Dec/Jan Cycle buddies!!!!

Post by sprouthaus »

Hello ladies!

I know there is a board for Oct/Nov/Dec cycle buddies - but since I won't be starting a cycle until December, I thought I'd get a thread started for those of us sitting and waiting.

A little about me - DH and I completed 3 IUIs with clomid last year and attempted IVF for the first time earlier this year. We cancelled after 5 days of stims due to my low response to the stim meds. We just finished our first complete cycle this month. After 10 days of stimming (long lupron protocol, 5iu lupron 1x/day, 150 menopur 1x/day, 225 gonal-f 2x/day). We had 10 follies, 8 fertilized (ICSI) but only two made it to day 3 - we transferred both. Needless to say, we had a BFN and wanted to jump back in as soon as possible. Due to some scheduling issues - we won't get rolling again until Dec.

I am on BCPs now and will start a microdose lupron protocol on dec. 6 with 300 iu follistim 2x/day (yikes that sounds like a lot!). RE is hoping for a better response with this protocol (me too!!! :) ) Oh, I've also started acupuncture.

If you are out there twiddling your thumbs until Dec or Jan - I hope you'll join me here. Hopefully we can keep each other distracted and help keep up the PMA! I haven't figured out if having 2ww over the holidays is good (more distractions) or bad (stressful family dinners
 ).

Hi! I will be starting around the same time as you. I will be starting BCP's next week when AF arrives and stimming in Mid November with an ER most likely in early December. I am hoping that round 2 works for us!!!

Hi ladies - glad to have you here. I have a busy few days (and turning into weeks...) ahead of me so I might not be around as much as I had hoped. Busy is good though! I want December to start now!

Hi ladies! I am 29 and actually been ttc for the last 6 months. Was told in August that IVF is my only option due to blocked tubes. Well, I meet with my IVF nurse 10/28 to retrieve my calendar and prescriptions. I am currently taking BCPs. My transfer is expected to occur Dec/Jan. I am very excited! My insurance company only pays for one cycle per lifetime so i am prayerful that it works the first time.

I am trying to be optimistic but i do understand that sometimes the first time is not a charm. My Dr. says i have a good chance b/c of age but i dont really put all of my trust in man.

This message board is really helping me to cope. I hope we can assist one another through this. Thanks! I am really excited! Nervous, but excited!

Hi Ladies, I would love to join you. I will be having a FET in December. It seems like a lifetime away.

Little bit about our struggle. My husband and I are 28. We have been trying for almost 2 years and were told IVF is our only option. I have severe endometriosis.

It will be our 3rd FET. We have had 2 fresh transfers and 2 previous FET. Both FETs ended as chemical pregnancies. My husband and I are praying and hoping that this FET is the one. We are lucky to have 12 frozen blasts waiting for us, but the implantation seems to be our biggest obstacle.

Glad we can all go through this 2 month wait and the 2ww together. :-)

wishing4baby - welcome to the board and good luck with your FET. I must admit that I am very jealous of your 12 frosties! We finished our cycle with none. Why are you waiting until Dec to do your FET?

JennJenn - I bet you will get TONS of embies to use and freeze at your age. Sounds like you really need this cycle to count! I bet your RE is right - if your problem is blocked tubes, I bet you will have no problem getting a BFP on your first try! Don't let yourself be overwhelmed by the medications - it can be a lot to absorb at once. It is easier than it seems!

everyone - If you know the dates of your stim start, ER, ET (etc.) let me know and I'll keep a list for the board so we don't miss anyone's important days.

We are planning the FET for December because I am in the middle of a mock transfer cycle right now. Basically my Dr puts me on the medications he would for a normal FET, but instead of transferring the embryos, he is taking a biopsy of my endometrium. The biopsy tests to make sure my lining is at the right stage for transfer. This way, when we do the real thing, he has a better timeline of when the transfer should take place.

