Paula, welcome! There's a couple of us qld-ers on here so you are in good company. In regards to your question about how many to put back, I was of the understanding that you can only transfer two by law. I could be wrong, but thats what I thought.

We opted for two and ended up with twins. They are great but hard work and now that I have 3 under 16 months, I can imagine how hard triplets or more would be. Also I had pre-eclampsia with my twins and was very ill throughout it. It is such a strain on your body to carry twins and even worse with more. Mine were premmie (only 5 weeks) which is good for twins, but leaving them in hospital while I went home was heartbreaking. The more babies you carry, the earlier they will be born and the sicker they will be.

I know I sound all doom and gloom - don't get me wrong, I love being a twin Mummy - but I just think that you need to consider all the consequences of putting more than two back in. Ask yourself if you will be able to cope with triplets or more. Do you have help if you do end up with more taking. Would you consider selective reduction? All things that have to be considered.

People asked me if I would be ready for twins when we opted for two embryo's and falling pregnant was so out of reach for me that I dismissed everyone's questions. Now that I have them, I can understand what everyone was talking about. They are hard work but definately worth it.

Having said all that - I hope that you decide on what is right for you and if you do opt for two I hope you end up with beautiful twins like mine.

Thanks for yr advice, i thought it was the law, but this lady was pretty sure that is wasnt, i dont have any childern as it is, so i am praying that I get one healthy child and if 2 comes along then so be it .. My doc said that if the first one does not work, then he wil put 2 in if they thaw ok..
just wondering if anyone goes to DR paul stokes in cotton tree ?

Hi Emma, my sis's twins are 2 in less than a month and the little boy is almost 4 months old so I can exactly understand what you mean by 'hard work'. And it is very sweet of you to pop into the thread to chat with us when you can in your very busy life - thanks buddy xxx.

Paula, welcome to the thread! looks like you and I will be a cycle buddies in couple of months time? yay. I am so sorry to hear about your first pregnancy. I am glad you are trying again and you have 5 happy embies on ice. I also had unsuccesful xfer at start of Dec (3rd attempt) and now trying hard to recondition my body for next cycle. (I have crap iron level). Hey, I have a Q for you, have you found out why your clinic wants to thaw all 5 embies at one time? For my last xfer we chose to only xfer back 1 embie (we had 2 on ice) so they thawed only 1 to start off with, the nurse did say shoud that thaw fail - then they will go and thaw the other one straight away.... Luckily that thaw worked so I had one embie xfered back in... and although that was BFN I still now have one more left for chance of FET again... if I had let them thaw both of them all at once that means, potentially, I would have lost both of them... So I just wondered why would they want to thaw all 5 (unless they aready suspect your embies will not survive the thaw process) when you only want 2 back in? with regards to 'how many' to xfer back in, 1 or 2, it sould only be you and your DH's decision. It is your body, your baby and your future . Good luck buddy, you have already made massive successful jump in your life, UK to OZ. I am sure you will also be succesful on this journey as well.

PPS. Sydney buddies out there, I am thinking of approaching SIVF for my next fresh cycle...... but I am thinking about approaching IVF Australia also. Any ideas? I do need a doc who is an expert in severe endo case..... Any ideas/comments much appreciated. Cheers,

Tiger :> I dont think i will be having all 5 embies thawed, I was just adviced to do so. However, my thoughts have been confirmed that it is not legal in this country to put back more than 2. The lady who told me to have all 5 done is on another site but situated in the States which over their is legal to put in as many as u want...
So I think it will be 2 this time, well thats what my Dr said anyhow..
I'm sorry to hear about yr trying cycles, its so hard, and i dont know about u, but it seems to get harder every time is fails... very sad !!

However I'm so glad I have found these sites, they really help, and thanks for being a cycle buddie, lolol its realy cute xx
I live in Queensland on the Sunshine coast, Cotton Tree is a small suburb within, Dr Stokes is meant to be the best on the coast, fingers crossed xx

PPT welcome its great to have you along so you can cycle with tiger hope you both get the BFP's you deserve. Cotton tree is near Landsborough is that right if so i'm not to far from you i haven't heard of your doctor either but the way i look at it you have to start with someone and see how you go and hopefully things work out for the best and you get the results were all looking for.

as for me Katie is still giving me drama and i'm getting so confused as to what her problem is reflux colic digestion problems bowels or what and to make it worse its hard to find a doctor who knows what he's talking about regarding babies and just as hard to get an appointment with a child health nurse that isn't weeks away which is exactly whats been happening so i'm now trying not to let her get dehydrated from not drinking and waiting for her appointment to come up. anyway best go got to try a feed her again she only wants to dring approx 50 mls when she should be on 200 per feed

I guess Landsborough is about 20 min to half hr away from cotton tree , so no, its not too far away. and yes we will stick with this one as we have already been through 2 iui's and this ivf with him, so we kind of hold some history with them.
I have another few wks b4 i start my next lot of treatment so just starting to get my head around it again..

