Hi everybody.........Just wanted some input on a day 2 transfer. My RE says I am a poor responder. They are expecting just maybe 2-3 embryos. She was asking me to consider a day two transfer.
Has anyone done a day 2 transfer? Does it have a better chance than a day 3 transfer for poor responders.I would appreciate it someone could share as much info about this with me.I am rather confused as to what to do
Thanx all for ur inputs.....Much appreciated.
appy - I can share with you my RE's philosophy. She says that if I have a lot of strong embryos that having them go until day 5 is better. BUT, if there are only a couple embryos that she puts them back in as soon as possible. Her thought behind this is this: on day 2 for instance, if there are many embryos growing - if she lets them grow until day 5, she'll be better able to tell which 2 are strongest. If there are only 2 growing, these will obviously be the two to put back in no matter what - and having them back in the uterus is better than a petri dish.
I have personally only had a 3dt because on day 2, all but 2 embies (out of 8 ) had arrested.

Hi, I am in the UK and my clinic only do 2 day transfers. I had 10 frozen embryo's all 2 day varying between 4 and 6 cell. I did 3 FET's and got pregnant on all 3. 2 were bio-chemical, on my final one we transferred 2, 2day 4 cell ebryo's and my twin boys are sleeping upstairs.
Believe in your RE, If the embies are good enough it does not matter what day they are transferred. My clinic believe they are better in their natural environment.
Good luck, hope your dreams come true.
Me 39, DH 40. TTC 5years
4th times a charm,1-IVF, 3xFET's, 2 chemical
Twin boys born 9/7/08
Thanx Gals for ur inputs. My Re too was saying just that........that it's better to place the embryos in their natural environment than in a lab.I was a bit confused cos my clinic always does 3 day transfers and this was just a trial they were conducting,so I was kind of unsure.
Well will again discuss with DH and decide what to do....Will think about a day 2 option too........
Beachbaby great to hear abt ur twins........U surely have given me hope!!!!!!
Thanx again
my second ivf i had a 2 day transfer and got PG..unfortunately i had a m/c later (thought to be a 'typical', unpreventable,m/c).. so it worked for me! i had only produced 2 big follies, so they put them both back in..it was a viable PG, heartbeat seen on u/s at 7 weeks, although it was low and measuring a week behind.
good luck
38 yrs. DOR, TTC since '04, recommended DE but didn't listen 3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)
