Good morning... So Saturday was our beta and as I suspected we got a BFN. We're pretty devastated. I just imagined going through the holiday season pregnant and happy. Looks like we'll get to try this again in January already. We're meeting with the RE today to discuss the cycle and find out what, if anything, we could do different this time around. Mrs. Cutter and Tkat - so sorry about the bad news...

I hope you take care of yourselves. Tkat I'm glad you can start again in January... Mrs Cutter - I'm not sure what your diagnosis is but if it's age related - andif you can't do ivf maybe it's worth trying acupuncture/herbs together as it's a lot less expensive. If you are going to do one then I've heard herbs work better because they are working on you every day. Also they are less expensive overall. Maybe you've already tried this but herbs can take about 4 months to balance your system and then you could at least continue to try naturally..... just as thought. feel free to ignore.

Well I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving... despite being on this fertility rollercoaster.

I'm so sorry to hear about some of the recent BFN's. I wish you soooooooo much luck next time. Kas and Tkat glad to hear you're revving up for Jan. cycle already.

Karen- here's my update! I got a call right before I left the office (early) for the holiday weekend. We finally got approval to move forward with this IVF cycle. I had been on BCPs for f-o-r-e-v-e-r and actually called the clinic like a week prior to approval to stop BCPs and give my body a rest. I didn't know if we were going to get approved in 1 day or 1 month so I got back on BCPs and then got the call!!! So, to make a long story short:

I start Lupron 10 units tonight 12/1 thru 12/11. I'll continue on BCPs til 12/7. After AF arrives later that week we'll start Gonal-F 225units. So I'm just guessing right now but looks like ER will be around Christmas. So our holiday travel plans are off. I'm anxious and excited to get the shots underway.

Hey everyone, I updated the board a little more. I know we are slacking and have missed a lot so don't be offended if we have missed you. Just please post so we can get things straight.

I don't have time to do personal. I am supposed to be doing a 10 page research paper that I haven't started yet. I have been pushing it off all weekend and now it is getting to do or die time.

JDC - Glad to here your ER went well. Good luck on your 2ww.

Kas - keep us posted on your cycle. I was glad to see that you were able to continue. Hoping that your hives are now in check.

Tkat - So sorry for your BFN. It sucks but glad to see that you are already planning your next cycle. I think that helps a lot when we can start planning ahead.

waiting for 4 - U/S is on Wednesday. YEAH you get to see your little bean. Glad to see that everything is going good so far well except for the m/s, hopefully that won't get too bad.

detroit2007 - Good luck with your FET on Thursday. Will be keeping my fingers crossed that your blasts survive the thaw.

havbaby1627 - Thanks for the recommendation. I will keep your RE in mind. It would be a 4 hr drive for me. I live right outside of St.Louis. The RE that I am getting the second opinion from is highly rated. He does a lot of experimental stuff. His name is Dr. Silber, and he has written several books. I believe he also was the RE that took out the uterus of one sister and impanted it in the other sister so the sister could have children. Or something like that.
Hang in there, spotting is quit normal, I think I have seen so many posts that ladies have some kind of spotting and most of them still go on to have a BFP.

Well, I guess I did more personals then I thought I was. Now I really have to start on my paper.

Kas...good luck! I think we are close with our cycles and I am praying for you!

I will be having my ER sometime this week. Been to RE office everyday now. Yesterday was hard as they couldnt find my left ovary during my sono. The PA came in to help and I was in tears it hurt so much. Thankfully they found it and I could leave but I cried most of the way home and spent the day in bed. I was having so much cramping. Today was easier. They said I have alot of follies and they are all growing! I had the crabby sonographer but she was a bit nicer today so I was thankful. My jeans are getting tight though and I am starving all the time...does anyone else feel like that?

Tkat, I'm sorry about your results. It's hard to deal with BFN's and trying to move forward. But it also sounds like you are already gearing up for another cycle in January so I'm glad you are willing to try again. Best of luck to you as you get ready for a new year and hopefully a BFP.

Prayin4BFP, it sounds like you had a really rough time during your sono and glad the next one was a bit easier on you. At least you have a lot of follies and will have ER this week. I'll be checking to see how it goes for you. Keep us posted.

NotHopelessYet, good to hear that you're getting started. I guess you'll be busy with your ER and ET this Christmas and hopefully getting a wonderful gift.

