Kelly --

That is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! The most I have got was 3 grade ones in my best round! I bet you are just like me and make not so many embryos, but the ones you make are high grade! Man, wish you could put em back now! Sigh, guess we must be patient!

It gets even better. I got my GES results.

The GES scores are as follows:

8 cell, grade 2: GES 45

8 cell, grade 2: GES 95

8 cell, grade 1: GES 80 (all three embryos in this grade)

The first one sucks but the others are good-great. I have been taking DHEA for several months. I think that is what did it.

Hey Kelly,

Did you do IVF before??? I am wondering if you think the DHEA worked cause you have better embryos than before ( I thought this was your first round)?

I just want to say that if not, don't doubt your embryo quality without DHEA, it might have rocked! Us old ladies can surprise those doctors.

I am curious though if you went from previous bad quality to good quality cause that would be an awesome example of the DHEA working that I could share with others!

Lynnie, you are correct, this is my first cycle. So i have no way to know for sure if it was the DHEA. However, i did talk to the embryologist since my last post. He said that my embryos were great. He said it was a treat to do the biopsy on them because they were in such great shape it made the job very easy. He was very surprised that they came from a 42.5 year old. Yesterday was day 4 and they were still looking great. He expects them all to survive to blast for freezing. That usually doesn't happen for young ladies. We will just have to wait for the CGH results and see what happens on my other cycles to see if it was a fluke. Also, my nurse coordinator was very surprised by the eggs/embryos. She has been doing this for a long time. She also made the comment that my results were better than most younger women.

So how are all you pregnant ladies feeling? Any bad morning sickness, very tired, can't poop (hehehe) etc?

Hi Tammy. I will not do a FET for several months as i am dong 2 more banking cycles first. Since i am doing CGH i will only transfer 1 at a time if i have any normals to work with. Since they will be "competant" they would have a very high probability of success. Also, i do not want twins and i want to spread out the risk of failure. In case my body does something funky causing me to m/c. I don't want all of my eggs in one basket.

My clinic takes all embryos that will be frozen to day 6 before freezing. That is today. So i should get the news today about how many made it. I have my fingers all made it but if some died that just meant they were not competent and would not make a baby anyway.

Thank you everybody for you well wishes and support.

Does anybody have any for the next update. I will do it later today.
I hope everybody is doing well.

HUGS, Kelly

This is what i had.

1 X 8 cell, grade 2: GES 45

1 x 8 cell, grade 2: GES 95

3 x 8 cell, grade 1: GES 80 (all three embryos in this grade)

Only 2 will be frozen. One is the grade 2 with the high GES (i think). It has been upgraded to a grade 1. The other is one of the grade 1 embryos. It has been downgraded to a grade 2. The others are not looking good enough. They are all now grade 3.

Hello, all!
I have been off the boards for a while becasue I was sick—both physcilaly and mentally. Anyway, I am feeling physically much better and am so excited by all the wonderful news.

What great news everyone is having! Tammy it is your turn next. ☺
Lynnie, so sorry you had to have such a huge scare, but I am so happy everything is fine!!!!!!!! Sounds like your little bean is just stretching things out a little…

And, congrats Renee and Kelly!!!!! Renee it is SO inspiring that you got pregnant naturally and Kelly, WOW!!!!! That is awesome!!! I am wondering if I should start DHEA right away!!!!!!

Anyway, I am on CD9 of a natural cycle….I have a phone appointment with CCRM on the 22nd. I want to see if the fact that I had 4 grade 1 embryos during my last IVF cycle (but got only a chemical pregnancy) would change the protocol he advised or affect my chances…. I am also going to ask about DHEA. Although Kelly I bet you just have great eggs!!!!!! Who-hoooooo!

Happy Friday to everyone!

Kelly, they are discarding 3 of them? How do they know for sure that are bad, grading is not always right. But maybe I misunderstood. Why would it hurt to freeze them anyway?

Still, my doctor said women our age typically have 1-2 normals per 5 embyos. Thus freezing two is right on track. I bet they are both good!
