Is there any hope?

Post by Jilltine »

I am looking for any positive thoughts. I went in for my embryo transfer yesterday and was told my 4 embies wern't looking so good, they wern't the best and had some fragmentation. I was told I should put back in all 4 for the best chance. Can you still get pregnant from poor quality embies. Days 1-4 they were doing so good and by 5 they wern't as good. Is there any hope? Thanks.

Hi Jill,
The only time there is no hope is if the embryologist calls and said they tripped and spilled the petri dish!
Of course there is hope! :)
I don't know if you were on the board when I was going through this very issue, but I had only three embryos make it to transfer, and all of them were U-G-L-Y!! They all had fragmentation, the best one only had about four divided cells, and the remaining fourth embryo (which was not implanted due to poor quality) died the next day.
Guess who still got a BFP?
My beta numbers were lower and slower to start rising, but Jr. has more than made up for it in the long haul.
Really, it just takes a few stem cells to start actively divinding to make a baby.
So, not to sound cliche' - It ain't over till it's over! You have come this far, so why not just see it through? You may be suprized!
Good luck!

I can tell you for a fact that there is hope.

Originally my DH and I only went through IVF for PGD for a known genetic condition. After two chem pregnancies it was determined that there was a egg quality issue. (A lot of fragmentation and the cells dividing unevenly(meaning some big and some small cells))

On the third cycle they gave me a growth hormone for the 4 days prior to retreival. On day 3, they were no looking good. Then on day 5 they looked so much better. I am now over 15 weeks pregnant with twins.

There is def hope. Don't give up. Sending you positive vibes and sticky baby dust.
