finding out

Post by Literatriz »

Hey March moms,
Today I am feeling a lot better - the cold is almost gone and we saw our babies yesterday. I was worried because they were very calm for two days - paranoia and IVF do go together, don't they? So the doctor told us that sometimes the baby spends long stretchs of time with the spine facing "out" and the limbs directed towards our spine (where we don't have that much sensitivity), so it seems that they are quiet. They're not! After a few weeks, they get so strong that they kick the innner part and press their backs on our bellies and we feel everyting no matter what. I am looking forward for that. He also said that dehidration does induce mild contractions. I am drinking at least 10 big glasses of water a day. No fun!
Amazu, hope your discharge is beautifully transparent by now - maybe some normal shades of yellow :) I hope the apptmt with the perinatologist went well - let us know! One day the fear of loosing your baby will be transformed in some mourning for the one that didn't stay with you - and give place to a reasurred love for the one who did.
Esperanza, enjoy your big belly while it is not a watermellon pressing your bladder with all that gravity allows plus some kicks. Have fun with the anatomic U/S - same day as Sonu!!!!! DH is doing a lot of cleaning around the house...less than perfect? maybe, but we need to rest and they need to feel that they are preparing the nest :)
AlreadyBlessed, congratulations for your courage; hope for good results for your amnio. So it is going to be a tall boy/girl!
Sonu, my thoughts are for you sister and your mother. I do understand your mother spiritual angst and guilt. What is her religious tradition? Depending on that, a grandparent may need some reassurance, specially in case of DE; we know that 50% of that child comes from unknown DNA. We need to reconcile with the genetic and spiritual inheritance that comes with the gift of life. Fortunately, our own genetic assets are far from perfect, so we may find many reasons to love donated ones.

I loved the suggestions of strong colors! Orange is great, upbeat and gender-neutral. I started to practice some knitting - a small yellow/green vest.
It is getting hard to breath at night, as my belly is getting bigger. I don't complain much as DH gets super worried - and falls asleep immediately after :)
But days are great and I hope you enjoy most of them!
Best wishes, Literatriz

Hi ladies!
sorry no posts lately...but looks like eveyone is doing fairly well. Our march mommies group is growing stronger each day!!
Sonu: Good luck to your sister - i know you'll be such a great source of knowledge and inspiration to her since you went thru the same thing...i'm sure its so hard for ur mom becuz i think our culture assumes having a baby is the easiest thing in the world!
Alreadyblessed: wow...sounds like a nice u/s - a little boy will be so nice as u've already been blessed with 2 girls! and a tall boy is always cool! Hope ur amnio results are all nice and normal...
esperanza: i'm with u with the neutral colors- esp when it comes to the nursery! The only exception is that i can't help getting one pink outfit for each little baby girl as a good luck charm hanging in their closet after my level 2 u/s in 2 weeks :)
literatriz: glad to see u and ur DH have these cute ways of talking to each other...i'm afraid of baby brain syndrome too! i start working in two weeks at a brand new job, and hopefully i'm able to keep up brainwise!
i also worry about movement of the babies, and wonder why i can't feel each of the two separately, but the ob told me that it's clearer at 20-22 wks...

amazu - hope ur doing well!

As for me, i was at my mom's place for a week and enjoyed all the attention and good food...my belly button has started to come outward slightly and i developed a painless hemorrhoid (TMI)...but i think i eat too much at my mom's!! I got a dreaded call from my peri last week about the quad screen - he said that my chances of down's syndrome was 1/165 not 1/20 which is considered normal...its still less than 1%, but i was really quite upset and worried...anyway, i'm glad i didn't tell anyone except my DH as God willing all should be okay...we've decided against an amnio and will just see what happens on the level 2 - apparently there are signs they look for like enlarged femurs, etc...

well, i think i better get yet even more maternity clothes for my work...so expensive - aren't they? Anyone know any other good stores - i shop mostly at motherhood maternity and jcpenney ::))

:D Hey Guys...

I came across this and thought I must share it with you all...its interesting!!! This is from babycenter.com

Thirty-two things that change when you have a baby
by Rebecca Woolf
Last updated: October 2008

What changes when you have a baby? A better question may be: What doesn't change? Here, writer and mom Rebecca Woolf lists her most notable post-baby observations. Then scroll down to read our favorite comments from readers about how their babies changed their lives.

1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.

3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

4. You respect your body ... finally.

5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

6. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.

7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

9. Your heart breaks much more easily.

10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

11. Every day is a surprise.

12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

14. You become a morning person.

15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

And from our readers...

