Do you lie on your back?

Post by prayinggg »

Hi girls,

I am having an ET on Friday! This is my first time. I read somewhere that in order to increase chances of pregnancy you need to lie on your back for at least 5 days. I tried to do that for a day to see. I was ok throughout the day, but by the nighttime I was in agony! I asked my doctor, he said it was not proved clinically. But I am just wondering what everyone else did? I mean if it is true, maybe it is worse the pain. What do you think?

I would follow whatever your clinic's advice regarding bedrest is. 5 days sounds excessive to me.

My clinic did not order bedrest beyond the day of ET.

Good luck!

After ET I was told to lay on my back for a 1/2 hour at the office then released to go home and relax the rest of the day. I was not told to stay on my back at all once I left. After we had dinner I sat on the couch with my feet up the rest of the day and then went back to work the next day.

Good Luck with your ET on Friday. At my last ET, they had me still with my legs up no talking or movement for about 30 mintues... then they sent me home and told me to stay in bed for the rest of the day on my back, but the next day I could resume regular activities. I had ET on a Sunday, went home and stayed in bed for the rest of the day only got up to use Bathroom. Layed in couch all day MONday, Tuesday, Wednesday, By thursday I was up but just for minimal activites all weekend. Back at work on Monday. Well, even after all that I still got a BFN. SO I dont think it is nessecary. Next time I will just Stay in Bed the day of and resume work the next day.

Good Luck.

I also had to stay on my back reclined backwards in the office for 30 mins to give the embryos time to settle down. After that I went home and was on bed rest for 48 hours. But I could lean on my side or stomach to sleep or take a break. I am now pregnant with twins. So you don't need to be fully on your back at all times.

Good luck.

I also had to lay down and relax for 30 minutes after the transfer.
After that my husband drove me to my acupunture appointment, then home to rest and relax for 2 days.
I did move about and get up for bathroom visits.
I am now pregnant with twins.

5 days seems very very excessive!!

Thank you girls! I have a very silly question, but I have to ask it. I sleep on my side at night, so after transfer what is the chance of embryos being "pushed around" to different positions? Or would they just attach to the place that they were put in originally by the doc and stay there?

Hi
I'm not a Dr. but I believe where they are is where they would stay. They don't move. Good luck

Mine moved. They were transferred to the top half of my uterus and implanted in the bottom half. Even if you're completely still (not possible) I'm not sure there's anything you can do about that. There's a theory that the ET causes uterine contractions which will make them move.

The best thing you can do is not to stress about it after ET. At that point it's largely out of your control whether they implant or not.

Thank you guys! I will try to take it easier and not get stressed, but I am such a nervous person in real life that I know it will be difficult. I know there must be threads somewhere in this forum dedicated to advice on how to behave during the 2ww. Does anyone knoe the link? Or maybe some new advice?

Of course they move, and sometimes they implant later trying to find the most comfi spot to stick in :)
After 2 days of bed rest you can live your normal life, except they don't recommend to take a bath(only shower),no exersizing, except walking and no sex and orgasm.
