This will be my 3rd cycle and this cycle I my Dr ordered me Medrol steroid. Does anyone know why I will be taking a steroid? My last cycle ended up being a chemical.

hi.

steroids are given when you have high number of NKC (natural killer cells).
We all have them but when they are a bit higher they might assume an embryo as a strange body and kill it hence you have a BFN.

but best is to make sure with your doctor.

This is my 3rd IVF and I just started taking Medrol for the 1st time. I am a low responder and this time they got 3 eggs, 1 was no good.. I got my #'s today and only 1 fertilized. I go to transfer on Wednesday. I just hope it keeps growing in the lab and I make it to transfer.

The steroid is supposed to suppress your immune system to give your body a better chance of implantation. I sure hope so. 1st time they put back 2 and BFN and the 2nd time they put back 3 and also BFN!!! This time I am taking Medrol... let's hoep this does the trick.

My doctor also ordered additional HCG shots to help support things. I also start progesterone tonight.

Jill,
my RE put me on medrol as well. She said it aids in implantation. it reduces imflamation. I take a total of 7 of them. Also am doing progesterone in oil for weeks. She says the oil makes the environment very cozy and fluffy for the embies.
