Carolyn,
Enjoy the vacation. Glad that things are moving along for you now. I am still doing my "mock" cycle. When that is completed (early November) I will be active on the DE list at my clinic. From there it could take 6-12 months. Sure seems to take long, huh? Let's stay positive. Let's be pregnant together with summerbaby and all the other eggheads we love so much.

Hi everyone,

Update from me. Well after talking with DH at the weekend we are no longer going to clinic in USA. So I'm now back researching clinics in Europe. So far have been in touch with CEFER in Barcelona and they are quoting 3 months from initial consultation until embryo transfer. CERAM in Marbella are quoting 1 year and I'm waiting to hear back from ISIDA in Ukraine.

I like the sound of CERAM as they have an English person working there, the only thing putting me off is the 1 year waiting list, but in saying that I've 'wasted' 2 and a half years getting to this point so will another year be all that long?

I'm totally fed up and could happily torture DH :x if we had chosen Spain back in August when I started looking we would be much further down the road by now. I'm almost at that point where I will say just forget the whole thing!!

I hope everyone else is having a better time.

Carolyn, hope you had a good vacation. I would love to hear how your appointment with CERAM goes.

Kelly, how are you getting on with?

Summer, Hi, where are you going for your treatment?

Hii to everyone else.

Any advice on how to remain calm and collected would be much appreciated, as well as any hints and tips on how to cope with a DH that is slowly driving me insane

Apart from all that, I have my holiday to look forward to in the USA. We are spending Thanksgiving with my sister, her husband and her dear daughter who is almost 2. My sister has just done her 2nd transfer so I'm a wee bit wobbly about that (just jealous really) she will be testing next Monday so fingers crossed.

Take care,

Hi Pauline

They did not quote me 12 months said about 6!

I am back looking at Prague though - on holiday DH was diving with a couple from Prague and we got really friendly with them - afer a few drinks one night he said to them we could have done with your help wen we were trying to talk to clinic in Prague re IVF - would you believe that man and his ex wife had had IVF as sh had PCOS at gennet clinic in prague and got BFP on first go - he did loads of reasearch and chose that clinic based on lots of criteria and results - he is a scientist - he is oing to help us sort out appointment and even let us stay with them when we go for treatment - also when got home had a PM from someone who had been to very same clinic from UK and also got BFP - must be fate as how odd that we travel half way round world and meet couple with IVF experience xx

so that is next step - think still going to spain appointment as flighs are booked!

Both of them said though that there is someone who speks english available 24/7

good luck - keep calm with DH and remember at least you have holiday to look forward to - hope everythng works out for your sister xx

Kelly/Summer/Chris - hope you guys are all ok xxx

welcome back, carolyn! small world, isn't it? best of luck with all of your options. Sounds like you are on the right track!! Seems like all you needed was a little holiday for everything to fall into place!
I'm just curious as to why the person you met said that the clinic you looked into in Prague, and that I am going to, wasn't the best?

pauline - sorry your USA plans for DE didn't work out in the end. Sounds like a wonderful holiday you have planned. Got my fingers crossed for your sister!!
Oh how I miss Thanksgiving living here in Europe!!
We are at Pronatal in Prague with Dr. Mardesic. I have to admit I correspond with them in German and not in English, and they always get back to me right away. But from Carolyn's experience it might not be the best place for English-only speakers?? Although Dr. M speaks English, his help is limited in that area.

I know that Kelly (who just had her twins) went to Zlin. Another clinic popular with English speakers seems to be Reprofit in Brno...I have recently been reading a lot of good things about ISIDA and there was a program here on TV last week about a couple who were at Alicante ? in Spain -- the clinic looked wonderful there.

You really have to talk to the clinics and go and check them out yourself and go with who you feel most comfortable and confident with. Waiting times are estimates -- it also depends on how specific you want to be with your requirements too -- as to how long in the end you have to wait...

My recent hysteroscopy showed that everything was free and clear, so I'm looking forward to my tmt in 2009.

Hi to everyone else reading this thread! xx summer

We had our treatment @ GENNET in Prague and it worked :) Before choosing this clinic we traveled a lot and visited many clinics, I agree with summer, one must look into the clinics. Pronatal is crowded. Zlin is a quite small clinic and Reprofit gives you almost one year waiting periods - who wants to wait that long? We had looked into Spain as well, but found this is too expensive. Ukraine was cheaper, but we were not too comfortable going there: Ukraine has one of the highest HIV rates and on the top, we would need a visa.
We can only recommend GENNET, they have English speaking staff, availability 24/7, short waiting periods and reasonable prices. I know too well how frustrating this can get, it took us almost 10 months to find the right place to go...

Pauline, wish you luck in Spain / are you looking into egg or embryo donation?

Carolyn - I keep my fingers crossed for you :)

Hi ladies,

Anna - thanks for the info and congrats to you. I will look into GENNETT in Prague. I am looking for egg donation and it seems that as I'm looking for blue eyes and light brown hair the waiting lists are very long. Can I ask how long you had to wait at Gennett and an approx cost (if that isn't too cheeky). Where did you travel from (ie UK) I've tried looking up GENNETT on the internet and so far I'm not having much look in finding it -do you know the website address please?

