I had a little trip when I was about 14 weeks. I didn;t land on my belly as much as my side and it wasn't nearly as bad as yours sounds. I didn't fall hard enough to bruise but the reason I'm writing back to you is to relay a story of my friend Lori who fell FLAT ON HER BELLY at 8 months pregnant. Really hard too. I saw the whole thing happen and I was scared to death. Dylan, her son, was and still is perfectly fine.
My Step grandmother also fell on her belly really hard with my step dads brother, to the point that she bled and went to the hospital but she and her baby where also fine.
So did a good friend of our family's with her son. And he was also unaffected.
You know there's an old wives tale that says that if you fall on your belly your carrying a boy. I guess it must be true since every story I had to tell, including my own, we where all carrying boys.
Maybe you are too?....lol
I'm sure you and your baby are fine. Good luck at your scan!!

Ahh SilverAngel

You really are an Angel arent you!!! thanks for sharing that with me. It comforts me to know that our bellies arent as fragile as we might think!! I just got my amnio results back today and they all came back great, but my fall kinda over shadowed that news . I am worried but not crazy worried, just one more thing to worry about..My DH is more freaked then me and treating me like I am five years old, but I think he saw the aftermath and it really scared him since he woke up tot hat at 4 am this morning.I am actually having two girls...so maybe they will turn into boys after the fall:)))) Maybe I shook somethings up and out...hee, hee just kidding...thanks again girl!

I'm so glad I was able to make you feel better. Yeah, the babies are pretty secure in there. They're WAY safer than we could ever think. As a matter of fact, I'll share another story with you. My little sister Sabrina was hit by a car last year. Pretty bad to the point that broke some vertebre in her neck and shattered her pelvis.
They told her in the hospital that she was 5 weeks pregnant. She had no idea she was and of course every one freaked out thinking that she would lose the baby.
My nephew Sam is 8 months old now and he's the cutest thing ever!! No problems with the pregnancy at all, considering my sisters trauma.
Let us know what happens at your scan tomorrow and here's to great news!!!

Hello Toobee!

Wow, SiverAngel you have some stories...my Lord! they definitely bring hope :)

I haven't had any fall, but I did read in one of my pregnancy books that falls during pregnancy are more common than people think (due to the imbalance that the belly creates), and the author urges women NOT to worry too much if that happens to them because babies are well protected in there (our belly's fat, the uterus, the sac, the amniotic fluid, and so on). She asked women to be cautious, but not overly concerned. She even writes about car accidents, seat belts (how important it is to wear them, and how they won't hurt the baby) and such. That said, my guess is that your babies are just fine :)

Best wishes at your ultrasound tomorrow. Keep us posted!

Hi toobee,
I never had a bad fall while pregnant, but I did work for EMS for 10 years, and I have picked up women who have fallen down the stairs while pregnant, and a woman who was struck by a car while pregnant. All the stories had happy endings and the babies were fine. We are so careful with the belly, and we don't realize how much protection there is around our little ones. I'm a firm believer in better to be safe than sorry, so see what your doc says about it. I would be more concerned about the dizzy spells which can be common during pregnancy, but you need to investigate why so that it doesn't happen when you are crossing the street or something. Hope you stay well! Congrats on your girls!!!!

I do have my dizzy spells checked. Some woman are just the lucky chosen few to expereince them along with the nose bleeds and I am one of them...woo hoo!!! My blood is checked frequently because I have auto immnue issues, so all looks good and normal and my iron is good to. I just have to move around slow and get up up slow and things like that. So no worries, but thanks so much!!!
