IVF #1 5 Day of Stims only 2 follies

Hello, I am doing a MDL flare protocol and its day 5 of stims, and so far I only have 2 follies on 1 ovary (I only have 1 ovary). The nurse said its still early and I may have to stim for 5 or so more days and it should get more active. She said many women go up to 14 Days on this protocol.

This is very worrysome to me bc I am on 225 Units of Brevelle and 225 Units of Menapur already plus 20 units of Lupron twice per day. It seems like a high dosage. My FSH was 9.6 at the start of this cycle.

Anyway, what day to they suggest canceling a cycle if it comes to that, and are my chances slim this time around??

hi - on my first cycle i only had 3 follies but went ahead - and they had 3 eggs - 2 of which fertilised but unfortunately was a BFN - you only need one egg remember

Ok just to clarify are you saying you to 20 of Lupron twice a day?
Cause that would be a lot!

I would ask them if you can lower your Lupron dose, there is plenty of time still to grow more follies.

mandolin - I did a MDL flare protocol as well - and while 20 units twice a day sounds like a lot - it is actually a different dosage than the normal "unit" given during a long lupron protocol. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Your stim medications might be able to be increased. I did 225 units of Follistim twice a day with my MDL procotol. I am a little surprised your RE has you doing so much menopur because that includes both FSH and LH and you shouldn't need supplemental LH with a MDL protocol (at least, that is what my RE says). On the MDL protocol, I only had 2 follies on each side - which sounds in alignment with you and from those, I got 2 good embies. Keep your chin up - it's been said before....but it only takes one!
