Suga~ I would seriously try the prunes. I know it seems very early and I think it is too but it takes so little prunes to do the job and believe me, IT WORKS! It's the only thing that worked for us and I haven't had a day of constipation since. For the hastle of the transition over to the formul and then back to milk I would at least try it a day or two before going that route. Just my thoughts but go with your gut instinct. Like my Ped. says "No one knows your baby better than you!" Good luck!

I thought it was early as well. I mean I will try it because I feel horrible for her! How long does baby food keep in the fridge if you do not spoon it out of the jar? I will be doing organic.

He said to start rice and oats too....I dunno if I want to though...I mean it is still early for their digestive tracts but then I think about it and they have been on rice forever in their bottles. So I will try it and see if they will eat from a spoon. They just started to watch us eat so who knows if they are ready!

Suga~ I only keep it for the rest of the day. I'm wierd about food and don't really like left over anything even for myself. Plus, the 1st stage jars are really small and I'd give her about half. If that doesn't work within the first 1-2 hours I'd dose her up the rest. It's not much really. My kids were VERY messy at first so hopefully your girls are naturally more tidy! :D Let us know how it goes.

Oh they were messy all right! But I do not know if they are ready yet...Brooke just spits it out with her tongue mostly I do not even know if she swallowed anything! Mackenzie is a little more ready but not by much. She actually swallowed just a small little bit. So who knows. I will try again tomorrow with prunes (which their faces were priceless!) and if it is a no go again I will try in a few weeks and just get some Gripe Juice from Best Beginnings.

I did some oatmeal as well. They tolerated that a little better taste wise. I will just do prunes tomorrow.

Hopefully once they get good on solids they will sleep through the night!!!

Hi Ladies. I have been reading some of your post and would love to join in here. I have b/g twins born in April 08. They just turned 9 months. Long, tough pregnacy after being put on strict bedrest at 16 weeks. I made it to 34 and the babies had lung complications and spent about a month in the NICU. They are great now.......they do have bad reflux and are below normal weights, but they are gaining slowly. I love having twins and couldn't imagine my life without them. Not sure about more kids though. I would love to have 1 more, but dh is not so sure. And since we had to do IUI to get them, I am not sure the chance of having just one.

Jade1: Welcome! Congrats on your twins as well! I feel you on the bed rest! I was put on it at 20 weeks and they were born 30 plus 6. Mine we in the NICU for 6 and 7 weeks. Kenzie (in for 7 weeks) had more lung issues and bracacardias. Mine have reflux as well. I thought it was supposed to get better once you start solids?! Is that not the case? I have been waiting for solids for them to start getting better lol. How much do yours weight? Mine are 14 lbs and 13 lbs 4 oz. and they are 5 months (3 adjusted). Again, welcome!!!

Welcome Jade1! We look forward to hearing more from you...

Suga--could you try prune juice? That seems to make more sense to me--at least until the girls get the hang of eating solids. I know it took mine a couple of weeks to "get it"....

Jade~ Welcome! We are always excited to have twin mommies here! Our babies were both born at 34 weeks. I'm curious as well to know what yours weigh because mine are also pretty small. Annelise is catching up pretty quick now but Bodie is still pretty far behind. Today at a play place he was standing next to an eight month old who was the same size! Also, you never know what will happen as far as baby #3 goes! Here I am pg naturally and we were rather surprised!

Suga~ I'm with Kim, how about prune juice? I have heard mixed reviews on gripe water. Not really if it works or not but if it should even be given to babies and I hear you need to be careful where it originates from? Not that there's not enought to worry about already! Sorry!!! :? My organic grocer here is like a pharmacist with way too much info sometimes! You have to wonder those first few feedings if any food gets in at all huh? Take a picture for sure! I hope lots of poohs are in your near future!

Thanks ladies, for all the welcomes. Mine just turned 9 months and my little girl weighs 14 lbs and little boy weighs 17. He is closer to being on track but she had more complications in the beginning. Reflux has not gotten much better since solids for me. They don't fight the bottle as much and they seem to really enjoy the solids, but they still throw up ALL the time. And now it is stinky throw up. As for the constipation, my ped recommended karo syrup in their bottles and I have to still do that occasionally. I put a teaspoon or so in their bottles and it really does the trick. We were told to wait until 6 months to start the solids but I have friends that started way sooner. And when I started solids my ped said peaches, pears, and prunes were all good for constipation, but it didnt really help mine.

Jade: Sadly we put Kayro in EVERY bottle of Brookes and it does nothing. That is why I think something else is going on but the pedi just does not listen to me!!! Wow sounds like your reflux is worse than mine. Mine spew just occasionally now. I went to the chiropractor and it was a charm! Only one spew since then and it has been 2 weeks!!

