I am trying to only count the number of cycles for the baby you are currently working on. I know some have other children via ivf but i didn't count those tries. I want to have a clear picture of how many tries it is taking for us older gals to be succesful.

Please correct me, tell me what you want me to add....... and update when appropriate. I have dropped some ladies off the roster because they have not checked in for a long time. If i dropped you off and you want to be added just post and i will put you back on. I am just trying to make this as easy for me as possible. I know its all about me

Renee,

Trying to conceive is stressful. I'm sure that trying to parent without your DH being there is very difficult. I cannot imagine my DH being away for an extended period of time. Waiting for the summer is not a bad idea, as you are still young :D At 44, I feel like it is either now or never for me.

I am using the ovulation predictors this cycle and will have marathon sex during my fertile period. If we do not get preggo, I will stop actively trying to conceive. If it happens, great. We will hopefully be able to adopt in 1 - 1.5 years if we do not get pregnant beforehand.

Hil: How are you doing? When is your beta? Thanks for the kind words on my DS. He is my little sweet pea.

Take care all,
Tammy

Hi ladies,
I haven't been on this board in a while. Dont know if you remember me. I did ivf in nov. I got a bfn the day before Thanksgiving. We only had one shot at IVF. We didn't have the money for another try. My first RE told me that I would never get pregnant without a donor egg and that I probably wouldn't even have a period any more. I have had seven since then. Glad I didn't listen to him. The second RE said with ivf using my own egg I only had 5-10 percent chance. I had two embies that were excellent grade . She said everything looked so great she bumped my percentage up to 85 percent. so imagine my sadness when the ivf failed. Well I got AF 4 days after bfn. so we just gave up. I came to peace with it and told God that it must be His will. so I actually felt relieved. Well my af was due Christmas eve. When it didn't come, I thought ok im going into menopause or something. or all the months of ivf drugs has me screwed up. I waited about 5 days and took a hpt just for the heck of it. I could not believe my eyes when it popped up positive before i even put the dropper in the trash. I was and still am in shock. I just wanted to tell you this just to say, that there is hope. It is unbelievable. Unbelievable. God must have a plan. Everything in His time. Take care to all of you.

Tammy,
I did the marathon sex thing for months. I did everything perfect!! No caffeine, sex on everyday that mattered. I followed the rules like a nut. And still no baby. Then as soon as I gave up, i ate chocolate, drank enough sweet tea to kill me and even had an alcoholic drink(which i dont do) got in the hot tub (big no no when ttc) and guess what? Thats when it happened. Crazy isn't it. I honestly think when people say we try to hard, its true. I was stressed and so worried about following the rules and it took my giving and boom here I am. Try it. I know its hard to do. People told me the same thing I only gave up when medically I was made to give up. I guess statistics can be wrong. Hang in there. Try to forget about it and relax. I hope the best for you.

Rhonda: When I got pregnant with Andrew, we had sex several times right around ovulation. It was 2 cycles after the failed IVF, so I wonder if there is an increased chance of getting pregnant naturally after a failed IVF. I'm hoping it will work for us this time. Don't worry about not having morning sickness. I never had it with Andrew. I've read that every pregnancy is different.

Hello to everyone else.

RHONDA THAT IS GREAT! I am so HAPPY for you! So do you know how many days you are, have you gone for a beta yet? Did you laugh in your RE's face yet (just kidding)! I definitely think if the right eggs comes up that cycle, it may do better without all that manipulation these little guys get during IVF!

Keep posting to let us know how it goes!

Ditto, or rather "Tri-to", Kelly how are the follicles? I hope they are sprouting and getting ready for harvest!!!!

Tammy and Kelly, thanks for asking about my 2WW. I am now on day 12 AND I got a NEGATIVE hpt. Figures. This time I actually felt pregnant--I realize now though my side effect were due to the extra progesterone that was produced from the multiple follicles producing eggs. (This does not happen in IVF because the eggs are surgically removed-thus the progesterone supplements.)

Anyway, I am bummed but I KNOW my body and our bank account can not tolerate anymore abuse--so we are going to try natural for the next month or two....(Hopefully, I will not go crazy and do something impulsive before my body has a chance to rest!!!)

I am sending everyone my best wishes!!!! I hope all your dreams come true in 2009!

Hilary
