Hi everyone! We had a little hiatus from this posting as I think we were all in a mourning for annie's baby...but i'm glad to be reading your posts again.
esperanza and donna: i too have shortness of breath which is probably common, but i've also had a fast heart beat..pounding all of a sudden, fatigue, and slight dizziness. We had them check my hemoglobin for anemia, and sure enough, I'm pretty anemic at 9.9 from 12.6 baseline. Actually for pregnancy, less than 10 is anemic, so i guess it's still "mild" They just recommended a iron pill. Just letting you know, in case the symptoms get worse...20% of pgs have anemia...and i think since i have twins, it increases the chances...i had meat aversions as well which probably didn't help :)

jennywit: i share the concerns as well...the time in between u/s seems like a lot, even if its only 3 wks...i'm excited as i get my peri check up on thursday...hopefully the cervix is holding up.

sonu: how are you doing? are the tensions in india getting slightly better?

How's everyone else?

Anyone start buying furniture/strollers, etc yet? I've bought 2 outfits and some onesies as well as a pack of diapers - expensive!! will be adding stuff to my registry this weekend.

Take care

Hey friends!!

Its so nice to read your mails after a long time. I am sorry for being absent for a long time, my laptop crashed a few days back. And I can understand alreadyblessed's situation. Life becomes so much more difficult without one's workstation!! :)

Life is ticking back to normalcy after the terror attacks in Mumbai and I thank all of you for showing concern. Though terrorists attacks have been happening in the different parts of the India, but this time impact is much more severe.

I can't believe that I will be stepping into my third trimester tomorrow with the onset of 28th week!! time has flown by and I can't thank God enough for this blessing. The little one is active then ever before now, mostly moving at nights..lol!! danger sign for the days ahead. :D the sleeping and waking up pattern is almost predictable. Having short breadth and stuffy nose with slight headaches, mood swings comes with the package and like you all I am also not complaining!! I am getting bigger day by day...and getting up from the bed or rolling from one side to the other is an uphill task. For me sleeping on my left is more difficult than sleeping on my right!! Now I know how one can never go by books. :)

babyloves- I hope that you pick up on iron levels. And wishing you the best for your checkup. I will also be going for regular checkup this weekend. how r the two girls doing? kicking hard and giving you sleepless nights or behaving nicely!!

donna - My symptoms are so like you. There is no heartburn or gas but I can feel the food digesting. I will be so tired in turning from one side to the other on the bed and the heart will start pounding all of a sudden. he he...this all is fun. I know its going to get worse now. And yes, just few days left for your b'day...I just had it a month back on Nov 9. :) Time for festivities and joy!!!

Esperanza - To share a funny thing which I can do only here...every morning its a ritual for me to check my tummy in the mirror...because I am always afraid if it has shrunk down..lol!!! funny...and yes about the movements, i share the same concern. Its so hard to be normal.

Take care...and enjoy every moment of getting bigger!!!

Hey friends

Annie-I don't know what to write but I can just say that God is watching us all and he has the best plans for us. Though we fail to understand times like this when we lose the most valuable and treasured thing in our lives. Pl. know that we all love you and wish for you the best!!

Last two days have been really scary for me and I almost came close having emergency c-section. It started with some kind of discharge. At first I could not understand what was happening to me, and I immediately called my caregiver who asked me to visit the clinic. the doc guessed urine infection but to what extent only reports would tell. She gave me all the options including c-sec, if infection was bad. They even gave me injections to make baby's lung strong in case of emergency c-sec, if need arises. Anyway, I was asked to stay in the hospital under their observation. By God's grace night went peacefully and the medicine that they gave me to insert vaginally, relieved the discharge to a great extent.

Anyhow, I went in for detailed blood and urine culture the next morning and we all were relieved as they report said minimal fungal infection and the docs were relieved that there was no further growth of fungus. We also had a sonography and the baby was doing great and there was absolutely no loss of amniotic fluid. I am happily back home but with a word of caution. I am taking care of my fluid intake. The reports however showed that I am anemic and my sugar levels are also up. So a lot of pampering myself in store for me till the baby arrives finally.

