Massage during 2ww????

Post by sprouthaus »

Hello all you wonderful ladies!

I have just started the 2ww and I was wondering if it is OK for me to get a nice relaxing massage. I am curious what others think. I know when I see my usual masseuse she always asks me if there is any chance I am pregnant.

Does anyone know? I'd love to pass the next 2ww with some enjoyable activities like a massage.

hey sprout... i am not sure about the 2WW but I know I got turned away at my massage place since I was in my 1st trimester. My doctor told me not too worry and just don't tell the next place I was pregnant, I just needed to avoid having my abdomen massaged. I would ask my doctor tho just in case.

I've heard they're are certain pressure points in the back that can cause miscarriage in the first trimester. I'm not sure how true it is or if it's just an old wives tale, but it's what I heard

Thank you all for your input. I've cancelled my massage and I think I'll just schedule an extra acupuncture appt - it doesn't feel quite as good, but relaxes me just as much :P

I have a great masseuse who has been in the field for 30 years. I go every week. She regularly massages pregnant and trying to get pregnant women and has never seen a problem. She said she avoids heat on the lower back and does not massage the lower back area or abdomen. But, arms, legs, neck, upper back are all fine.

I went during my 2 WW (after our 2nd ivf) and was much more relaxed than previous times. I am now 6 weeks preg.

I think they tell you they can't massage you if you could be preg to avoid you coming back to them later and saying its their fault you didnt get preg or that you didnt stay preg.
