How thick are your Progesterone Needles????

Post by Lady_J »

I am sort of freaking out. I was going thru my "Big Box" of Meds. ANd I am noticing that I am almost done with them. All that is left is pretty much my Vivelle-Dot Patches that I do after ET, the Doxyciline pills that I take after ER, Chorionic Gonad (The Trigger shot), about 8 viles of Progesterone, and 3 bags of needles.

Injection syringes to draw up the Trigger shot that I switch to a 22g 1 1/2inch needle to inject. ANd then I have a bag full of 25g 1 1/2 inch needles for the Progesterone. they are thick needles. I don't know how i am going to be able to inject my butt with that needle everyday.

Are your Prog needles that thick. I may be able to handle the 22g needle but the 25g is too too thick. I'm scared.

LOL thats better than mine! I draw up the progesterone with a 18 gage needle but inject it with a 23 gage needle that is 1 1/2 inches long.....but beleive me, it doesnt hurt as much as you think it will! I was terrified of the shots at first to the point where I was crying before my husband ever even stuck me with it.....then I realized it wasnt that bad....and after I got my BFP I realized it was totally necessary. Best wishes to you!

Same here for me. 18 gage to draw with and 23 gage, 1 1/2 inch to inject. An yeah, it's really not as bad as you think it's going to be. I cried the whole time just before my first shot and was laughed at by my husband when I told him that it wasn't that bad. It's really not as horrible as you think it should be, and that's comming from someone whose TERRIFIED of needles. Just try to ice up the area about 1/2 an hour befor. Good luck and remember that your doing it for a valant cause.

NY... I got mixed up. Sorry... I have 22g syringes to mix the trigger shot and I inject with the 25g. Then I have another bag of just needles for progesterone and they r 22g.

Oh God, Im just scared especially since hubby has to do them for me. Does anyone do their own progesterone injections?

I did my own stim shots but I cant do the progesterone shots. Just the angle to try and poke your own butt and the fact that the needle is so much longer, I dont think I could bring myself to do it! All the husbands learn how to give it and although they may be nerovus at first, they usually realize that its pretty easy to do. Came easy for my husband though cause he is a veterinarian and he's used to giving shots to things that could bite you after you poke them! LOL

25g is actually thinner than a 22g so you should be fine. I had to draw with an 18g and inject with a 22g. two nights in a row, I came home from work so tired, that I wound up drawing with a 22 and having my husband inject me with the 18g!!!! That was no joke!!! After the second one I was thinking....something is definitely wrong here! So, 22g is not bad, and 25g should be even better than that. Just don't get tired and use an 18g. You could hang a picture on the wall with that one!

We also had 22G needles for injecting the progesterone, and thicker needles that came on the syringes to draw it from the bottle. On our last IVF, the pharmacy didn't send the injection needles - "just use the ones that come on the syringes". We straightened that out fast!

You guys r GREAT!

I really needed a laugh. Looking at all of these drugs and needles has been very scary. I have really enjoyed reading your reponses and being able to laugh about it instead of cry. I have not started my BIG needles yet. Lupron injections begin tomorrow.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

May our rears not suffer for long!!! LOL