Sorry that this mail has been about me but i had to share this with you all!! I hope you all are doing great and busy shopping for the Christmas :)

annoyances of pregnancy

Post by Literatriz »

Hi all,
So good to be back...I kept Annie/Amazy in my heart and wish she is reconstructing her life after such a difficult trial.
We are doing great here, DH a bit overloaded with the way my body looks and behaves (this is his first bio pregnancy). We are not having any intimacy...which is not so good as I feel so feminine with my big boobs and my livey belly. Alreadyblessed mentions novelty stores and AA batteries :) is this somethign your husband witness and interacts with ? This is completely news to me, dear, so any hint helps!
I am seeing my peri every two weeks now - like tomorrow. My cervix is holding Ok so far but I am much more tired now. The girls are active, but very shy - when DH touches my belly they keep quiet. I believe later it will be impossible not to see. I've read that if they are more active at night (like Sonu's child), we can't let them sleep long naps during the day - bathing, picking them up, sunbaths... so they learn about how to respect mom's circadian rythym.
Babyloves, we are checking strollers out$$$....triple strollers do exist, they are bulky and heavy...just like three babies! I hope you are enjoying your double dose as well, and taking care of your anemia. I do take iron suplement, and also take puzzles to the bathroom as the constipation makes me spend A LOT of time there. Eating more dark green veggies appear to help both the anemia and the constipation
Alreadyblessed, I hope you are now able to pee and not to fear looking the toiled paper...I felt that until one month or so ago. Wish your cervix is nice and strong! As for the dry skin...my grandfather had a great recipe: NO SOAP out of genitals, neck and armpits. It keeps the natural moist in. Nothing worked better for me. And I am Luciana from Brazil!
Speaking of annoyances...sorry to hear that Esperanza's intestinal tract is giving her a hard time...I've tried a bit of Mylanta and it helped. Hope you find the foods that do not generate that effect as bad (in my case, no beans, no tomatoes, no sugar).
Sonu, what a scary experience! Nice to hear it was only an imbalance on your vaginal Ph...with the fungus taking advantage of the situation. Now that you are back home...use the internet to browse for presents - we sould not go shopping that much as we may forget to eat, to drink and to rest...I loose track of time when I go shopping...which I don't do very often :) this year I am saving catalogs just to brainstorm gift ideas so I don't need to stroll up the Mall that much.
Wishing you a calm, healthy Pre-holiday week!

Hi dears!

Good to hear from everyone :)

AMY, my heart shrunk when I read your post, how sweet of you to write those words. I want you to know that I think of you often. HUGS!

SONU-- how scary! oh my God, I got nervous while reading your post, I'm glad things are doing better now. How have you been feeling? Sending you lots and lots of healing thoughts. You're on your 3rd trimester...Oh MY GOD!!!!! beautiful ;)

Actually, I'm just like you, I feel much more comfortable sleeping on my right side, we've got something in common! I have a hard time not sleeping on my back, it's my favorite position, I do it for a few minutes and then I switch. It's definitely becoming more uncomfortable to sleep.

DONNA---how are those cold showers going   Oh my, nice remedy in the middle of the winter...brrrr.... My name is Romina, but you can all call me Romi :)

BABYLOVES-- thank you for the heads up about anemia. I had that terrible aversion to meats during my first trimester (by the way, I just shared that with a good friend the other day and his response was "awwww...your baby is a vegetarian" ....lol! I thought that was funny), but I tried to eat/drink foods that would keep my iron up. I had it checked about 2 months ago and it was fine, but I'll bring it up to my midwife during my next visit just in case. I had a really intense surgery when I was 19 and I got pretty anemic then because I was not able to eat properly. Well, besides the iron, my mom gave me a lot of guava juice, green leaf veggies, red peppers, liver, raisens, and so on. Now, I try to do the same (except the guava juice because you can't find fresh guava around here) plus walnuts, and black beans (not good for gas, but good for nutrition). Best wishes on your peri visit on Thursday :)

No strollers or anything like that for us yet. I do have a few little things that I got before I got pregnant (when I was trying to stay positive) -onesies, socks, and a tiny little size UMass t-shirt (that's where I did my master's). My mom just sent me a package with the most beautiful little handmade dress...too cute! and my auntie sent me a set of receiving blanket, hat, mittens, etc. Adorable! We don't have a culture of registry back home, so I'm going to have to be pushed out of my comfort zone in order to do that...we'll see. I do want to make a few things for the baby this break AND I want to get whatever it's necessary without excess...I'm really trying to be conscious about consumption and the environment. Let's see!