Do you think it is Kenzie reflux acting up and that is why she does not want to eat? She does push the bottle away and bite down on the nipple then cry when I try to force it...hmmmm....I mean she is on Zantac and Prevacid.

It was a no go with the food. They just spit it out! They still have the tongue thrust reflex. But I did get cute pictures!! I will post them on my blog.

What about Gripe Water?!?! Where it comes from?! Sheesh! I will look at the back of the bottle and talk to the lady that works there...I do not want to put something unknown into my baby! lol. Thanks for the heads up!

Hi ladies! I found out last week that I'm expecting twins. Today we saw both of their heartbeats. Me and DH are so happy, we feel like we are in a dream! I am 6 weeks so far and already feeling nauseous when I think about food yet I am always hungry and thirsty. I can't seem to drink enough water. Certain smells are bothering me and my stomach feels upset all the time. And I swear I'm already showing. I was in good shape before so I'm surprised how much of a belly I have already and I'm trying to eat really healthy! However, as rotton as I feel I am loving every minute of it!!!! I was wondering if anyone else had symptoms this early. Most of the posts I read it seems most woman didnt have any this early on. I know everybody is different so I hope I can take it as a good sign! I would love to hear about your experiences early on and when you started showing, etc.

Suga, It may very well be her reflux. We went through a phase of that and we had to up the meds. She maybe has grown out of the dosage and needs an increase. How many ounces of milk is she eating a day?

Hi moms! I would love to join your twin group! I have followed this message board since getting pregnant with twins, but never had much to offer since I was on bedrest for a good majority of pregnancy. Who wants to hear all of that complaining!

My boys were born at 37 plus 5, were healthy weights...and were able to come home with me three days later. I feel very fortunate hearing stories about some of your premies.

Now, I am just in the totally sleep deprived stage. I have followed Babywise, after reading about it from moms here. They are on a three hour schedule. One question, when did you start implementing waketime. Mine are 9 days old, having difficulty sleeping at night...and I am just wondering if I start waketime this early will it help??

Thanks to all of you ladies for your comments,, kholtan, suga, buckeygal, tolbee...you have been so helpful to me (without even knowing it :-) )!!

I do have a blog, if you would like to see pics of Paxton and Kellen!

Wow---3 new mommies in like 24 hours! Welcome and congrats girls!

Courtney---I know I didn't start Babywise right away. I don't think I even had time to start reading it until they were almost a month old...at the least! Your kiddos are still newborn (and just under full term by now, right?). I don't think I would try anything before they are full term. JMO. Kind of ease yourself into it. You ARE going to be sleep deprived early on. I'm sorry. It just goes with the territory. Let the kiddos sleep when they need to right now. Maybe try the schedule in a couple of weeks? good luck!

Annie--I was an early nausea girl. I felt great the first two weeks I knew I was preggo, and then around week 6 or 7, it hit me. I never actually got sick, but I was queazy nearly all day. Go get yourself some mints. They helped me a ton. Plus, ginger is supposed to help. Gingerale, ginger snaps, etc. Also, I wore the motion sickness bands on my wrist. I think they helped a bit. I hope it gets better for you soon. Mine last until about 16 weeks...but I think I just got used to it after a while!

Yay for new people! Welcome to all!!!

Courtney: I did BabyWise from the get-go but it did not always work lol. Mine slept all the time as they were preemies and we had a rough start at night as well in the beginning. I think they would want to stay awake after their 1AM feed which was horrible...or no, they stayed awake until 1AM. Yeah it was rough. It gets better though. I would say start with just one awake time....maybe when they first wake up in the morning make them stay awake for 15 minutes after the feed. Really, at this age it is hard. I just tried keeping them awake 10-15 minutes after they ate at first. Then it got longer as they got older. It did take awhile though. Every baby is different and you just have to do what works for you and the babes. And the sleep does get better....not great for me yet cause mine are still waking up at 3AM...

Annie: I was a no symptom girl minus headaches. I think I threw up twice and that was because I ate too much lol and the babies did not like it. Good luck though!!

Jade: I read up on it more. I believe it is her reflux! Thanks for pointing that out to me! I thought she was just busy talking...gosh....being a mom is hard at times to figure out what is going on! Right now she is taking like 20 oz at the most. She eats 2 oz at a feed then gets mad and stops eating and pushes the bottle away. I am going to put all the meds in a different bottle with just one oz and see if that helps. She used to eat 4-5 oz each feed...so something is going on.

I hate how doctors do not listen to you. They just do not seem to care as long as they are gaining weight. I can not WAIT until we get on husbands insurance so I can take them to my family doctor whom I love.