1. "You discover how much there is to say about one tooth." — Ashley's mom

2. "You finally realize that true joy doesn't come from material wealth." — Anonymous

3. "You now know where the sun comes from." — Charlotte

4. "You'd rather buy a plastic tricycle than those shoes that you've been dying to have." — Sophie's mom

5. "You realize that although sticky, lollipops have magical powers." — Roxanne

6. "You don't mind going to bed at 9 p.m. on Friday night." — Kellye

7. "Silence? What's that?" — Anonymous

8. "You realize that the 15 pounds you can't seem to get rid of are totally worth having." — Brenda

9. "You discover an inner strength you never thought you had." — Ronin and Brookie's mom

10. "You no longer rely on a clock — your baby now sets your schedule." — Thomas' mom

11. "You give parents with a screaming child an 'I-know-the-feeling' look instead of a 'Can't-they-shut-him-up?' one." — Jaidyn's mom

12. "Your dog — who used to be your 'baby' — becomes just a dog." — Kara

13. "You take the time for one more hug and kiss even if it means you'll be late." — Tracey

14. "You learn that taking a shower is a luxury." — Jayden's mom

15. "You realize that you can love a complete stranger." — Dezarae's mom

16. You find yourself wanting to make this world a better place. — Arizona

17. If you didn’t believe in love at first sight before, now you do! — Ciara

Hope you all liked the observation....

Dear friends, thanks again!!!

Hi ladies
Anyone hear from AMAZU? I know she was having some problems and she has not posted in a while.
Sonu~ MANY CONGRATS to your sister. Now your mom will have 2 grandbabies within a year. How wonderful!!!! Andd you and your sister can share this experience together. I will be praying for a great beta for her! Keep us posted!
esperanza~ Godd luck on your big sono! This will be the one where you get to see everything! ENJOY! Let us know how you make out. I will keep you in prayer and will be waiting to hear all the wonderful details!

I am still awaiting the amnio results. I have a docs appt tomorrow, but as of yesterday, the results still were not in. They could take as long as next Tuesday, so I'll just have to try to be patient. It's so hard when you are waiting to find out about your baby.
Glad to hear some of you are happy about the election. Sorry I don't share your enthusiasm. I guess only time will tell.
Have a wonderful weekend ladies!!

hello my dears!

AlREADYBLESSED--I know! I have been worried about AMAZU too. I haven't heard anything from her. Anybody else? Amazu, if you are reading, let us know how you are doing honey. About the election, you are right, time will tell.

Let us know about the amnio results. I'm sure everything is ok, but I also know how difficult waiting is when it comes to making sure our little ones are ok. Sending you lots of love and loads of patience until Tuesday :) I myself was nervous right before my appointment.

SONU-- how did your ultrasound go? how is your little one? waiving and moving all over the place? and your sister...what were her numbers???? tell us, tell us!!!! sending blessings your way ;)

By the way, thank you for the post on "how your life changes after you have a baby"....it's lovely, I enjoyed reading it. Thank you dear.

BABYLOVES--I was a little bit confused when I read your post about your amnio results, AND then I was glad to read that your doctor thinks everything is ok. Wonderful!

I hear you on the 2 little pink dresses hanging on the closet, don't get me wrong, I don't oppose that at all (in fact, I think they are SO cute), I just have a hard time with people boxing little babies one way or the other. One day I watched a show on tv where a mom had the complete nursery and wardrobe in pink    It was a bit overwhelming to me.

You know? I've been concerned with hemorrhoids, I don't think I have any, but sometimes # 2 is painful (sorry if this TMI for you
 ). How's your hemorrhoid doing? are you treating it with anything?

I actually went shopping for some maternity cloths last Sunday. It was a bit emotional for me, it felt quite surreal to be shopping at a maternity store...I felt special and a bit weird! anyway, YES, it is EXPENSIVE! I ended up buying a few items at motherhood as well (and then a few blouses and t-shirts at another store, luckily the fashion now is empire waist, etc, so I could get some inexpensive tops at "regular" stores). I wanted to buy at Old Navy, but the local one doesn't have a maternity section...I was bumped. I've looked on-line, but the cute cloth is expensive and then nothing has really "caught my attention"...I don't want to spend a fortune, but I do want to look cute...any thoughts?

hi, LITERATRIZ. I'm happy to hear your babies are doing well! It was interesting to learn that the babies can position themselves in a way that we don't feel them as much. Which reminds me  I watched this documentary (I think it was in the discovery channel) called "I was pregnant and I didn't know"...OH MY GOD! these women were pregnant for 9 moths (I think there was only 1 with twins that was around 30 something weeks) and didn't know it! I found it to be amazing...anyway, they all went into labor thinking that they were dying from a painful tumor or something and then, voila! they had babies...unbelievable! they all went to have healthy kids without pre-natal care.