LUCIANA-Oi! Como va voce? Ok, I'm interested in that conversation about novelty stores and AA batteries  I have to admit that growing up in a Catholic culture has not helped my "self-pleasure" ...for real! I do see it as normal and natural for anybody to make him/herself happy, but I can't get myself to do it...it's weird, I think that those priests and my parents did a good job at stopping that human site of me :( My dh it's really bad right now...I've tried to seduce him a couple of times, but he won't give in...it's all about the girl and how concerned he is about hurting her...I understand, but it's not making this mama happy

Speaking of boobs, mine are huge...at least for me, Oh Lord, I seriously have to go get some new bras, my girls are "falling out" the ones I have.

Let us know how it goes at your peri's visit. Best wishes. Thanks for the tip on the soap.

About me, I'm done with the semester...aaaaahhhhh, what a relieve! I'm proud of myself for completing all my work on time. While doing IVF I was always behind and lacked motivation most of the time, I became a really bad student then, but being pregnant has given me a different light. Now, I'm taking it easy and giving some much needed love to my house. I'm into decorating, cleaning, and fixing mode...am I nesting or what? 8) I'm not a crafty person, but I got this urge to make things for our baby. I need to get some materials, and look around my house to see what I can recycle into baby blankets, and so on. It's interesting, to say the least.

Luv to everyone.

hello hello hello!
First.... Hello Annie. I can't lie, I cried when I read your post. You are such a strong woman, and the size of your great big heart shines through all your posts. I think of you often, and although this is probably one of the hardest times in your life, I am certain that God has an amazing and fulfilling plan for you and your DH. You are truly an AMAZ(U) ing woman! Glad to still be able to hear from you.

It's so good to be back on line and reading all of your posts. I actually had a tiny scare on Friday. DH and I were shopping for furniture so that we could double our girls up into one small bedroom, and when I went to the bathroom, I noticed some dark brown blood in my undies, and when I wiped. I thought here we go again. Called the doc who made me come right in. They checked my cervix and did a sono. All looked well, and then they put me on a monitor to make sure I wasn't having any contractions. All looked well, and so I was sent home on bedrest for the weekend and told to take it easy this week until my appt next Friday. The bleeding was more and more scant, and now is pretty much gone. Thank God. It is just a constant reminder that every day of the pregnancy is a gift. Oh and I have been put on "pelvic rest" translation.....no naughty business for now.
Sonu~ you must have been so scared with them telling you you may have to deliver your baby now. Thank God all turned out well and you are still holding strong. You said that your sugar levels are up. Are they worried about gestational diabetes? Do they just want you to rest for now? The good news is that you are getting closer and closer to a pretty safe time to deliver even if you had to go a little early. I will be praying for you. Enjoy letting your DH pamper you, and keep us posted.
Luciana~ Your post made me laugh as I know what you mean. We feel feminine and ready to go, and the DH's feel like the baby will fall out if they touch us. Novelty toys have been a part of our marriage since the beginning, as I have always had a hard time reaching my "peak" through intercourse alone. I found that a small inexpensive vibrator called a "bullet" can make an unbelievable difference for a womans experience. Yes, DH does participate. Sometimes I will use it during, sometimes after, and sometimes when he is watching the football game and not in the mood    True there are some toys out there that get really crazy, so it depends on your preference. You will find that the tiniest and simplest of things can do wonders though. I truly don't know how I lived without them, and DH feels happy knowing that I am always as satisfied as he is. On a pregnancy note, I am glad to hear that your cervix is holding out. How many weeks are you now? I will bet you are tired carrying around those 3 little girls :). Have you decided on any names yet? And as for me...you can see from my post that I will probably be looking at the toilet paper until I give birth. :?

