Fetal Heart Monitor

Post by Pummalaemma »

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone is using a fetal heart monitor at home. I am thinking about buying one, but am just not sure if it's worth the investment. I'd love to hear my babies heart beat, but is it actually going to work. How early can you hear your baby's heart beat?

Anyone any thoughts?

Thanks so much.

Pumma, Hi & Congrats to you. I am renting a monitor from babyFM.com for 20 dollars a month. I am now 20 weeks pregnant & have been able to hear my babys heartbeat since 9-10 weeks. I had it since week 8, but to be honest, I really couldn't hear anything til about 9.5 weeks. It really does work great!!! Good Luck!

wow- it's like a dec/jan ivf reunion over here!

Pumma- Congrats to another one of my original thread buddies!

Neffi- I am not sure I knew you were pregnant either and my love and congrats go out to you too...

Esperanza- I have given you congrats...but it can't hurt to say it again

Pumma- as far as the monitors, When i was pregnant, my ob said unless you rent or buy the kind they have at the office, then they are crap. It is true. I saw one of those ones by bebesounds on clearance at sears for 1o bucks and I didn't care about wasting that if it didn't work. I could never hear the heartbeat with that thing, not even at full term. good luck.

I got one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but I rented it from Baby Beats for $27 a month....I plan on using it only a month or two more so its cost me less than $130. You an buy them or get them used, bth of which are a much more expensive option. Some people told me to go get one used on Ebay and then re-sell it, but I know I wont do that so I opted for the rental, at least I know thers works. I totally found it worth it and found the heartbeats each time...My husband is a pro....I suffered 3 miscarriages and had allot fo bleeding early on in this pregnancy.....So thats why I rented one, cause without it I would be insane between ultrasounds! SO I highly recommend it, it has been worth every penny we sepnt so far...Oh it can be tricky to find the babies heartbeat at first because it picks up yours to, but theres a distinct differance....your babies heartbeat will sound like a galloping horse...yours will be much slower.

Its geat and if you are worried like I was ...I have found it brings me a great deal of peace...I do it everyday sometimes twice

Hey Pummalaemma
HI!!!! Thanks and Congrats to you too!!!
When I got it I said I would only use it until 4 months, just enough to get me past the first trimester. But I just love it so much that I may talk to DH to agreee to keep it till the end....but we'll see. I realy love it! I wil just change my plan if I do so its a little cheaper

I started using mine I think at just 10 weeks ......the heartbeats were harder to find then...but now at 15 weeks its very easy. You just have to be very patient when looking for he heartbeat...you have to glide very slowly because these mahicnes are very sensitive. It took my DH about 30 minutes to find one of the heartbeats the first time we did it....Lucklily hes very patient cause I started to freak out    oh and the first time I found our babies they were both just above my pubic hairline, right above eachother....sorry TMI, but it was allot lower than I thought

Anyway I opted for the model with no bells and whistles, and also the month to month plan :) But there are many options to choose from.

heres the link to where I got mine. I liked this vendor best-
http://www.babybeat.com/index.html

heres a link to the page I rented from and also additonal info on the one I got which is at the bottom of page:
http://www.babybeat.com/fetal-dopplers.html

Advanced Technology Standard BabyBeat Doppler
(Model 150) audio only with 3 MHz probe
• $449 to purchase buy now
• $23/month 6-month prepaid fetal doppler rental rent now
• $25/month 3-month prepaid fetal doppler rental rent now
• $27/month month-to-month fetal doppler rental rent now (this is the one I got)

Be sure o buy some extra ultra-sound gel as well.....keep in mind you can buy one on this site as well :)

let me know if you ned anything else!

again ...congrats

Hey Pummalaemma

i forgot, you can use it as early as 10 weeks they say...but I doubt ti would hurt if you tried a little sooner as long as you know that its possible you wont hear it until 10 weeks...I dont know how far along you are ...I read some woman found it as early as 7 weeks using one....

toobee and everyone else: i got my fetal heart beat monitor last tuesday and have been using it every day. It's great, i really love hearing my baby's heartbeat. i do have to say that it can be quite challenging to find the heart beat. i am at 11w4d and i hope i will be able to find it quicker, but it's all worth it to heart that little heart pounding away.
i bought my monitor at heart beats at home, because they had a 10 day trial period, which i thought would be good to have in case i can't hear the baby's heartbeat.

thanks again for your replies.