My biopsy is tomorrow. So by the time we get the results, I get a period and we can get going again, we are probably looking at an early December FET. I can't wait.

Sprouthaus, I am also doing acupuncture too. Have been doing it for about 10 months now. I love it. It absolutely relaxes me and makes me feel like I am doing everything I can to get this to work.

KMHTTC, good luck on round 2. The process is so much easier the second time around.

natashamom, sounds like you are going to have some strong little embryos. Good luck!

JennJenn, sounds like you have a great chance of this working the first go round, and you probably will have some left over to freeze for future use. Just try and stay positive.

I wish us all good luck this round.

Hello everyone. I was on the OCT/NOV/DEC board but found out that I will be with you guys instead.

It has been a rough 3 week recovery from my tube removal on October 8th.

But we had our appointment with the RE yesterday and were told the clinic that would do our ER and ET would be closed down for Christmas and New Years so instead of starting this month with ER and ET around Christmas we have to wait till my December cycle to start meds.

I was told that I will start Lupron on day 21 of my cycle in December. So I'm looking around 29th or so to start Lupron.

Then some time in January I will start Follistim. I'm not sure when in the cycle I start this or what exactly it's for but I will start it in January.

At some point, when eggs are mature I will take the HcG shot. Then, depending on my cycle, ER around 21st and ET around 24th. They prefer to do 3-day transfers (and that's what our insurance covers). I was told that the Pg Test would be around February 8th (ONCE AGAIN, JUST TENTATIVE DATES).

I was told since I have two AF's to come and go that these dates are tentative. I was also told that they would stop my cycle of IVF if I understimulated and if I hyperstimulated.

She did put the needle in my stomach as a test run so I'd see how the needle felt, as I'm terrified of needles. It really was no BIG deal. I know however that that might change once there are meds in the needle, but the needle itself really didn't hurt.

So, we are excited and ready to move on.

IVF - BFP - HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great day ladies!!

Will check back soon. I have to get ready to head out of town for our nephews b-day party.

It's great to be back!!!!

Hey all! I am really nervous. I have a question...How much does stress play a part in this process??? I am really stressed at this time. My DH and I may not be handling all of our emotions correctly. I see alot of you post that your DH is very supportive and helpful. Although mine is supportive.....he adds to my stress instead of helping to eliminate it. Any suggestions?

I just spoke with the nurse and my FET is scheduled for December 11th :D . I am so excited!!! This will be our 5th transfer (3rd FET), but I still get so excited with the hope that this time could be it.

I hope we all get our BFP. Here is to Christmas and New Years miracles...

JennJenn, the stress is very high, especially your first time around. Just try and focus on the shared goal...a healthy pregnancy and baby. Take the days one at a time and know that no matter the outcome at the end of the cycle, you will still have each other.

Looking forward to hearing how everyones cycle goes.

Thanks wishing4baby. Thanks everyone. I saw the nurse today for our IVF consult. It seems that I start on Lupron on Nov 12th (10 units), then it'll decrease to 5 units on Nov 27th....but i stay on it until Dec 8th. That's kinda long isnt it? I thought suppression lasted for 2 weeks???

Then i have:
Gonal-f = 300
Menopur=75

JennJenn

My RE's office said I will be taking my Lupron from day 21 of my cycle in December (so around December 30th) until the day before my ER (around January 19th) so sounds like we will both be taking it kind of long. My Lupron also starts at 10 units and will periodically decrease but they said they won't know how much to decrease it until I'm into my cycle and they get results of my blood work at that time.

So, sounds like we will be doing the same thing only you get to start yours earlier than me. :( no fair!!!!! No, just kidding. This wait is killing me though. I want the holidays to be over so I can just start my IVF cycle!!! :D

Good luck!![/b]

JennLB25, thanks for the information. :D I cannot wait until New Year's Eve! By then, the ENTIRE process (still taking PIO) will be over and I can relax and enjoy being pregnant (being very optimistic)!! :D I am trying hard not to think negative thoughts.
