Carolina girl, love the Miley photo. We did not dress Stephie up this year since not so big in the U.K. In the states we did like WC, but only had our neighborhood and we put out a huge blow up pumkin and played scary music and a lot of other stuff too. miss that.

WC, Stephie is an archer as well. I guess that why she rolls around so easily. She's still working on crawling forward. Bought the animal train this week and she loves it.

Books, I really like Baby 411 for toddlers. Very fun to read.

Cocoa, glad you got the dog stuff sorted out.

Right a question:

Ellie has been on solids for about 5 weeks now, Ive been advised to start with small 'lumps' in the food, so I added minces chicken, pasta, and sea bass in different feeds.....but, although she is trying it,she is not eating as much as she was when she was on purees.
Is this normal?
Will I need to increase milk supply because of it?

SHe certainly doesnt seem to enjoy her feeds as much as she did, but will at least try most things, the only thing that I've found she doesn't like is mashed potato even if its mixed with other vegetables, so do I:
Try her again in a few weeks?
Avoid it all together?
Or keep persevering?

re: solids...mine didn't even start until 5 months, then only had rice cereal for the first 3 weeks, then sloooooowly I added veggies.
Now they are on fruits and turkey and chicken...will ad a beef baby food later in the week...
Other than 'lumps' of oatmeal or barley, mine are on the purees...I won't do the 'lumps' until 8 months or so...

as to not liking certain foods...well. If I had to eat plain potatoes I'd dislike them also! My husband reminded me the only way he'll eat certain foods is if they have garlic, salt, and are sauteed in olive oil.
So I don't expect my babies to like peas (they hate them) or green beans (not tried them yet) either!

Halloween was a BLOW OUT ... this year I hired my gardener and his wife to give out candy. had more fun that way...had people over, chili, went up and down our MAD crazy street...and, oh, gave out at least 1,600 pieces of candy. people were STILL coming for more. YIKES!

Hey Girls...

Bumpin' us up - we really need to say hi a little more often!

Babies got the first half of their 6 mos shots yesterday (at 7 mos old). They are doing really well - scooting and getting around great. Gee I can't wait unitl they are both walking...RUNNING...in two different directions! I did get and indoor play yard. Its got EIGHT panels and you can reduce it to 6. It is 34" tall. They have plenty of room in it too AND its portable. I got it from One Step Ahead (I think that's what its called).

Wow! Cocoa! Sounds like a great playard..I looked it up and it read that it's 30" high...does that sound right?

I bought a Summer playard and it's great...30" high...I really, really wanted a diff one but it was only 23" high! my boy is already 29.5" long...so he needs a high playard!

My au pair arrived last night. She's sweet...but it'll take 2 weeks or so to leave the babies alone with her..>I have my other sitter training her.
I still get nothing done cuz I am home all day with the sitter and babies...
sigh.

Hey WC... I checked - it IS 30" but I did find one for 34" it was just not big enough in diameter. I can't remember which brand that was... I LOVE this one. It up to my hip and even though my baby boy is 28" they do not grow quite so quickly now. Besides its pretty sturdy as far as knocking it down might go - I think that would be impossible. BUT it can be pushed/moved pretty easily. I don't find that to be a problem because the babies will still be inside and as with all things - you cannot leave them unattended here either.

I am somewhat depressed these days. I just think it would be nice to have another adult in my life to share all this joy about the babies. The other thing is that there will be cuts made in my dept THIS YEAR and I am not sure where I stand. I do have a contract but that doesn't mean I can't be placed in a classroom - any grade up to grade 6 - and that would be disasterous since I have been out of the classroom for almost 14 years...
Please pray if you have any faith at all...

My au pair is elegant. Love her...

but the old sitter? won't leave. Not kidding...she loves the babies...I just can't afford her!!!

