Hi,
We had our transfer[2 embies] on Dec 14th (Day 5 Blastocycst). Our first test on Dec 23rd came back positive at 58, however subsequent blood tets shows my hcg is not really doubling but rising slowly. My RE still have me continue all medications.
Dec 23rd - 58
Dec 27th - 137
Dec 29th - 239
Next test scheduled on Jan 2nd. Please let us know if someone been in similar situation and had successful pregnancy? We are staying positive & hopeful and also like to hear from others about this situation.
I had a very slow rising beta (1st-157, 2nd-217, 3rd-257) in fact I was told I had miscarried. I went off my meds and waited to m/c again.
After a week nothing happened and my breats were still sore. They did another beta which was 850. They told me I probably had an ectopic and would need a D&C, but to come back in a week and they would do a repeat beta and sono.
The next beta was 5181 and the sono showed the embyro in the right place but a week behind where it should be. They told me the embryo wasn't viable since it was so small, but to come back in another week and they would do another sono.
So I came back a week later and my sono showed identical twins with excellent heartbeats! The dr theorized that one embryo implanted but I lost it. Meanwhile the other embryo spilt and then implanted late.
It was such a rollercoaster but I ended up with two beautiful boys. So never give up hope!
Baby 2009-
After seeing Laralou's amazing story, it proves to me that anything is possible. We just don't know what is happening in our bodies. We have only to rely on beta numbers to give us an indication, which I'm sure is so difficult for you right now. Hang in there. I am saying prayers for you. Good luck!

I basically had the slowest rising hcg possible (and what appeared to be a full blown period) with this pregnancy and I am 25 weeks today! My hcg only rose 70% every 72 hours for about 2 weeks. And at my first few ultrasounds I was measuring behind by about 5 - 6 days. I was convinced I was going to miscarry and just wanted the whole thing over with and now look where I am. My doctor thinks I probably had twins and lost one so that was why I had bleeding and also that might have contributed to my slow rising hcg.
Hi LauraLou,
Thanks for your inspiring story which couldn't have come at a better time, on New Year's Eve. Your story has given us hope and we are praying this journey will be a fruitful one. Wishing you and your beloved ones a very Happy New Year and blessed year ahead
Hello sharishu
Thanks for the very positive message. We were constantly checking our messages and hoping someone would reply. I'm really touched by people in this forum. I agree too everyone's body is different--- and will never give hope. Happy New Year.
Hello JamieP,
Thanks for sharing your wonderful and amazing story. Sometimes miracles do happen. Hearing all the positive words here today could not have been abetter start for my new year. Thank you so much again. Happy New Year.
We got 4th Hcg results today-- it increased to 605. But it's still not at the level the dr was expecting. I have an ultrasound scheduled next Tuesday. The nurse who called me today said they will be looking for embryo size and whether it's in the uterus during the ultrasound. I will be exactly 6 weeks from the retrival date next Tueday. I'm a litlle worried, from what I've been reading at this forum sometimes there is a possibility the embryo does not show that early. We are trying to be positve and hoping despite this little tumbles-- everything will be alright. p/s: It was really tough waiting for the call from the clinic- everytime the phone rang , I felt my heart skipped a beat.
Thank you very much for your thoughts and prayers.
This is exactly what happened to me. I was within normal but at the very low end. Hey someone has to be at the bottom! When I went for my first u/s (at 6 weeks 1 day) there was no heartbeat and it was measuring behind by about 5 days or so but it was developing normally - sack, fetal pole etc. A week later I went for another ultrasound and they saw a heartbeat and everything has been fine since then. So try to stay positive. When I was at the stage you are at now my doctor said it could go either way so lets hope everything is just a little slow for you too and all is going to be ok.
Good luck and let us know how the u/s goes. I am feeling positive for you! Honestly I went through the exact same thing. Be prepared to not get a definitive answer at your first u/s - you may have to wait another week.
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for your positive encouraging words again. These kinds of inspiring stories that gives us confidence to go through this tougher times. Hope!! Hope!! we really hope and pray things are going to be fine like you. We will keep you all posted. Have a great day.
Hi All,
We have partly good news because we saw the fetal pole and sac in the uterus which the doctor said is what he expected to see today . The doctor said the size of the fetus size is around 4mm which is smaller to see a heartbeat as were are only 5wks 6/7days today. He thinks we might be behind 3-4 days because implantation could have happened later than expected. We didn't have lot of expectations although we really want to see the little bean in the right place. Gladly God has blessed us with a initial happiness. We saw only one sac and don't know what happened to the other one . We would have had double joy if we saw both but seeing one has given us so much relief although we are not on cloud nine yet and we are taking it easy. We will stay positive until we go for the next U/S on 01/16 which we are hoping to see a heartbeat !! Has anybody had this situation? A big thanks to you all for sending your wishes and prayer our way. Hope to hear from you all.
Again my story exactly. At 6 weeks there was a sack and fetal pole measuring about 5 days behind. I went back at 7 weeks and there was a perfect heartbeat. I am excited for you that you saw a sack and fetal pole - it is a great sign. My Dr. was also concerned about seeing the baby in the right place as low hcg numbers can indicate an eptopic pregnancy. He said that it must have just implanted late and that would explain the low numbers.
So you are in the exact same situation I was in 20 weeks ago. I have my fingers crossed that you are just going to go along the same route as me - a little slow to get started but other than that fine. Good luck and keep us updated.
Baby 2009-on your next u/s you might be surprised to see 2 sacs (or even 3,like it was with me )We transfered 2,,on a first u/s they saw one for sure and a second one,but smaller. The 2d u/s was a total shock -there were 3 sacs with 3 h/b's.One embryo split into identical twins...
Bu t in my case nature took care of it and now we have 2 babies,we just don't know for sure if they are identical or not.
Good luck to you !

Hi Baby2009,
How are you doing? I think your next u/s is this Friday so not long to wait now although I know how the days drag by when you are waiting. I hope you are doing ok and managing to not think about it too much.
Hi Jamie,
We are doing fine. And holding on to the time, yes its Friday!!. We aren't thinking too much into it but sometimes the feelings show up now n then. Sometimes there is fear and worry thinking everything should go fine, on the otherhand at this point we have done what we can do and now its left to God to take care of the baby. Thanks for your kindness to inquire about us. We will keep you guys posted. Good Luck to you all.