hola Romi! Apriendiendo espanol. :D I read your post about having a hard time sleeping. Have you looked into a body pillow? I purchased one with my first pregnancy in 1999, and can't sleep without it. It is a God send when you are pregnant. Soooo comfortable. Check them out. As far as registering goes, I know that it is not natural for you, but if you think of it this way it may help....Friends and family are going to want to get something for you and your baby when the time comes, and most people do not know what you will need, or you will wind up getting 2 or 3 of the same things. If you register, noone is obligated to purchase anything, but it lets them know what you are needing. You can register for things as inexpensive a a tube of Desitin of diapers all the way up to furniture and strollers. It's whatever you are comfortable with. I must say though that a few of my coworkers crochet and they made me a beautiful blanket and sweater, and those handmade gifts from the heart are by far more valuable than anything store bought. On the physical note... I know what you mean about the boob thing. Mine were big to start with, so I figure that they will be dragging the floor behind me when I leave the hospital. I will leave footprints and boob-tracks in the snow   As far as the rest of me, I have gained 15 lbs so far, which is less than my last two, but I started heavier this pregnancy, so I will have alot of work to do to get back to a nice size post pregnancy. And yes, you are nesting. This is the time for it, and just the other day, my husband came home to find me cleaning the grout around the faucets with a butter knife and cloth. We just can't help it. I may just see if I can afford to have a cleaning crew come in a few weeks before I'm due and do a complete overhaul of the whole house. I'm sure that would make me feel better.

babyloves~ hope you are feeling better from the anemia. Are you still having meat aversions, or was that only in your first trimester? The iron pill should help but watch out for that mean old constipation. I havn't officially registered yet because I was feeling wierd about it since I have a 9 y/o and 4 y/o. I have a crib, changing table dresser car seat etc. , but everyone keeps telling me that I should because I have nothing "boy" and am in need of new things as it will be 4 1/2 years from my last baby when my son is born. I suppose I will register, probably right after the holidays, but keep it slim. The hardest thing I have been trying to do is find small furniture so that I can double my girls up into one room. Hopefully I will get lucky soon, so DH can begin painting the babys room and getting things ready.

Take care ladies!!! Talk to you soon!
~Donna :)

Hello ladies,

I am coming to all of you for some advice. I am on the June mommy board and I am currently 12 wks along. I have been released by my RE but I do not have my first appoint w/ my OB until next Tuesday. At my last u/s w/ my RE, he told me to stop taking the progesterone vaginally today. So I haven't taken any today but now I am noticing that I have some pressure and soreness over my ovaries. Actually, it feels like I am going to start my menses. My questions are:

When you ladies stopped your progesterone did you have some of the same feelings? Should I be concerned and call my RE or my OB? And when you did stop did you titrate down or did you just stop them all together? My RE actually wanted me to stop at week 6 when they heard the first heart beat but I was terrified because of my history and I asked if we could wait until I was 12 wks along.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Angela

First of all congratulations on reaching the end of the most dreadful first trimester!!
Secondly any uneasiness should be reported immediately to the doc, its always good to be on the safe side, as this is our very precious pregnancy. Pl. let your RE know your concerns however immature they may seem.
I have been on progesterone suppositories from the beginning which was reduced to once a day after my 12th week. My doc continued it just to be on the safe side.

I wish for you the best!!!

Hello sonu911,

Thank you so much for the reply. I took your advice and called my OB. They stated the same thing as my RE, that they prefer for their patients to be weaned off of progesterone by week 12 but if I have some spotting or bleeding to call them right away. I haven't had any of the spotting or bleeding (knock on wood).

I hope everyone else is doing well and have uneventful pregnancies.

Thanks again,

Angela

Hello Angela,

I'm glad you called your doctor, that's what I was going to recommend. I stopped progesterone exactly at week 12 (and I was SO SO SO happy!). Know that stretches and uncomfort in our lower abdomen area is quiet common during pregnancy (I know we worry so much about every little thing!) because our muscles, ligaments, uterus, etc are stretching to open up space for the baby. I had some uncomfort yesterday and I was worried, but voila! I'm feeling well today, so I think it was just a growth spur :)

Congratulations and welcome to the second trimester!

ANNIE--I need to apologize, I've been calling you Amy this whole time. Sorry dear. Sending lots of love and thinking of you.