Hello everyone,
We just got back from Hawaii 5 days ago. It was soooooo nice!!!!!! I was very nervous about the flight , which was 6 hours , but Tesa did OK. I was expecting much worse. We went to Maui for a week and took my Dad with us. Let me tell you, if it was not for my Dad we would not have a vacation, because Tesa stayed on the schedule and went to bed every night at 7 PM, so we wouldn't be able to go out at all.
Also, he was a great help during the day as well

BUT Tesa is sick now, she has a cold, which I think she from someone one the plane

My Dad has been with us for almost a month now and he is leaving on Thursday. I am so sad

On the up side I am going to VEGAS for my Bday for almost 4 days with one of my girlfriends and DH will be taking vacation to take care of Tesa on those days. I am super excited !!!!!!

Well ladies, here I go again. Here is a posting I made on the infertility site. Feeling a little blue as my own eggs seem to be dwindling and poor in quality:

"Hello everyone. I've migrated from the parents board back to fertility board. I am happy to say I am the mother of 2 twin boys using donor eggs. We had to resort to donor eggs because my first daughter died from a maternally inherited genetic disorder that we learned about after her passing.

We are now being told that perhaps the mutation was new in my daughter an would not repeat itself. So, we are considering a round in the future with my eggs. I froze 6 embies when I was 39 (was bummed I didn't get more back then because I had 18 follicles, 8 eggs and 6 fertilized).

Well, now I'm turning 42 this week and am frightened to learn that my egg reserve is virtually non-existent. I just did another round (to get as many eggs banked as possible). I had 9 follicles, only 7 eggs and only 3 fertilized! I was totally freaked as I thought at least 5 or 6 would fertilize (We did ICSI too) given a great history of fertilization. DH is young with SUPER sperm so I know it is me.

Here is my question, anyone go through a couple of cycles at my age and have significantly better results in one cycle over another? I only have 3 of these embies and question whether they are even good quality (we froze them at day 2). I have never had a fertility issue (my concerns have always been genetic) UNTIL NOW and I think I am having a really tough time facing the reality of my age. I'm beginning to feel very inadequate/ancient, etc.

I hope I am not sounding insensitive given that we have just been blessed with TWO beautiful boys. My heart is still set on the possibility of having one that is genetically mine and hopefully another little girl."

How is everyone else doing? Cocoa, Woodcliff, etc? Boys are growing so quickly (already 7 mos!). They are adorable, but need a little sister in the next couple of years.

Well Stephie has two teeth and is crawling all over the place. She is 7 months tommorrow. She has been crawling for about 2 weeks. I set up a site for her on shutterfly www.stephanieannesequeira@shutterfly.com. It was fun and easy to do.

Anyone into digital scrapbooking? I would really like to learn how to do this.

Vlada..... what a great trip, Hawaii. Maui is where my DH and I were married. Have fun in Vegas.

hello everyone, sorry I've been AWOL, it's all been a bit crazy. we've been back in the UK now for 2.5months and in that time we've had to find a house, buy new appliances, open bank accounts....you name it....thought it would be way easier. My girls are now 7.5 months and are so much fun. I'm trying to wean them off the boob at the moment and am there with one but the other one has regressed and now refuses a bottle! It's never easy with twins! both are having 3 meals a day, are rolling around the room at high speed and milly looks like she is about to crawl any day now. Aoife just spins on her tummy and seems happy at that for now.

If anyone has any tips on getting from boob to bottle I would appreciate it. I may be should have done it before solids as that way she would have got hungry is I refused her the boob - now she just waits for me to give in or for her solids so I worry she's not getting enough milk.

also If anyone has any advice on moving from stage 1 to stage 2 foods I would also appreciate that too. I keep trying them on stage 2 but they both gag!!

Will try and catch up on the posts now and see what everyone has been up to.

Happy thanksgiving week for our american friends and happy wednesday for everyone else

I don't know about UK stage 2 food, but here in the states, stage 2 is just a bigger jar and may be a little bit thicker consistency. Tesa has been on stage 2 food since 6 months. I think that stage 3 is the one with chunks and i am going to start her on that at 9 months.
