IVF pregnancies

Post by beth »

Hi Everyone,

I was just curious...a friend of mine said that her RE told her when you go thru IVF and you have a positive result, you have an 80% chance that you are pregnant with a boy. That seems very high. She did have success AND had a boy. So I am wondering if our stats come close to 80%. or if anyone has gotten any statistics regarding the sex from your RE's?

Multiples, vote more than once, I guess.

thanks!

My RE didn't give me a % but she did say that there is a selection bias for boys in IVF. I think there was a study that showed that male embryos divide more quickly in the very early stages, and since the biggest strongest embryos are transferred more boys are born.

My current BFP is from one of our slowest frozen embies, so based on this theory it is more likely to be a girl. We find out at our scan a week from tomorrow.

I checked that out and it says that heavier women have more girls in IVF. I guess I'm the exception to that rule. I'm a big girl and I'm having not 1 but 2 boys.

I had a girl with my last IVF, and am presently pregnant with a boy with my second IVF.
I also heard that girls are more prominent with IVF.
Bottom line........it's out of our hands. Good luck!!! :D

Looking at this thread, one could conclude that parents of girls click on polls, and parents of boys post?