I'm having trouble with drinking lots of water. I've never drank too much water, so I have to push myself to do it. I do drink lots of juice though, but I can't help to feel guilty every-now-and then. 10 big glasses a day...no fun!

Knitting? I should start learning.

Well, ladies, I had my u/s yesterday and it was a joy. We still have to go back in a few weeks to do it again, the technician said the baby is still too small to be able to see everything, BUT she did say that from what she could see yesterday, everything is fine!!!! Ah! she's pretty certain we are having a girl :D DH's dream come true. He has been praying for this girl for a number of years now. He was overwhelmed with joy, I think he was in a bit of shock, actually...too cute. We recorded it, so we have it on tape to show our families and our baby when she is old enough to understand.

Ok, I look forward to hearing from you all. HUGS.

Hiya..Ladies!!

Sorry for reporting late!!

Past two days have been with mixed emotions mostly of joy and cautiousness. The beta count of my sis was great!! It was 222 but she had dangerously low progesterone. She was prescribed additional suppositories and shots immediately. Now, she goes back to doc for blood work on Monday, Everything crossed for her. :) My heart says everything will be alright and surely God is watching us all. He surely wants both of us to share this wonderful journey together. God willing, my baby will have sibling/s to play and share their childhood together.

As for me , the scan was great. We could see the baby moving all around and got the first clear view of the face of the baby. :) It was very emotional and it all felt so surreal. Well, s/he looks more like me...and DH is so jealous...he he, though I know its too early to say anything. The baby's position is in breech and rest everything was perfect and normal. (knock wood!!!)

Esperanza-CONGRATULATIONS on having girl!!!:D I am sooo glad everything went well with the scan. I relate with your concern about only pink or blue!!! In fact boys looks so cool in PINK color and BLUE is my favourite color. Somebody has to take a step forward and paint girl's room with beautiful blue color...and get over gender restrictions!!

Talking about feeling surreal, every morning when I get up, I remind myself that I am PREGNANT & there comes a wide smile :D on my face!!! and I pinch myself and thank God for these beautiful moments. The same thing happens when I see myself in the mirror, can't just stop adoring my bump!! lol

I like OBAMA only because of his extraordinary journey to the White House, he will be an example for many generations to come, I just hope he lives up to the tremendous expectations of the people. He has a lot of carriage on his shoulders.

already blessed - Best wishes for your amino results. I am sure everything will be fine.

babyloves-I am so pleased that both the girls are doing great in your expanding belly. I bet they will be the bestest of friends. I wish for a desired, good result from the peri.

Lit- I understand the concern about the baby's movements. My baby is very active one day and the next day s/he'll be very quiet just turning and flipping just once or twice. And because I was on heavier side before I got preg and I have a thick belly mass, I hardly feel any kicks as for now. Only some flips and turns.
Thanks for the concern abt my sis and mom.

Annie- pl tell us that you and your baby are fine.

Hugs and wishes all around!!!

Hi ladies...
love the posts from you all.
Esperanza: I basically had a quad screen and on that my peri told me that there is a less than 1% chance of down's syndrome in one of the babies, but with twins, the tests are less accurate. It was read as "abnormal" which never sounds good. I was really worried before, but i'm hoping for the best when they do my u/s on 11/20 - they can see markers for down's and let us know more. Plus, i'll get confirmation on the sex...i'm just preparing DH for 2 girls as i know he'd like at least 1 boy...:) I'm always impressed and suprised when you say that ur DH actually wants a girl - that's cool!

BTW, i'm all for blue for girls, but definitely love dresses...actually i like gender neutral colors like orange, lavender, green, yellow.

Its funny how we talk about hemmorrhoids...mine is not painful, but its just there...i use a bidet (hooked up to the water system)...i think too much rubbing with toilet paper aggravates them. You can buy Bidet's online....they're really hygienic...less urinary tract infections, etc. too

motherhood is probably the cheapest maternity store. Target, burlington coat factory, gap, and old navy sometimes have maternity sections that are cheap too. I bought a crazy amount of stuff from mimi which was really expensive, but i can't help it as work starts soon (mon - eekkk!!)

sonu: wow...sounds like a great beta...its funny...i never had a progesterone checked around taht time...but i think you're right as hopefully God has planned for both of you to go thru this together, and have cute cousins to play with..:) Glad you're baby is doing well, dear. Not too much longer for you to have a little one in ur arms :)

alreadyblessed: sorry, didn't mean to offend you with obama's comment...i was just really excited to have such a different person in office after the fiasco of Bush....but anyway...we're all Americans ready to move forward!

alright, well, take care, hope you're okay amazu...please write to us :)

Dear babyloves

I also love to see lovely posts on our boards, I sooo wait for them.
I hope Amazu/ Annie is doing great and is just too busy with her chores.

