunger completely, and leave it in for 5-10 seconds, while still holding the plunger down,)- this way none can leak backwards into the syringe.

and i'm not sure about m/c stats and IVF..i was told my m/c rate was only about my age group, no other factors. as i had a m/c last time- it's funny how that's effected me; on one hand, i think 'what are the odds of that happening twice?' and i feel confident, and on the other hand, i worry a lot about it. i just have to keep focused on one step at a time

robin- ER for you on saturday !!! woo hoooo, awesome. ps. if they ask if you want 'extra sedation'...i'd suggest taking it.

and JDC, i was sad to hear about how you're feeling like you're setting yourself up for disappointment  ...i've been there not too long ago.. it's a rough place to be. i actually didn't let go of that feeling until after the first u/s..and that was the time period where i started seeing a counselor too..i mentioned that before on the thread- she said after the initial assessment that she wanted to help me with my 'negative thought patterns', and i instantly thought she was full of ^#$%, and that that was a real crappy idea......then i thought (ha ha), that maybe she was onto something. please don't think i'm pressing that idea onto you, just sharing my experience and now i think it's kinda funny. seeing her helped, but really, it's been my response to treatment that has really changed my outlook. i hope wonderful things are ahead for you so that you can enjoy a more joyous feeling.

anyways, i'm now in the 2WW!!!

I totally hear you about the arms. My right arm's veins are always so hard to find so they kept alternating between 2 on my left (of course this was after they tried my right - the bruise is only now beginning to fade!). This has been going on every day since Saturday. Tomorrow - 1 more and then I'm guessing the IV on Saturday and then hopefully they'll have a chance to heal before the betas!

karen - Awesome ET report! I'm so glad you had some to freeze too! Sending you lots of sticky vibes!

I trigger in about 40 minutes. I hope I remember how to do this one... :-)

Hi everyone

Sorry I have been MIA. Just going through the whole ER and ET roller coaster. We had ER 28 Oct and got 5 eggs (one less than last time). 4 initially fertilised and in the end we ended up with 2. We had ET today and put back a perfect 8 cell. We have another 8 cell still growing at the clinic which we will freeze depending on its growth over the next couple of days. We are stoked we have made it this far and figure that we have done everything we can now, its really up to our little embryo now.

I have been reading through a few of the posts and just want to give a little hope to all the ladies out there stimming. Don't be too disappointed if you don't get the number you were hoping for. Our almost-2 year old daughter is absolute proof that you need only one. From our first IVF we got 6 eggs and only one fertilised and that one is now tugging at my skirt wanting mama so have faith and believe - it DOES happen!

Take good care everyone. I am off on a weeks holiday now - time to put the feet up and have some me time. :P

pregnancy test scheduled for 11 Nov.

Wow, I've been off the site for a few days and really missed alot! I just wanted to let you know that I am on my 6th day of stim. shots and I had another doctors appt. yesterday. They saw eight follicles that were a good size and several more they said could grow to be a good size- whatever that might be at this point. My lab work all looked good also. I was happy to hear that news. I have to go back Saturday for another ultrasound and blood work and then again Monday. RE said the way it's looking now, it will probably be next Wed. or Thurs. for my egg retrieval. I'm getting a little nervous about it. For those doing baby ASA, what day do you start taking it? Good luck to everyone in their 2WW and to all those elsewhere in their cycles!

Happy to see so many updates. My period finaly cames after 5 days delay. Now it seems that 3 weeks' down regulation is not so long since the delay. There will be blood test on Nov 5 and start to stimulte. Hope everything go well.

Yeah Karen! Now we have another in 2ww! It sounds like ET went great and you now have 2 perfect grade A embies. So nice that you ended up with some to freeze. I wish I would have had that option but maybe there was a reason.

Gina, you must be well on your way and getting excited about a possible ER next week. Hang in there.

Robin, how did the trigger go? I found it interesting that I used Ovidrel trigger shot when I was doing IUI's, and then they switched me to the HCG powder to mix with the water solution once I started IVF. Is that what you use?

Hi Wickedwheel. Good to get an update from you. It sound like you joined the 2ww. Thanks for sharing your story about your daughter. It's very encouraging to hear that she came from the one fertilized egg on your first cycle. Enjoy your holiday time!

Amanda, I'm not on the baby aspirin but I'm sure some others can give their input. Good luck tomorrow and Monday.

I'm thinking of you all and praying for us each day!

Karen First....wow! You actually have frosties! That is so exciting and congrats on being pupo!! Second, thank you for your comments on how I've been feeling. It's funny because I was just talking to DH yesterday about possibly seeing a counselor.

I had a terrible nightmare last night about ivf! I dreamt I missed 3 days of medications because my clinic didn't call me with instructions and I forgot. It doesn't seem that bad, but I was freaking out in my dream!

But I know everything will be fine...I hope I can squeeze out some more eggies this time! My RE said he would put back up to 4 in me!

Have a wonderful day! :D

Hi guys,
Just checking in... The trigger shot went fine. We used the mixture that wonderce was talking about. The mixing part went fine but trying to pull it back into the syringe took longer than expected so we ended up triggering a minute or two after my "exact" time. I hope that's ok! Just went in for my ER instructions and b/w & blood pressure. I'll share with you my ER instructions and post meds because it will help answer the baby aspirin question and maybe other questions too. This probably varies by person but this is what my RE recommends...

Gatorade beginning today.
P4 in Oil beginning retrieval day and for 3 more days after (until transfer if day 3).
Medrol (anti-inflammatory, I believe) beginning on retrieval day for 5 days.
Doxycycline (antibiotic) beginning on retrieval day for 5 days.
Baby aspirin beginning day after transfer until further notice.
Progesterone vaginal inserts beginning day after transfer until further notice.
Estrace beginning six days after retrieval until further notice.

Hope this helps!

Also, my RE does 2 beta tests but we don't get a call after the 1st one. I also think it's interesting that the instructions specifically say not to do an HPT because the results may be inaccurate.

That's it for today. My ER is tomorrow morning at 9:30. I'm really nervous about it. Anyone have any comforting words for me? :-)
