Hello to all,

Just a brief history of myself. I am 36 years old, in good health and went through the year of trying, HSG test and tubes are patent, my husband was checked out and is okay. I pushed to move ahead to go to the specialist. I had blood work which revealed a slight elevation in FSH from month to month ranged 9 to 12. I have a low egg reserve. I have had 2 unsuccessful months with clomid and inseminations. Just took a month break and now am about to begin another cycle with injectable medication and insemination which will be done 2 times before approaching IVF. Is anyone else in this situation and if so do you know of any new material out there that would provide me with some statistics on this. I am going to a great doctor or so I am told I am. I don't find the office or him to be Mr. personality though so it seems any time I ask something the response is it would have been easier for you 10 years ago...

I realize that I have a couple of questions and my mind is jumping around a bit, but can someone help me...

Kind regards,

Kristen

hi kristen, i cant help with info about your treatments as we already had two negative ivf cycles and are now exploring other treatments. my (ex)gynae told us to try naturally and like you constantly reminded us of my age not being on our side(it drives me mad!).

however you mentioned high fsh. last year my fsh was 6.5 and hubbies sperm ok but not great. we both went to a nutritionalist in Nov. and she recommended that we take some herbal supplements as well as alter our diets etc. i've been taking agnus castus and he has been taking saw palmetto. the remarkable thing is that by May this year my fsh had improved to 3.5 and his results improved significantly by about 30%; motility and quantity. that said we don't yet have the result we really want but it is a step in the right direction particularly for a non ivf route.

i'm not sure this helps much. if i come across anything related i'll let you know. let us know if you find anything else too.

phil

Hi Kirstin
I am having IUI with injectable Gonal F. I am 34 and have mild PCOS which I only found out about after I had 1 IVF cycle. basically you have a 15% greater chance of getting pregnant with IUI treatment, however it's a deffinate step in the right direction! The drug dose they give will be designed to produce 2/3 eggs. the good thing is you can have succesive treatments without waiting a month so it has it's plusses!
hope this helps
Aly
x

Thank you Kat, Phil and Aly...I appreciate your kind words and information...Just an update...I went to the doctor this am, had U/S and bloodwork and am to start the gonal-f injection this evening...he had to add his 2 cents in about my fsh level being as high as 10.7 (he is not so encouraging)..he said we will be doing 2 cycles like this and I have a 15% chance each month...he stated he felt more ++ about the IVF route. Thank you Phil for the info on the supplements (we just may try them)...I hope all of you are successful and wish you the best. This is so hard to go through each month, and I know I am only at the beginning so I shouldn't be so down...I will keep you updated and please do the same...Kristen
Just wondering if anyone has done injections (FSH/Gonal?) with IUI and what experience you had.
I'm 39, dx with PCOS april/03 (laparoscopy), 4 months + Clomid (100) without getting pg. Apparently I ovulate, but not regularly (periods every 5-8 weeks)
My RE suggested doing the pill for a month to 'cleanup' then do injections and IUI (small male factor).
Kirsten in NJ, USA, who posted the same in late oct 2003, how is it going for you?
