unicornate uterus?

Post by lukesmom »

A really close friend of mine was recently diagnosed with a unicornate uterus. This is where only half of her uterus developed when she was developing in her mother's womb. Does anyone have this or know someone that has? Any success stories? This something very rare and a limited amount of information is available. She is so discouraged. I am looking for any information that may lift her spirits. Thanks ladies.

I work with a girl who has this - at least I think its the same thing. She said she was born with only half a uterus and only one ovary and tube. The other half of her reproductive system never formed. She got pg on her own but it was ectopic and she lost her 1 tube. Her and her husband did IVF about 3 years ago - they did just a single embryo transfer and were successful. They have a little girl now!

Thanks for your reply. Yeah that is the same thing. She was told that she would be able to get pregnant though it would take her longer. But she is down in the dumps right now.