Thanks Tiger and Jomae. Yea he was a big boy and I felt every oz of him!!!!
I didn't have a boys name but my ds wanted to call him Cruz so he won. He's a great baby and feel so blessed to have him. I have been feeling a bit emotional lately I guess its the old baby blues kicking in. Dh is flying back to work soon and I am feeling a bit overwhemed being on my own with a newborn. Its so long since I've had a baby it feels like my first one!!

I'm sorry to hear about Katie. My ds had colic for three months and it was so hard seeing him so upset all the time. What about going to a child paediatrition? It is a bit expensive but you can claim some back through medicare. How old is she now?

congrats again on Cruz glad to see he's doing well are you manageing to feed him. yep blues are common as long as it doesn't go on to long. your right about it feeling like your first especially with the gap between your boys hows your eldest going with his new little brother.

As for Katie we finally may have answers i took her to the doctors again and she seems to think she's lactose intolerant and thats what has been causing all her pain and not wanting to drink I have an appointment with a pediatrician to double check it is that but thats not till the 19th of feb. I have change her over to a lactose free formula though and she's 90% better i just have to get her use to drinking bigger quantities now and since chngeing her shes even started sleeping through i new she would though because she slept through the night before all of this started so i new she was ready anyway hopefully things will now settle down with her and she can go back to the happy bub she was

Thats good that you finally got some answers!! Theres nothing worse than seeing you bub upset. Lactose intolerant gee who would have guess that one!!! Hopefully she will return to a happy content bub soon.

My ds is a great big brother but is a bit jelous so I'm trying to spend a bit of one on one time with him each day. Cruz had a upset tummy last night and I only got a couple of hours sleep. Boy is it a shock to the system having a newborn!! Em I take my hat off to you having twins!!!!

I have a little news here, I am going back to school - well TAFE to be precise from Feb 9, full-time!! It's been like 10 plus years since I graduated from Uni so I am little nervous. I am assuming that I will be the oldest in the class, by like 20 years? So I am not sure what I will do about my next FET, life will take me where it will take me.

Good on you for going back to study. I don't really think age is an issue anymore when it comes to studying. When I did my degree we had ladies in there 50's and even a lady in her 60's!! Yep I've had Cruz home for a couple of weeks now. He is a really good bub but does have his days when sleep is not on his agenda!! I forgot how time consuming little babies are!!
Anyway do you plan on doing another cycle any time soon?

Hello Chickies, I am still HOT... had a swim at Olympic Swimming Pool by Harbour Bridge yesterday arvo. They have sea water (well it was salty ....) in the outside pool - how cool is that?!

Bella darling, how are you? I cannot believe little Lucy is already 2 years old, wow. Sounds like there was huge change for you in last 3 years too - as I have with mine . Yes, I finally made it back to OZ - Melb in middle of '07 and I moved to Sydney March last year. I still miss my family and friends from home but at least I can now fly back home in like 1.5 hours!! Are you thinking of little sis or bro for Lucy? will you be going back to IVF again?

Kery, thanks for your encouragement, I need it! I will get my student ID next week - very exciting. Glad to hear Cruz is doing so well at home xxx. With re my next cycle... I have no idea. It depends on my studies I guess, if it's not too heavy then I might consider it sooner than later but it could just force me to go back on full time pill - to stop my AF. Endo pain is getting excruciating again lately and last couple of AFs I ended up vomitting and curling up in a sad little ball - the pain was so bad. So I will have to see .

I am hearing you about the heat - yesterday I think the nail polish melted off my toes. It was so HOT!

Lucy turned 2 last month, and I honestly cannot remember life without her. I remember a friend of mine, who unfortunately had suffered a number of miscarriages before she was finally successful in having a baby, told me, "It seems like it took us all those go's to make our perfect baby". It sounds weird, but I really can't imagine any other form of Lucy being as perfect as Lucy. All of those BFN's were (painful) steps towards making our Lucy. Hah, and what a crazy little girl she is!!!

I actually had a FET last week from my cycle with Lucy. It was the only other embryo from the cycle. We test on the 3rd of Feb. I would love a bro or sis for Lulu - we'll see! I am actually really emotional about it, and am VERY snappy. Taking it out on my husband a lot, but I can't help it. I don't know why I am do emotionally precarious.

Tiger - your pain sounds awful. How are you treating/managing it right now? What are you going to study? I finished study last year - I did a Master of Teaching degree to change careers some time soon. It was fun - I made friends with a bunch of sweet 22 year olds!! And, for the first time in years, my periods came regularly at the same time as theirs!! It still didn't result in a pregnancy but it was strange to feel young and fertile!!!
