New here and wife is doing 2nd transfer.

Post by BIGREDIOWAN »

Hey everyone,

I'm obviously new to the board and my wife and I are going through our second transfer. We just did the transfer on Thursday and they transferred 3 embryos to her and hopefully they all take or at a minimum one takes. We have been through one invitro process as these 3 embryos are were left over after the first process. The harvested 18 eggs from her and 5 ended up being good enough for implantation. We've been trying for just over 3 years and are crossing our fingers. Just thought I would check this board out for some support from people going through the same problems. I get so nervous during this time, we find out Monday December 22nd if everything went okay or not.

(i'm assuming by your username that you're from Iowa? I have family in Davenport and visited this summer. We went out to the Bridges in Madison Cty & stopped by Pella which is beautiful)
Anyhow, best of luck this cycle! I hope you get the best xmas present ever - a BFP.

Thanks for all the warm wishes and baby dust everyone. I just reread my post and realized I mispelled quite a few things there lol. I work midnights so sometimes I'm really out of it. Good luck to all of you and here's to hoping that all of our dreams come true. :D

Well we went in for the pregnancy test today as today is day 11 since the transfer. Her hcg level was in the 650 range! That's pretty darn high isn't it?

Congrats BigRed! Sounds like a BFP! And 650is high but didn't you put back 3 eggs? Keep us posted on how she's feeling and it sounds like multiples in your future. :)

Thanks for the kind words Gina and not hopeless yet. Yeah, when I first heard those numbers I was like, "I think that means more than one?!" I'm not going to jump to conclusions yet and neither is my wife. We were so disappointed last time and we don't want that to happen again. Last time her original number was like 7 or 8 though so we were told she was probably going to have an early miscarriage, which is what happened. We go back on Wednesday at 9:30am for another blood draw to check the numbers again to make sure they are moving in the right direction. Then the next big date would obviously be the ultrasound a couple weeks later. I don't know how I'll afford multiples, but I will work my butt off to find a way.

I think any beta below 40 isn't viable. So that's why her previous "8" ended in MC. But this time it sounds like you're going strong! I'm so excited for you. It's tough not to get too excited on this fertility journey because even when we get good news we have another set of worries along with it. But what a Christmas gift you have received! Keep us posted.

I actually go in for ER on xmas and the doctors said I have 10 mature eggs plus another 5 smaller ones so far... so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a possible dozen retrieved. Yay!

I'll be praying for you not hopeless yet. My wife had 17 eggs orginally retrieved and only 5 were viable for transfer. 2 the first time, which we lost, and 3 this time. They were all very good quality though, which obviously helps some. I'm so nervous right now it's ridiculous. :D

Well we just got back from seeing a movie, Four Christmases, and the Doctor called us back with even better numbers. We are now at 1,691, he couldn't tell us if he thought it was multiples or not. We go in for our ultrasound on January 8th. Sounds like everything is going in the right direction right now.
