I know that we had another May thread, but it seems to have all but died. I'm on another thread elsewhere but I didn't want the other ladies who participated on the first May thread to miss out based on a misunderstanding that I was involved in. I feel partly responsible for the death of the other thread. So let's try this again.
Let's talk about our pregnancies and our babies - as much or as little as we want!
Also, I don't want this to diverge into a bad experience for anyone else so if we could leave off any discussion about the ending of the last thread I'd greatly appreciate it. Any personal issues, IMHO, should be addressed in PMs.
I'll start - I'm due on May 24th. We just got some screening results back today and I'm at the lowest risk for Down's, Edward's, and neural tube defects. I think I'll be doing the 20 week scan the week of Jan. 5th. All good news!

Sorry my week has just completely gotten away from me. 150 christmas cards. whew! done!
21 weeks today (i know, my ticker is always a few days off) and I just can't believe that I am more than half way there.
We had the 20 week anatomy scan and the boys looked great. One was a ham and one was shy. They are growing well and big for their age which is always great w/ twins. I have been happy and less nervous this week.
We just went to a holiday brunch and got the low down on a lot of baby gear you need and a lot you don't from other moms at the party. I also recommend the book Baby Bargains (make sure it is a current edition) It's been a real life saver for things like crib mattresses and and cribs. As have other moms. Always remember your going to need $ for diapers!
Another doc appt tomorrow morning (regular check up) and then having a quiet holiday w/ DH.
Stef - 150 cards, yikes! We bought 50 but won't send them all out.
Thanks so much for the Baby Bargains rec - I saw someone else recommend it too so I will for sure check it out.
Glad to hear your scan went well. Those boys will be here before you know it!
I've had trouble sleeping lately. My hips get really sore sleeping on my side. I'll be picking up a sleep pillow to help combat that. I think my hips are also tighter than normal since I missed prenatal yoga last week due to holiday madness.
OB appt. tomorrow. Hope to schedule our anatomy scan then.
Tomorrow we have 4 family members coming into town. They'll be staying with us for a week. Spent all weekend getting the house ready. Looking forward to a little down time with family.
How's everyone else?

I recommend the snoogle. It changed sleeping for me. i was having the exact same hip pain, and also I was rolling onto my back in the night. It's about 50 bucks but worth it, and you can craig's list it, or nurse w/ it, or let the kids play w/ it when you're done.
I sleep mostly w/ it like a c around my back, and tucked under and in between my legs. this keeps my back in alignment. The top of the C is my pillow for my head. I also recommmend facing out on the bed so you don't get trapped in it during frequent nighttime bathroom visists.
we had a great mellow xmas. Got mostly baby stuff which is what we need and want and looking forward to a mellow week of cleaning and getting our board application in place for the new building.

Christmas here was fairly mellow too considering we have 4 guests in town for a week. I did a fair amount of cooking but also had tons of help. You were really smart to ask for baby stuff. We just finished the basement so we got mostly bar stuff.
I did something really stupid today. I was sitting on my foot at my desk and it fell asleep. I got up and my foot buckled when I tried to stand on it, so I sprained my ankle! Not too bad of a fall so no worries for baby, but something I just don't need to be dealing with right now.
Our scan is scheduled for Jan. 7th. Can't wait!

