Heartbeat!

Post by Embie30068 »

Hi,

Could some of you tell me when you got your first heartbeat. I am exactly 6 weeks pregnant today and had my first ultrasound. They saw a nice sac and yolk but no heartbeat.:(... Any info would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Hi, I was 6w 1d but both babies were measuring larger, they actually changed my due date because of this. Also depends on the equipment being used as some is more sensitive.
Don't worry, all sounds good for date. ^ weeks is the earliest you may see a heartbeat.
good luck

I saw just sacks at 5 weeks 6 days and didn;t see the heart beats until the next ultrasound at 7 weeks. It's early still, try not to worry too much. I know that's MUCH easier said than done but you don't have a problem yet, your right where you should be right now. You'll see your heartbeat at the next one I'm sure.

I just had my U/S at 5 weeks 6 days ( on Thursday) & didn't see a heartbeat but everything else looked good. Dr said usually 6 weeks is the earliest you see it but most likely 7 weeks. It's also amazing how much happens in 1 or 2 days....it could already be beating today.
I'm trying not to worry too & I'm going on vacation so won't go in again until the 26th....waiting waiting always waiting :D

i've been told many times to not expect a heartbeat until at least 7 weeks (not able to see it yet).

they do u/s before that to confirm a sac /fetal pole is present.

Hi hon!
Try not to panick. I had an u/s at 6w2d and saw no heartbeat. Came back at 6w6d, and had a hard time finding it again. Then they made me switch rooms to a room with a "better ultrasound machine" and there it was clear as a bell. Sometimes it all depends on the REs equipment.

That same thing just happened to me. I thought I was prepared because the week prior the nurse said they will look at week 6 and if they don't see it, which in normal, you will come back the following week. I got the worst person doing my ultrasound of course. When he printed out my 1st pic he had the wrong name and didn't realize until I was done. I had to reassume the position to get another one done. Can you believe he asked if I mind if the name was wrong!!! He didn't seem to be looking too closely for the heartbeat and did identify the sac and fetal pole. So when we came out of the room my real doctor was there and says to me "we need to see a heartbeat next week or we're in trouble". They sent me to the lab for another beta.. that came back at 5211.. which they said was good... I was 6 weeks 2 days. I was fine until my doctor said that... then I kind of paniced but the more I thought about it the more I realized that probabaly one of the real doctors would have been able to see it because I have even heard that this Resident has measured the cervix instead of the lining!!!!

Hi

I have the same thing happening too. I went in on Tuesday for my scan I was 6 weeks 6 days, they said everything looked perfect but no heartbeat. I went over to the hospital and they scanned me again and said the sac was measuring a week earlier than my dates so I have to go back in a week. Could it have implanted later than we thought? I thought it was all over for us until I read this thread you guys have given me a glimmer of hope. I did a test the day before we went and it was stronger than the one I had done a week previously could this still happen even if our little embie had died?

Sara,

I don't think it is a bad thing. In a book that I have it says the heartbeat starts at week 6 BUT if you had an ultrasound the heartbeat would appear in the week 7 section. The funny thing is.. the resident that took my US did not measurements at all. He just looked to see if there is a sac and a fetal pole (I think is what he said). I know a day or 2 doesn't seem like that much time but in relation to a growing baby.. it has a huge impact! We need to be strong and wait until the next US! Did they do a repeat beta for you? They did for me and that gave me some reassurance! Do you mean the sac is measuring a week later... like they said it is smaller then it should be or bigger?

KKE,

When you say 5w3d.. is that past retrieval, transfer or last period. That seems super early to see a heartbeat... In my book it says it doesn't even start until week 6.. but then again week 6 was only the next day :-) and is viewed on an U/S at week 7.