SONU--how are you and your precious pregnancy going? I'm thinking about you as well. Are you following a special diet? How's your sister doing? well, too many questions. Sending love to you.

DONNA--Hola amiga! hahahha, good, you're learning Spanish ;) sorry to hear about your scare, it's funny (well, not really) how I've also developed the habit of checking the toilette paper everytime (even though I haven't had the same episodes as you with this pregnancy). I'm glad the baby is fine, but heck! that is scary :? AND I'm sorry about the pelvic rest ;) Oh, oh, and thanks for telling us about "the bullet" ...I'll look into it, you made me curious!

Thank you for your words about registry, you've made some good points, I guess I'll start thinking about it. I've thought of getting one of those pillows but I haven't done anything to really get one. After your description, I think I'll get one for sure, it's hard not to get a good night sleep, and I can only imagine how difficult it will get as this belly grows bigger. Can I say that you made me laugh for a good 15 minutes when I read about your boob tracks on the snow...hehehehehehhehehhee!!!! you crack me up. Well, I guess it will be 2 of us, but I will leave my tracks on the desert sand

Alright, this baby is growing, I'm happy about it, but it also makes me nervous, when I feel the stretching, presure and uncomfort I can't help to think that something "might" be wrong. Yesterday I spent the whole day worrying about it because I was feeling teh unfomfot, but today is back to "normal" so I guess my little one was just streching in there.

I hope all of you are doing well. Hugs

Hey girls -- Just crashing your thread again to see how you all were doing and to make sure that things were still going great with my girl Esperanza.

Its been a while since I have been here so I haven't read all the post but I do see that most of you are starting to get those uncomfortable feelings of pregnancy. Please, Please, Please just relax and enjoy every minute. Don't worry about anything. You are all fine. For me it seemed that after that six months mark things started to go downhill as far as comfort. You will feel back pains, butt pains, legs pains, tit pains, chest pains, hand pain, stomach pains. It's all a sign that the little one is definately in there and that he/she is doing its most growing.

You girls will definately need to get yourself one of those body pillows from month 7 out. That was truly the only way I could even get to sleep some nights. Most nights I needed it and some nights I found that I was more comfortable without it. Just a regular pillow tucked between your legs don't do the full job. That whole pillow curved around you feels like heaven. That's be the best $60 that you'll ever spend during pregnancy.

Well I must go but you girls keep up the good work. The holidays are here and before you know it they will be gone and just a few months after your new little ones will be here.

As for me, we are looking forward to our first Christmas with our 2008 bundle of joy Michaela. There are tons of new pictures of her on her website, please take a look www.michaelaskye.shutterfly.com. She is truly our blessing from GOD!!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!!!!

Hi ladies...
wow...lots of responses..and i thought no one was writing as i stopped getting emails from our thread :o Anyway...i'm at work so i won't be able to do personals yet, but i did have a scary few hours yesterday...
thanks for warning me about the iron ladies, but i didn't think this was going to happen to me...it's really gross  : please dont' read further if you get grossed out by poop:

so i tried to have a #2, and it got stuck in my rectum causing extreme pain at work...and i drive 1 hr away. So, i stopped the car and tried again with no luck. Then, i got some dulcolax suppositories and quickly inserted one with no luck while at home. kept sitting there at home trying to push and push...wondering if my babies would pop out ...no luck except more discomfort and now i was having rigors like i was getting a bacterial infection in my blood (i'm in infectious diseases so i think too much). Pushed until my bottom was soo sore. Then, poor DH (thank god he's a doc too :) gave me an enema and sat there with me while i had a BM...coaching me...just so disgusting. Anyway, i had great relief and then a soothing shower afterwards. DH is true blue...

I stopped eating 3-4 prunes for a day and this is what happened. I need to drink 2 quarts of water and more fiberous foods from now on. The meat aversion is gone, and i'm trying to eat more red meat...
Anyway, those of you on iron..please take care. Just glad i didn't need to make a hospital trip. Hopefully the babies are okay...waiting for them to kick momma lots so i know they're okay :D

Again sorry for grossing you out  Any more constipation advice would help...
