Hey ladies. I was wondering if I could get your advice on an issue that I'm kind of on the fence about.
I'm currently 7 months pregnant with fraternal twin boys and I was wondering what you ladies thought about sleeping arrangements for multiples.
I've heard so many things that contradict eachother about whether or not they should share 1 crib or sleep in 2 different cribs.
To start out the boys will be in 2 cradles by my bed side until they out grow them, about 3 or 4 months everyones telling me. But then I don't see the big deal about them sharing 1 crib until they're old enough to get toddler beds of their own.
I've heard that twins like to be near eachother after sharing a womb for 9 months and that the closness soothes them.
The only thing that worries me is that I heard somewhere a long time ago that babies that share a cribs have a higher occurance of SIDS. Any one know if that's true?
My family think I'm nuts and that it's low lifey to have them both in 1 crib, but I se all these baby shows on TV that have twins sharing. I don't have a nursery for them and my master bed room is big, but we'll definately be tight in there with 2 cribs.
Any feed back from you ladies would be appreciated, thanks so much.
Well with my twin girls they were in the NICU for 6 and 7 weeks so they were in separate beds. When we got home I kept it that way. PLUS I learned that my girls move a lot in their sleep and do 360s! SO they are in seperate cribs but they are not very far from one another. When I do put them close to one another now they just kick and hit each other lol. Plus the whole SIDS thing scared me. A lot of people keep them together though until they can roll over.
My babies were in the same bed int he NICU for 16 days but after we got home they napped together but slept seperate at night and by 3 months were seperate all the time. We all slept better!!! Mine are still in the same room but NEVER together!

Mine were also in the NICU in seperate beds. And stayed that way when they came hom. They napped together in a pack n play during the day and separate cribs at night. They move alot in their sleep. And mine woke each other up from time to time even though all the books said they wouldn't.........they did. I think separate cribs is the way to go..... Good luck.
Hi ladies,
I'm not sure what we are going to do. They are going to share a large bassinet in our room for the first month or so. I think after that we are going to put them in their room. We have two cribs, but I haven't decided yet if we are going to put them in one crib for awhile or put them right away in their own separate cribs. Decisions, decisions.....It will be interesting what the others have to say about this.

It sounds like a lot of your twins had to go to the NICU. How early were they born? I am expecting twins and premature birth is a concern for me, especially being on the short side I am a little worried there won't be enough room for them when they get bigger.
My twins were born at exactly 34 weeks after a 2 week hospital bedrest stay. Fun! They were just feeders and growers though. Other than that they were very healthy.
I think you will only find out what you will do once they are born. I really wanted to co-bed them as long as I could just because it is so sweet but ione just didn't sleep well together at all and I only let them nap together after the first month or so. When they slept better I quickly got over my cute picture of two babies in one crib!
