Hello Everyone this is my first time on the board. I am 35 and my husband is 31. We are going through IVf #2 and I just wanted to ask a question. We had 13 eggs retrieved, 7 fertilized, and 3 were inplanted. We were waiting to hear about the other 4 to freeze and just found out that none were left. I was really surprised that not 1 was left. Is this commin? :?:
On which day was the transfer? what did the lab say, they stopped dividing and in which stage? And of which quality were the 3 embryos you got back? I think this can happen if you tried blastos - some 40% of embryos reach this stage I read, that would be the 3 you got back.
Hi annamills, retrieval was on the 6th, transplant was on the 9th. On the 8th I had two 8 cells, a 6 , and 4 4 cells. they transplanted the 8,s and the 6. They were "very good". the 4 cells were average. I did not get a full report from the lab ,just that they were gone? I am trying to be positive it just would have been nice to know that if it did not work again I would have eggs frozen.
try not to be too disappointed....i had 2x 8 cell, grade A embryos put back first time round and was not allowed to freeze any of the others as they "weren't good enough". i was as suprised as you are, especially as we had such good quality embryos implanted but my clinic is very strict on what quality emrbyos they freeze. a lot of clinics will only freeze 8 cell (if three day), grade A embryos as i believe the freezing itself is a hard process to go through and therefore less quality embryos are less likely to survive the thaw. having said that, we had 7 good enough quality embryos to freeze second time round!
if you want more info i would contact the clinic - you have every right to know the details!
hope this helps
