I haven't been to my doctor about it as I assumed it would be quicker to go private!

Well I was trying to phone the local hospital/clinic all day yesterday and it was engaged all the time, so I'll try again today!

I finally got through to the DI unit at the Southampton Hospital and she has said that if I'm referred by my Doctor we'll get it there on the NHS!

I have an appointment with my Doctor next Wednesday and then we'll go on from there.

I have been told that I will have to have tests including a Laparoscopy, has anyone had one? What's it like?

i dont no what the lap test is like but im sure there are people on here that do
i had the test where they put dye through your tubes
also they will blood test you for ovulation etc when you see doc next week ask him to do the blood tests for you rubella ovulation aids and blood group,
i done this and then you can take results to hosp with you and it saves a lot of time and messing about
good luck

Hi Julia

I had the lap and dye about 5/6 years ago and it was fine, it was under a general anaesthetic, just day surgery and I was a little sore for a couple of days but that was it and then I returned to work and was absolutely fine. When I had it it was just a small incision in the belly button.

Hope this helps.

Hi juliat72,

You cerainly are in the same situation as me and my man! You answered a post of mine on another area of this site.
we have been trying for 2 years, after one year I went to my GP she took bloods tests from us both, and seman test from dh and refered us to the hospital, it took 11 months to get an appointment had that was in nov 03, the doctor there said I was ok, but were refering dh to a urologist, this waiting list was 3months, we had the appoinment there thursday, just gone. the doc said dh needs a biopsy to determine whether sperm are in the testis and then will take things on after that time, but the biopsy is another waiting list, 4months!!

We are worried about the results this biosy will reveal, but the doc basically said what ever the results, it looks like either ivf, donor sperm or adoption. I think donor will the option, but i guess its too early to know.

Has ur man had a biospy? What was it like? would love to hear from you!!

My hubby had had some tests before I was with him and then a couple of years ago had his sperm tested again and the result was the same. He has never had a sergical biopsy so can't help you there.

Good luck with yours!

Where abouts are you?
