Cost of IVF treatment

Post by jane »

I have just had my first cycle of ivf (currently on the dreaded 2ww) at Bournemouth/Dorchester Winterborne Clinic. It has cost so much money.
£2370.00 ivf
£660.00 scan and blood tests prior to ec
£500.00 drugs. This totals to over £3500.00

Can others let me know how much their treatment has cost.
Would certianly be interested to know Southamptons costs (SJBRown - r u there???)

Thank you.
I am hoping of course that I will not need another treatment but would like to know if this clinic charges over the odds or not.

Hi Jane,

Ill try and get a price list next week when I have my appt...hopefully you wont need it!!!!

WHen we did our treatment it cost £5000!!!! but we had to have ICSI which is an extra £900, our drugs came to over £1000 so sounds like you have not been ripped off.......

Im curious as to how much a full cycle would cost us at the new clinic....
AT the Chalybeate in SOuthampton a frozen GEEP cycle cost £1050 which was for everything............but at the new clinic(Wessex Fertility) it is £653 plus you get the drugs direct via the drugs company....The drugs company phoned earlier this week and they came to £105 so whole frozen cycle is costing us £658(saving £392)

It looks like the new clinic could save us some money!!

Try and stay relaxed and good luck

Hi Sophie-Jane,

I am at Guys in London and I have paid £1,700 for IVF (includes all blood tests and scans) and £940 for drugs.

I think NHS hospitals that also offer private treatment tend to be cheaper because they are non-profit making. But I think that the cost of your treatment sounds about average.

Fingers crossed it will work out for you and you won't have to worry about the cost of treatment in the future!!!

GOOD LUCK

Hi Jane,
It's intresting to see who much other places charge. We're from portsmouth most of our treatment is done at st marys hospital, but for EC & ET we had to go to the London Gynaecology & Fertility Centre, Harley Street. our costs were.
local fees encluding scans. £1275.00
London Fertility centre. £1400.00
Prescription. £588.00
Blood tests for both £154.00
{HIV/HEPB/Chromosomal test.}
TOTAL £3417.00
Hope this was of some help.
love Becky & craig. xx

Hi There,

Our tmt cost £3000 including drugs which I guess isn't so bad compared to what some people have to pay. We was so lucky that IVF worked for us first time because can't even imagine having to pay out again for a 2nd try its just so expensive.

Love
Shell.

Hi, I know there's no one else out there currently having tmt in Norway but I thought I'd post anyway. The head of my clinic (Medicus in Trondheim) said he was recently approached by a British couple who had heard of him...so who knows?

IVF tmt (inc. all consultations, scans, blood tests etc) cost us just under 3,000 pounds (in 2002) and the drugs were another 1,700 BUT we got 200 back as the Govt. now refunds fertility drug costs over 1,500 in any 3 year period.

Our natural FET was 580 all-in.

Our assisted FET was 420 incl. scans, tests etc. Drugs are another c. 150 but will be reimbursed by the Govt. again as we're within 3 yrs of our first tmt.

I just paid $13,000.00 for my daughter to have IVFw/ICSI. That was for one treatment and it was BFN. She won't be able to try again until better insurance kicks in. :(

Hi

Luckily I'm on my nhs goes, you get 3 in Scotland, I've used 2 so I have 1 frozen left but we paid £1800 for our first ivf cycle and then £450 for fet, my GP prescribed the drugs.

I'm at the Royal Infirmary/Simpsons in Edinburgh, up here there doesn't seem to be private clinics, so you use the same hospital and get the same treatment no matter if you are paying or not. The staff and the doctors there are fab.

I find it absolutely terrible that the costs can differ by £1000.00. It really is a money making business to these private clinics. I bet they are really pleased that the English Gov are only going to give one go one the nhs (which in effect is only half treating someone as we all know that the odds are that it doesn't often happen the first time round), because this means they will still be able to take money from the people who are so desperate to have a child that they go into debt to line the pockets of the consultants.
I think I am having a rant.
