My dilemma about drug dosage continues....

Post by Dolly »

Sorry to keep harping on about this - we had made the decision to increase the drugs dosage this time in the hope that we might get a few more eggs (even though the consultant said this is not necessarily the case). But when I phoned up to tell them my decision so they could issue my prescription - they said they don't think it is a good idea.

BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS MY DECISION. If they really don't want me to up the drugs why did they give me the choice in the first place.

I really don't know what to do - I have always followed their advice so far and feel a bit strange going against what they recommend. But I feel that we only just make it with regard to the quality of embryos we transfer and so far they havn't had a choice of which ones to put back as the others have been either v. slow to divide or v. fragmented.

Sorry about my rant - I just feel so cross!

Hope you're all well

Oh Dolly,
Rant all you like. If you are like me it is so difficulty not having any control over anything. We have to put all our faith and trust in these nurses and docs.
Was it the nurses telling you this or the consultant?
I'm sorry I cant be of any help. But do rant all you like and we are all listening. Big Hugs, and I hope it all works out.

Hi, rant all you like! Could you ask them why they mentioned this as an option only to change their minds later? Is there any negative side to you doing this or do they 'just' think it's a waste of money. It seems a shame they can't see that we all want to all that WE can (which isn't much) to maximise our chances of success. I'd ask for a longer and more detailed explantion. You don't want to come out of this tmt wondering 'could we have done more?'.

Debra.

5 weeks to 40. Had 2nd FET today, now trying to relax and think ++++ thoughts. We were lucky and both our last remaining eggs survived so there are 2 little embies nestling down in there.

Go ahead and rant rant rant , its hopeless with these bloody doctors , dont they realise the stress we are under , anyway they obviously know better then us cause they are trained so I guess you will just have to trust them and if after your first scanwith the follis and your not happy ask them to up the dosage .

hi dolly, have you asked why they think it's not a good idea? will it degrade the quaility of eggs or do they think it might not produce any more eggs?

if it's a question of egg quality then that's a good point to consider. if it's a question of whether it will be more effective then surely that's a matter of cost (a big matter i know!) but then your decision.

not getting definitive answers from dr's is really frustrating. i'd ask some more questions to get to the bottom of it.

best wishes,

phil