Summer, I'm looking forward to spending Thanksgiving and shopping in the sales afterwards although I won't be getting up at the crack of dawn like my sisters friend does.

Carolyn, how are you doing?

We were planning on going over to see the REPROFIT clinic in Brno before we commit to anything but I'm now concerned that is has only been operating for 2 years (as well as the 10 month waiting list) - am I just being silly or would you recommend a clinic that has been around for longer?

Well best go as have more research to do now.

Take care, Pauline x

Hi Pauline, thanks to you and everyone for the wishes :)
Pauline, we traveled from Germany, my husband is from the UK but we live in Germany. I flew to Prague from the UK for the transfer, though, the flights are cheap. It took GENNET only 2 months to find us a donor. The price is now 4.500 EUR (they increased their prices this summer). We paid in addition for ICSI and my medication and for our frozen embryos we pay 40 Euros per year. We went there for the first time in May, my husband left a semen sample right away, they told us they had a donor end of June and I had the transfer end of August.
Try www.gennet.eu, email: ivf@gennet.eu. Our friend asked for frozen embryos (she said it costs much less) last week and she can have the transfer in January. Girls, I spent so much time looking into Spain, Cyprus, Israel, Ukraine... never thought it would work in the Czech Republic ... good luck to all of you, Anne

Hi eggheads past and present!!!

Hope someone can help me out ??

What did those that went abroad for treatment do about travel insurance? Did you get standard and not tell them what going for or did you tell them or did you get special cover??

Thanks in anticipation of your responses!!!

Hi Eggheads! Hope everyone is doing well. It sounds as though things are starting to fall into place for some of you. Hopefully everyone will be in good shape by the end of this year!

We are doing well! The twins are growing really well and are wonderful babies. We sure are lucky! I do wonder if having gone through so much to get them whether we, IVFers, are more likely to enjoy every second (the good and the bad) and complain very rarely - who knows, I suppose.

Carolyn. I can't help you with your health insurance questions because we were covered under our extended health care through work.

Have a great week everyone!

Hi everyone

Carolyn, I hope your appointment with CERAM went well.

Kelly, how is motherhood - hope all is going well.

well my dh and I got back from our holiday in America last Tuesday. We were staying with my sister, her dh and their 2 year old girl. We had a great time although we all came down with a heavy cold around the same time which was a bummer.

I'm now wondering if we should have a baby, especially seeing how much work is involved and also how would I cope with a baby if I were ill - honestly I'm such a terrible patient. I'm also now wondering again how it would affect our lives and relationship as I had another chat with DH warning him that if we had a baby, he would no longer be #1, possible lack of sex etc during pregnancy and afterwards - which he wasn't too keen to hear (I guess that is a man thing) but it does play on my mind.

I'm so annoyed having these doubts, as if we could get pregnant naturally then really I don't think I'd be analysing everything.

So, we were supposed to book an appt with the clinic in CZ for January but as of yet we haven't. I seem to have gotten lost and I'm not sure what the way forward is.

I hope everyone else is doing a lot better.

Wishing you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year.

Hi all

Popped into to wish you all a Merry Christmas ( it can be a hard time with everyone and their kids around) and a productive 2009...we need more egghead babies

Wishfull hoping all went well for your 1st appointment and the ball is now rolling for you and DH.... x x x

Pauline-hello!... Honestly the more you think about whether a child would fit into your life the more it messes with your head hun!!! I know only to well.In all honesty I really think you just end up coping with a child cos instinct will take over. Even those who can get preg easily have the same conversations you have had with Dh and the same worries as yourself. the only thing i would say babe is 'think about how you'd feel in 10 yrs time ???' if you dont give yourself this try will you regret it? See what you think. Also i went for a year out and did DE counseslling to get my head around the facts that, i couldn't have my own baby and it would be a donor egg and would i feel connected to it as much as DH etc... Many things go around your head at this time the girls on here hep though :D :D :D good luck x x x

Chriss hope your Mock cycle went well and lining etc was fab... good luck with the real thing when the time comes for you x x x muxh love sweetie x x x

Kelly hows you and your lovely twins x x hoping you have a fab family 1st christmas x x x :D :D

Hi to summer and anna and anyone else i have missed

i am doing ok... still thinking about trying again but health is a problem. So check in here to keep my eye on you girls and wish you all luck...

Good luck for 2009 Eggheads

Hiya

Pauline - glad you had a good break - think if we all thought how things would change our lives we would do nothing - you have to go with the gut instinct  - which clinic are you going to chose in Prague?

Jen - good to see you posting - bet your house is mad with the new puppy - we would love another dog - lost ours 2 years ago - but life too hectic at moment to even consider - much love to you and Dh for 2009 xx

Amma/Summer/kelly .. helooooo

Appointment went well and we really liked the clinic and the doctor - on the waiting list now - said would be 3/4 months - still going to check out Prague though

love to all