Kerpupples- I think you will like the snoogle. That is the pillow i had and it helped alot, although there were some nights that nothing helped, so be prepared for that too.
Me- 28 DH- 33 Male Factor
1st IVF- 12/07- BFP! Ella Michele was born 8/26/8
2nd IVF- 04/09 - BFN
1st FET- 09/09 - Chemical
3rd IVF - 04/11 - Embies didn't make it to ET
4th IVF - Fall 2011??
Happy New Year - I just toured the hospital. I thought there would be 8-12 people on the tour. Maybe twenty. Nope....90+ people showed up!!!! Insane, and then the hospital was fully booked so we couldn't see any labor rooms. or recovery rooms. crazy. I guess that is life in NYC. But it's a really good hospital - I guess word is getting out.
I am happy these days. Signed up for classes. working on our board application for the new building, and getting stuff organized for babies. I feel very peaceful even though all the pieces aren't there.
all is good.
Oh, but why must you tell someone you're 22 weeks and then they tell you about their horrid triplet miscarriage at 23 weeks???? WHY would they think I'd want to hear that?!! People have no clue.
I got my Snoogle in the mail last night. DH wanted me to order one for him too! I did still have some problems with my hips but I think it's as Michele says - there will be nights when nothing will help. I actually propped myself up with a bunch of pillows on my back for about 3 hours which gave some relief. The top and middle portions of the Snoogle were heaven!
Stefanie - 90+ people, holy crap! I hope you can get a room on delivery day - yikes. I need to schedule a hospital tour myself. I do have some reservations about this hospital so if I don't like what I see I'll find another. I'll have to change doctors in the process, but I think it would still be worth it. Are the classes you're taking birthing classes? Feeling any movement yet? I haven't gotten any horror stories like that from anyone yet, thank goodness. Crossing my fingers that I won't.
I have my scan tomorrow so I'll check back in afterwards.

I am taking a few classes. I am not going overboard with birthing classes, because w/ twins there is a 50% chance of c section, and I have to deliver in the regular part of the hospital not the birthing center. That said, I am listening to hypnobirth CDs, and I am taking a one day Lamaze class with a nurse at our doctor's office later this month.
The other class we are taking is a one-night breastfeeding seminar - I feel like birth is a moment and then I need to understand about breastfeeding, tips for success, and pumps etc.
Then we are taking a feeding, childcare/ CPR class at the hospital. This class is bathing, diapers, swaddling, feeding (including pumping and bottle feeding as well as breastfeeding) and Infant CPR. It's more about what to do w/ these guys when we get home.
I know there are great natural childbirth classes out there. And DH and I do want to prepare, but w/ twins we are really focusing on life after the birth, getting help in place, etc. etc.
Speaking of I have to go call this annoying woman who keeps reconfirming the wrong date etc.
OK, first the results everyone asks about first - it's a girl! The ultrasound tech gave us a picture of the labia so I think she was fairly certain. I was worried that DH would be disappointed but he is thrilled to be expecting a daddy's girl. I would have been happy either way. The shopping will be better with a daughter though.
Baby measured on track and everything looks normal and healthy. My plancenta previa is still around though. Had a transvaginal ultrasound to try to pinpoint the implantation spot. The results weren't conclusive but it appears to be implanted just adjacent to my cervix. So, we continue to watch and I'm preparing myself for having to deliver via C-section. Not ideal, but as long as baby and I are healthy I'm fine with it.
Stefanie, you inspired me to start looking for classes. We scheduled a hospital tour and will be taking many of the same classes you are, especially now that we are likely going to have a C-section as well. Have you told many people about the C-section. I know some are judgmental about it so I'm not looking forward to having to deal with that.

Very very cool thing happened last night. DH and I were on the couch watching TV and I could feel baby moving around. So I put my hand on my belly and sure enough, I could feel little pushes! I put DH's hand on my belly and he could feel them too. I really didn't expect to feel it this early but she's been getting awfully active.
Stef - try this when your guys are in an active mode. I didn't expect to feel anything so it was such a wonderful suprise!
We're going around in circles over 3 different names. Oh, and I finally picked up Baby Bargains - wow, what a great book! I think we're going to try to register this weekend.

Congrats on your girl. One name will stick. We had three names and ten two just took. And that's been it.
Glad the scan went well!
Baby bargains is the bomb. I registered at Babies R us and then at a nicer store called giggle for a couple of hip things that babies r us didn't carry. I will say that babies r us, has a whole lot more organic stuff than I thought.
Isn't nice to hit that 20 week time? Feel them move.
SOmeone said I might be feeling a little less because there is less room but I will definitely feel better next week. I always feel stuff in the evening after dinner which makes me wonder.
