So I had my first ultrasound today & they say I am 6 weeks but I was measuring a little smaller like 5.7. The dr. said she is in no way worried as most Ivf patients are a little off. I however want reassurance from you guys.
We saw & heard the heartbeat (107) & I think she said the baby was measuring around 3-4"...So according to the us tech & dr everything looked great. I go back in 3 weeks for another ultrasound.
Oh, I just knew with my numbers I was carrying twins but they only saw one...

I think seeing a heartbeat at this stage is the best that can be expected. Congratulations! My baby has consistently measured a couple days ahead vs. behind. I think you're right, as long as it is close they are happy.
BTW at this stage the baby is probably 3-4 mm and not inches.

If the doctor told you not to be concerned, then don't be! I think babies can measure a bit behind sometimes without no complications. I had an ultrasound about 2 weeks ago (I was about 22 weeks) and my baby was 4 days "behind." My midwife told me that was within "normal range"...
I know it's hard after all we've gone through but, enjoy your pregnancy

I have measured behind from the start. I had a scan around the same time as you - a few days before 6 weeks - and there was not even a heartbeat. A week later there was a heartbeat. For a long time I was up to 5 days behind but now I am more or less on track - only a day or so depending on the scan.
I too had a scan, but they couldnt see a heartbeat just yet. I was told that it can be too early. Im having another one on Monday (6 days later) am praying they see a heartbeat ....

We must now let go of the life we had planned, to live the life waiting for us..
Yes, I realized my mistake on the size. mm not inches. oops.
Guess I'll try to relax then. The dr. definately said she is not concerned at all. I would think we'd measure behind since they take your retrieval date then go 2 weeks back to figure your due date. To me that would make you 2 weeks farther along than you actually are. Confusing to me.
I was so excited to see & hear the heartbeat! From what I'd read on here I wasn't expecting that at all but it was quite clear & I actually asked if that was the heartbeat I was seeing before the tech even told me.
She also said my numbers could have been so high because maybe I was carrying twins & one miscarried & that could also be the reason for the little behind, if I had 2 at one period.

Can you help? I went yesterday.. I was 7W2D, my RE said they saw the fetal pole and the sac but no heartbeat. He said that it had grown from last week. He sent me for a more detailed U/S. They said that I was measuring at 4mm which is more close to 6 weeks vs 7 weeks and they also didn't see the heartbeat. They were not optimistic at all. Then I went back to my regular RE and he said it could really go either way and sent me for another HCG. That came back at 24K up from 5K last week. I go back on Friday for another U/S. I am obviously devasted and I am thinking the worse.
I replied to your other post & now that you said 4mm I guess that's what she told me was 3-4 mm & they put me at 6wk, 1 day (yesterday). Try not to worry too much. I know from reading others stories on here that it can still be early for the heartbeat. I know right off the bat when the tech started my us she said we're going to "try" to get a heartbeat. So try to relax, easier said than done I know. Please keep us updated.

I did read that but you are a week behind me so those measurements make sense. My retrieval was on Nov. 9th and the transfer was a day 5 on Nov 14th. They said the same thing to me at 6 weeks and I really wasn't worried... and now I am petrified. I also read today that you may not see a heartbeat if the embryo is under 5 mm which mine is BUT I also know that it should be measuring bigger at this point. I guess all I can do is wait... thanks for the input.

Congrats on a great HB so early and yes your RE is shooting you straight. The U/S from what I have been told by all three of my DR's is accurate within a week. It is not exact measurements, so if you are measuring 6w5d but you are 6w7d, it certainly does not mean gloom and doom. The U/S is great, but my Peri said its not solid science as far as measuring the babies, so as long as they measure within a week of where your supposed to be at, your in good shape. The HB is very important, it should increase as you go and by 10-15 weeks it starts to slow down. Our twin HB's got up to 170+-180+, and now they are steady in the 150's

congrats to you!!! very awesome!
Thanks, I was very excited when I saw a little spot beating on the screen then when she gave me sound I just started shaking. I guess I'm within range then. I still don't know why my betas were so high & it's not twins, unless like she said, could have been twins at one time.

tkh - just wanted to let you know that my first beta 13 days past 3 day transfer was 477.
The first two u/s I had (week six, week seven) showed a singleton. My husband kept telling me that my numbers were too high to just be a single. Of course, I just told him he was just crazy.
Low and behold, at week eight my r/e starts to look and there is baby number 2.
Apparently he/she was hiding behind number 2 and I had a few large cysts due to the stimming that all shrank in size by week 8.
Now I have to put up with my husband telling me that I never listen to him.

See I was wondering if it could be hiding but the tech said she would move around & it would be obvious if there was another sac since it's a large dark area. So I figured it was a done deal. They didn't do another beta so I have no idea what the numbers are now. But in a week it went from 404 to 7925. first was 14d3dt. My next ultrasound is at week 9 so maybe we'll know for sure then. They each have their own sac right or not necessarily? I do know my ovaries are still enlarged because she said they are "getting" back where they should be. We are fine with single or twins of course but I just "felt" all along like there were two.