Sloan, that's great advice about the acupuncture and herbs. I agree and would also recommend to anyone with fertility issues, especially if you can't afford numerous cycles of IVF.

JDC, good luck in your 2ww! I am hoping the best and that 12/8 gets here quick enough for you!

Havbaby, hopefully that spotting is implantation bleeding, like WaitingFor4 suggested. I've read a lot and it definitely sounds like a common symptom. Let us know what you find after b/w tomorrow. Good luck!

We had a few errands to run today and i have decided that cutesy kitten heel ankle boots are not going to see me thru a midwest winter and maybe i should invest insome practical footwear. Prayin4BFP Sorry you had such a painful U/S. Sometimes as you get further down the cycle i find it a little uncomfortable but your nurse sounded practically sadistic!! Obviously she has never had a vaginal ultrasound with enlarged ovaries otherwise she would be a little more thoughtful. Hopefully next time you will get someone else ...

As for me, i think i'm just hanging in there. My U/S is tomorrow and my RE will decide whether to cancel or not. I am trying to be positive as there is nothing i can do to change the outcome. My hives have calmed down and they just look like dark patches under my skin. I really was so ill, i've never felt like that in my life. My skin was burning and red hot to touch. My largest 'hive' was 8 inches diameter and everything was swelling up and i couldnt bend my wrists or knees, so if nothing else i am thankful to be ok and back at home. Wish me luck for tomorrow ladies, if ever i needed it, i think it is now

Havbaby-I woke up this morning with the exact same thing. Brown spotting & I too am freaking out. My beta is on Thurs & I'm trying to be positive and hope that it is implantation bleeding but I am completely frazzled. Any advice from people with spotting and BFP would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully we will get a BFP.

Kas-hang in there, hope you can continue on with your cycle, especially after the crazy ordeal you have been through.

as for me i have no pregnancy symptoms expect for feeling tried, going to the bathroom no stop , & my chest is very soar other than that i am feeling great i go for my 4th beta on wed 12/3/08 & then my u/s to see if i have one bean or two on 12/12/08...it is crazy but i had my ET on 11/11/08 & now i have my first u/s on 12/12/08 this number thing is crazy....anyways i am thinking of all of u & wishing u a great night & a good day tomorrow chat with u soon

Gina, I had no symptoms other then sore boobs either, last night I did start getting Round ligament pain, scared the heck out of me, where I was reading all about if I could have an eptopic..... Guess what.No eptopic!!!

Some news: We have 3 lil ones snuggled in.. baby A and B measured perfect 6wks 1 day and HB were great.. baby C, I think must be the grade 2 we transfered, she is measuring 1 day behind and her heart rate was a bit slower and her sac was not as large as A and B's.. Dr said that she might not be viable but the other 2 look great..gave baby C a 50/50 chance..We will know more in 2 weeks at next U/S

It was so nice to hear their lil hearts beating........... We are so thrilled.

For those asking about spotting...

I had brown spotting two days before my beta and then a day after and then a week after that. Brown is old blood and could definitely be implantation. Mine was very slight and went away within 24 hours. Hope that helps - I know that the 2ww is torturous....

I had another ultrasound today. Baby is still there measuring on target... 8 weeks ...which is always nice to hear. However I have what's called subchorionic bleeding/hematoma where there's a little blood between the uterus and placenta... It's also referred to as a blood clot. As I'm not bleeding and it's small my doctor is not alarmed but put me on bed rest without the bed rest - as in no lifting, long standing, sex, exercise..... ugh stressful. Basically he's hoping it will reabsorb into the body and not "bleed out" which is the other scary option.

anyone hear of this before..... I heard it's more common with ivf and twin pregnancies?? as if i need another thing to google

Mrscutter, it’s good to hear from you. I agree with Sloan88, maybe you can try some less expensive alternative options. I was reading a good book called Fertility Foods by Jeremy Groll and Lorie Groll that might be useful to you.

As for myself, my beta is tomorrow and DH and I are just so sure it’s going to be a BFN. Having gotten a BFN 2 times now, I think it’s just become our way of coping with this whole IVF thing. I was fairly optimistic right after my FET but I also felt like we had a bad start when we were only able to transfer 1. I’ve really had no symptoms and I’ve been doing hpt’s since Friday and gotten negative's. I know there’s still a chance but I just feel like it’s going to be bad news tomorrow. Thanks to all those that wished me good luck tomorrow, I’ll keep you posted.
