I have been reading this thread for quite sometime now. You guys are all marvelous.
Here is my story. I have got one ectopic pregnancy & one chemical pregnancy so far. After that we did two fresh IVF cycles but no luck. Now i am taking lupron for the past 18 days before my FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) which has been scheduled sometime end of January. Here is the situation. My period was delayed by more than a week so today our doctor performed a blood test. Surprise i am pregnant. Although it is a happy news i am kind of worried about any possible interference of Lupron injection. Because i have got pregnant while i was taking Lupron.
Did anybody got pregnant while taking the Lupron?
Could it interfere the pregnancy by any means?
Our doctor asked us to stop taking the injection right away and asked us to come and visit him tomorrow for another Ultra Sound. We are going to check out his opinion at that time. But my mind is bothering me a lot.
One of my best friends did the same thing. She was starting her first IVF cycle but found out she was pregnant while doing Lupron injections. She had only taken a few days of shots. Her daughter Ava is now 3 and fine. Good luck to you!

Hi, I was concerned about the same thing so I looked it up and Lupron can cause birth defects.
I am sure the Dr will tell you more tomorrow so I ask you to please post once you hear, I am currently on Lupron for 15 days and on day 38 of my cycle so it's on my mind as well.
Good luck!

I googled an answer for you and read the same thing the sisi wrote. It can increase the chance of birth deacts slightly. However, it also said that every baby conceived has a 3-5% chance of a birth defect natural. I wouldn't be to concerned because it said there is only a slight increase in birth defects if you take Lupron and get pregnant. Good luck to you. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
My RE must be more strict than all of yours I was told NO sex after I start a cycle until my first ultrasound after pregnancy or a BFN.
With just a slight increase, you are most likely fine. Of course you will want to monitor the pregnancy carefully since there is a slight increase. Let us know what the doctor says and CONGRATULATIONS!

I looked it up and its a category x drug. I would absolutely talk to your doctor and make sure they give you all the information on the risks. It cautions you to use birth control while on this medication. I guess they did not have you doing suppression with BCPS at the same time?
The doctor should have told you to use back up methods of contraception, sigh....
Things will probably be ok as you are JUST pg and since you immediately stopped the meds, you were no longer increasing your risks.
It stinks that you have to worry now, but make sure you get every little bitty detail from your dr till you mind is at ease! I hope the news is good!

I would think the lupron would thin out your lining. Though so does BCP's and lots of women have gotten PG while taking BCP's and have a normal pgThey might just want to monitor you more. Congrats on your BFP. Keep us posted with what your DR says.

Thanks SiSi1, AmamdaM, lynniecat & to_have_fun08 for all your kind words and support.
We have visited the doctor today. He did not want to give us more negative thoughts about Lupron. He is saying you were taking very little and that too at a early stage so it should not impact the baby but he also said we have to wait and see while the pregnancy progress.
But they did UltraSound to find where the baby is. It is in Uterous. Hurray! We were scared about the outcome of UltraSound as i had an ectopic in the past. Anyways so far so good. Even today's beta reading was good. Doc asked us to visit him a week after for an other ultrasound and blood test, which will be next Wednesday. So we are just hoping that things will go well this time.
Please pray God for us to have a healthy baby. Myself and my hubby adore kids when ever and where ever we see them.
Also please let us know if you come across any article / news about 'pregnancy while on Lupron'
That is great news! How far are you and what was your beta? I was thinking about it last night and assuming you are just 2-3 weeks past conception, I personally can not imagine the meds doing that much if anything. While the embyro is floating along and not even attached yet (first 5 - 12 days) its not even exchanging materials with you...I am not 100 percent positive, but I am pretty sure there is no way for the lupron to even touch the embyro before its fully implanted. And even once its implanted, I am not sure at what point the med could even cross over. So at this early stage I bet there is VERY little risk!
Good Luck!

Thanks for your response. I never thought in this way. That is what even our doctor mentioned. It is a very early stage and may not do harms although he cannot or does not want to tell us for sure. Let me hope for the best.
I am 3 days past five weeks now and my beta is 4200 something as of today. Our next doctor visit would only on next Wednesday which means we have to wait for a long one week before an other Ultra sound & blood test.
I would call the manufacturers customer line and say I took the lupron on days say 1 through 10 after conception and ask if they have any data.
That is what I would do being very anal, but I would also not worry very much.
Its wonderful you got pg naturally!

I am so glad to hear your news. I agree, that it is really a low dose and that everything should be fine. on 12/30 I had to go to the ER for a racing heart rate that would not go down. It was 169 laying down. It was called SVT(supraventicular tachycardia). The doctor there said it can happen to anyone and they see 16 year olds come in with it. They had to give me a medicine to "reboot my heart." I was very upset about that since I was 20.5 along and it would definitely cross the placenta line. Everything was fine and I have had a ultrasound and seen the OB since then. So if I can have that without hurting the babies, I doubt that such a tiny little dose of Lupron for a few days would do anything.
Sweetie, I am sure you will be fine...a few years ago I was on Lupron for IVF not knowing I was pregnant from a previous Clomid cycle. RE told me not to worry it would not affect the pregnancy. Unfortunately there was a chromosomal abnormality (trisomy) which caused me to miscarry at 10 wks. This was in NO WAY caused by the Lupron....it was just bad luck. I spoke with a genetic counselor who confirmed that fact.
Good luck with your pregnancy...have a happy and healthy nine months and please do keep us updated!
P.S. I am back on Lupron ironically ... but this time definitely NOT pregnant...doing IVF and praying for a good outcome!
Guys sorry for the late reply as i was kind of busy for past few days with my work. Actually i am trying to focus more on work and other things so that i would not have much time to think bad.
lynniecat, as per the pregnancy calculator i must have conceved on 12/21. I was taking Lupron since 12/27 until 1/13 for about 18 days. So it looks like i was taking Lupron for about 10 days after the embryo attached assuming it takes about 5-12 days to get it attached to the uterous. But as per my doc 1 ml hopefully should not impact the baby. So i am just going to keep my finger crossed.
AmandaM, thanks for sharing your experience. It was very sad when i was reading about what happened to you.
kristinpa, do you remember for how many days you were taking Lupron without knowing that you were pregnant? I was taking for about 18 days. I am sorry to hear that you had a miscarry at 10 weeks on your previous pregnancy. Good Luck to you on your current cycle and i am sure things will workout well for you this time.
My next ultrasound and a blood test would be on Wednesday. Doctor said we should be able to hear the heart beat. Guys pray God for me to hear a good news on Wednesday. I will update you all after returning from Dr office.