I can understand your concern and anxiety after seeing the word 'abnormal' but I have read at many places these tests especially in the case of twins are misleading. Well, as a doc, you would know better!!! I am praying that everything is just perfect with and your babies.

I am so sorry for mentioning two girls, I thought it has already been determined by the doc. Of course, one boy and a girl will make a complete family.

Thanks for the concern and prayers for my sis. Amazingly, all the 5 times I have been through this transfer process, I also never had progesterone testing. I think the minimum levels should be somewhere near 20 and hers was 7 on the testing day. Anyway I am sure its going to rise.

So how's preparations for baby home-coming going on? Any showers?? We don't have any such stuff here. In fact we don't even buy stuff for the baby before the birth, but I am such a planner and a paranoid person that I have to do some basic stuff before the baby is born.

Anyone planning for the second, next baby? I know its early to ask. I am thinking of again getting into this brigade as soon as baby is 6-8 months. Godwilling!!! :)

Hi Ladies,
I am posting you from hospital bed. On 24th when I went to the high risk dr., I was immediately sent to be admitted as my cervix was shortening. With my mild fever, spotting and cervix shortening, they did all tests along with aminio which I was so scared. Anyways since all tests came negative, I had a cerclage but then I started bleeding red and still had temp which only came in afternoon and midnight.
They checked the cerclage but it was doing good. They have done repeated blood and urine test but still all is normal but I am still getting the mild fever which is usually around 99.4-100.4. I have had 2 episodes of heavy bleeding with clots. So my drs. are really puzzled and worried. They might have to do another aminio. I am on bed rest from that day and on different drugs as I am also contracting and having severe backache during my fever and bleeding. We are just hanging around with no certainty of future. I don't know whether I will have my baby or not. By the way, she is a girl and I can feel her move. I hope everybody is doing fine. I need your prayers and good wishes,
Annie

Hi ladies!!!
esperanza~ How far along are you? Like myself, you don't have a ticker posted (I can't get the darn thing to work). This was your 20wk ultra sound right? So glad to hear how wonderful it went!! CONGRATS CONGRATS on your little girl!! I have been blessed with two already, and so my husband has every finger and toe crossed for a little boy as this will be our last child, and this boy will carry on his family name. Truth be told though, little girls clothes and outfits are soooo cute. I loved dressing my girls (and still do), for birthdays and holidays.ENJOY ENJOY, and GOD BLESS!!! Great that you have it all on video! I know what you mean about drinking so much water. This pregnancy I am always thirsty, but the last two it was always a struggle. The key is to just stay hydrated, so do the best you can.
SONU~ What a great beta for your sister! CONGRATS to you and her and your mom too!! It's scary to have a low progesterone level, but thankfully they can give her the supplement and with God keeping a hand on her, your kids will be playing together in 2009!!! Did you want to know the sex, or are you and DH going to be surprised?? I know what you mean about loving the bump! lol. I am forever putting my hands on my belly, and waiting to feel those little movements. They are so surreal and wonderful.
Babyloves~ I know what you mean about DH wanting the son, but I can tell you that when I was pregnant with my 2nd and they told me it was another girl, I was wishing it was a boy, then we realized how wonderful 2 little girls are. They polish eachothers nails, share secrets, have slumber parties in eachothers rooms. It's so wonderful. And may I add that they have my DH wrapped aroun their little finger. He absolutely adores them!
You will be doubly blessed in a short time, and no matter what, you will be able to watch your DH gush twice as much as ours! ENJOY!! I am going for my sono the day before you, so it will be an exciting week for us. Stay well. Try not to worry about the test. less than 1% is as good as we will probably get. And we thought the stressful waiting process would end with the 2ww. UGH!
On the hemmerhoid issue, none here..thankfully, but sometimes the prenatal vit. can cause you to be constipated. Your doc can give you a stool softener to help things along. Hope you all stay well! I am going to try to send AMAZU a private post. Lets all keep her in prayer.
1st IVF~DD 2004
2nd IVF~ 2008 BFP
Thank you Lord for this blessing
love and miss you gram and baby b

Hi guys! I'm at 20 weeks now and I still haven't felt my little man move yet. Is there anyone else out there at this point that still haven't felt their baby yet? I'm wondering if I have felt something but just didn't realize what it was, but I'm starting to get nervous. We did see him on u/s on 10/30 and he was moving around really well. Sorry, just a little paranoid! :)
