Hi Everyone:

Well Stephanie got her first fever. 102.7 She is exposed to baby's once a week (she has 3 boyfriends that get together weekly) so I knew it would happen eventually.

Vacinnations- Wow. A lot of posting on this issue. My husband is a scienctist and feels the risk of not having them vacinated is more dangerous then having them vacinated. I agree but I sure wish they would find the cause of autism. It bothers me that this is so common and we still have not found the cause.

Life is good. I can't believe how fast all this goes. Stephie has 2 bottom teeth and 4 top teeth. Also she is pulling up on things most of the time which took over crawling. She likes to stand more. Walking won't be far off.

You get rid of the bumpers when they stand on them to get out of the crib.
That is what I read.

the problem with vaccinations and sutism was more linked to them getting multiple shots at one time not one paticular shot at a time. For example when they do 4 shots at a time. I do not allow it i will do 1 or 2 then come back in 2 weeks and then again if need be.. i also foundthat the child is less grumpy..

Hi Carolinagirl...I took the bumpers out of the cribs when I brought the babies home from the hospital - newborn. They NEVER slept on their backs (oh yeah for about 20 minutes at a time!) and once they moved from the bassinet next to my bed to their cribs at 2 months there was no way I was going to leave the bumpers there as they were scooting some and couldn't yet turn themselves over. It DID cause issues about them pressing their little heads against the bars but I saw this as better than them getting their face stuck between the mattress and the bumper. Guess what I am trying to say is there is no time too early to remove them.

Hi BD... thank you for your wise comments regarding vaccination protocols. It is just plain wise to spread out the vaccines. In the case of autism the issue really is the LIVE vaccines. There is an immune reaction in the body any time foreign substances are introduced into the body but there is a "special" reaction when a LIVE virus is introduced. That is why the MMR is the greatest suspect in causing autism - esp regressive autism. The LIVE virus has been known to be found STILL in the spinal fluid of children with severe autism YEARS after innoculation. It may be because a LIVE vaccine MUST have thimerisol in it to preserve it. Preserving it any other way (like maybe refrigeration? don't know but there has to be another way) would most likely be cost prohibitive. SO... MMR vaccinations are REQUIRED, required BEFORE a child's immune system has had a chance to mature a little, they no longer come separate AND it must contain a very harmful substance to keep its potency...Its a shame that money speaks louder than prudency. All we would have to do is WAIT!!! No one dies from MMorR anymore - in fact I HAD them as kid! I am NOT doing MMR until passed the age of 2 IF I do it at all.

In 2004, after an investigation by The Sunday Times,[28] the interpretation section of the study, which identified a general association in time between the vaccine and autism, was formally retracted by ten of Wakefield's twelve coauthors.[29] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,[30] the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences,[31] the UK National Health Service[32] and the Cochrane Library review[10] have all concluded that there is no evidence of a link between the MMR vaccine and autism.

In 2007 Wakefield became the subject of a General Medical Council disciplinary hearing over allegations that his research had received funding related to litigation against MMR-vaccine manufacturers, and had concealed this fact from the editors of The Lancet.[33] It was later revealed that Wakefield received £435,643 [about $780,000] plus expenses for consulting work related to the lawsuit. This funding came from the UK legal aid fund, a fund intended to provide legal services to the poor.[28] In 2009 The Sunday Times reported that Wakefield had manipulated patient data and misreported results in his 1998 paper, creating the appearance of a link with autism.[34]

I am a mother of an autistic son. There is not a single study in this lifetime that can be done that would "prove" to me that LIVE viruses AND thimerisal being introduced into a tiny developing immune system is not extremely harmful. I know hundreds of parents who SAW their children change right before their eyes.... NOT a coincidence. Since 1998 there have been PROVED cases where these innoculations have CAUSED regressive autism. Oh, and my son DID get "unexplained" intestinal problems thereafter as well...

I know there will always be believers on BOTH sides - until it happens right before your eyes...

I have decided I am doing NO MORE shots until after their second birthday and at that I will separate them by a minimum of one month. My son is exhibiting behaviors that are making me nervous - so I wait... and to what harm? No ones. And if he or she get the measles then they have natural immunity. I will not introduce thimerisal into their bodies - not in the MMR and not in the flu vaccine.

We may differ in opinion on this but I still love you all...

you know every vaccine ou can get without thimersal or little to no trace you just have to speak to ur dr and they may have to order it

Thank you BD. Unfortunately you can no longer get the MMR separately and therefore it no longer comes without thimerasol. Believe me I have been looking at EVERY angle.

At this point I really feel it should be up to parents as to WHEN to vaccinate but not being able to GET certain "mandated" vaccinations without a deadly poisonous toxin (always affects the nervous system whether you see it or not) is nothing short of assault. Its a shame really - I regularly speak with parents who have seen their child change right before their eyes. NJ has an autism rate of 1 in 96 now. It is also the state with MOST MANDATED vaccinations.

Tell us about YOU BD... how are you? How many babies? etc...

well i did fertility for 6yrs. I was 19 when i found out that i was in premature menaupaus. I started ivf right after i was married at age 20. I have had 7 successful bfp however 5 m/c's all but 1 of them in the 2nd trimester and 1 was a set of twins. I have 2 complete successes. my oldest dd turned 4 january 3rd and my last dd just turned 1yr old on sunday. I had my tubes tied after my last one. I had very dificult pregnacies and was told that it was not in the best interest of my health or another childs to have anymore and they could not guarantee my life next time. i was on complete bedrest for both their pregnacies.

My oldest morgan was born via emergency c-section 39weeks 6lbs 9oz 19.5 inches however is huge now she is 42 inches tall and 42 lbs

my younges was born at 37 weeks via c-section and was 7lbs 15oz and 22 inches long.

However about the shots my dr is very cool about me waiting for shots to when i want them to have them. They only thing is if your children are in childcare.

That was what i was wondering... we had a play date the other day with a friend and her 1 year old and miley just cried. we went to the park and usually she loves to swing but with all the kids around she cried. does she not like alot of people? i know she don't like when kids make loud noises it makes her cry. but after an hour or so she was fine and giving friends daughter kisses. maybe just takes her some time to warm up? and she started to rub her fingers together all the time. like she is rubbing on a blanket or something. even when she is just sitting there. maybe she is comforting herself?? we go in march for 9 month shots will talk to doc then about it. i hope she grows out of the people thing.....

The behaviors are those that I saw in my oldest... screaming and arching his back for no real reason, banging himself on his head when he gets frustrated, rocking... I am not saying he has autism but if he has a propensity toward those types of behaviors I am not willing to take the risk.

Carolinagirl - the behaviors you are describing about Miley sound like stranger anxiety setting in... I would not be worried about it. The best thing you can do is to help her to be sure that you are there and that you are not going away when she in the company of new people.

MILEY WILL HIT HER HEAD OFF OF THINGS TOO. LIKE HER HIGH CHAIR, WHEN SHE IS IN IT SHE WILL SIT THERE AND BANG HER HEAD OFF THE BACK OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Miley sounds fine...maybe she gets bored and does things like bang her head...The First 12 Months of Life is a good book to read (well, I think it is, for what it's worth)...I remember the doc talking about such behaviors as hitting heads against the wall...can't recall what he said but it was listed in one of the 'things' babies do at a certain month.

Don't worry she sounds lovely...so much to worry about with babies
