Renee - that is amazing.

I fully believe in surrender and letting go. My whole last cycle I had a real let go attitude and was just preparing to give up. Sometimes the tension of a cycle (and all the other tension it creates) just does no good at all.

Best wishes in bringing the family back together and taking care of your DH and son.

Renee - OMG that is such wonderful news! I've had a couple of friends get pregnant naturally at 40. Congratulations!

Like stefanie, I'd more or less thrown in the towel on my last cycle. I think unclenching and destressing really must do something positive.

Congratulations Renee!!
Guess what? I'm in the same boat!! :D
Our first FET failed in December and we decided to try again with the remaining two embryos in Feb or March. We did try on our own (using the ClearBlue Ovulation Monitor) the cycle following the failed FET. But then exactly at the time of the expected period, I started bleeding. It lasted only two days and then a very light third day. Quite unusual for me, but I figured it was a fluke. Then, three weeks into a new cycle I start bleeding again. I'm thinking WTF?? It's way too early to have another period! I bleed for overnight (period like) and then it stops. I called the nurse at RE's office and she made me POAS at home. I was like, yea, whateva! Well, I did and it was a BFP! I went to do the blood test yesterday and according to the levels, I'm close to 6 weeks pg!!! I'm speechless! And I was completely unaware! Now, I'm freaking out about my NY champagne and my 2-3 cups of coffee per day I've been drinking. Hopefully not much damage done. Go figure! After three years of being so timed and careful and precise and cautious and spending thousands of dollars! To get pg by ourselves AND be completely oblivious is ironic to say the least!
Supposed to call for a US next week. They'll be looking for a heart beat. I'm in a daze! I'm so concerned that me living a regular life for the last 5-6 weeks has already jeopardized smth :( I've seen too many stories about m/c here :( And I'm concerned about the bleedings I had...

msfixit - wow. that is just amazing news! congrats!

Look don't worry about that stuff. Most people don't know they are pregnant for 6 weeks and drink and do all kinds of stuff. just let any extra worrying go, and make a good diet and action plan going forward, you know? try not to let anything spoil this absolutely miraculous turn of events.

I have a friend who go pregnant on a trip to Ireland and was drinking tons of beer every night.

I know It's hard for us who have struggled so hard to get PG, but take it easy, and be good to yourself until you see the doc.

and again, heartfelt congratulations.

Misfixit - YEY, I am so happy for you. CONGRATS!!!!! That is awesome. Like Stefaine said I wouldn't worry too much about what you have been eating and drinking having a affect on the baby. From what I have read that the baby doesn't start taking nutrients from the mothers body till around 6 weeks. You will be all right. Enjoy being PG!!! Congrats once again. Keep us posted on your u/s.

Stefanie - how have you been doing? I check every once in awhile on the pg after IVF board just to check up. I guess the May board isn't too busy. I see where you guys started a new board. Funny on how touchy some women can get.

As for me, I started stims for my 5th cycle on Jan 30. I have switched RE's, I am in the same clinic but differen RE. I am so glad. This guy seems like he cares a lot more. I went in for my baseline U/S and B/W and they saw something in my uterus. He said that they have seen it before on my u/s. Anyway that was on Thursday, so on Friday my RE did and HSG. They put a scope in my uterus and pulled out a Fibroid. My RE said that it wasn't causing any problems for me getting PG but he just wanted to get it out of there. I went to my other RE for 4 cycles and she never once mentioned anything about this fibroid. Now I am taking 150u follistim and 75u of menopure. Hoping to stim slowly and steady so I can get some good quality eggs.

msfixit - Tons of congrats! Wow, what a lucky bunch we have been. I agree with Stefanie, please don't sweat the alcohol. And the bleeding seems to be so very common too. Keep us posted on your U/S. Yay, so exciting.

Chris - sounds like things are looking positive for this cycle for you. I'm so glad they got that fibroid out. I don't think my former RE would have proceeded without removing one if she'd found it. I had a uterine adhesion that she removed prior to my IVF cycles. She said the same thing, that it wouldn't have prevented pregnancy, but that it could have caused complications and even miscarriage. During the surgery she also found around 20 uterine polyps which she also removed. I'll be checking in to see how the cycle unfolds for you!

Chris - great to hear that your new RE is so much better than the last! And good riddance to that fibroid!

As for me, well, it was too good to be true

Had our first u/s yesterday. The baby is not viable. While there's a heart beat, it's very slow (about 80, when it should be close to 150 or so) and the size of the fetus is too small. It's lagging in the development by about 2 weeks. The doc says, there's no hope. They'll wait a week for me to miscarry and if I don't, they'll force it. Pretty devastating... Having a hard time dealing with it... I knew for three days that I was pregnant and then had it taken away. I can't even fathom how women who have miscarriages after knowing and being pregnant for 10, 12, 16 etc weeks!

Well, at least I got pregnant. That's the first time in the three years we've been trying that we actually got that far. And on our own, no less.
Maybe, there's still hope for us...

msfixit - So sorry. I know any m/c is devastating weather it has been 3 days or 16 weeks. At least now you know that your body knows how to get PG. That is a big part in all of this. Are you going to continue to try on your own? My BF did IVF about 6 years ago. They had MF and also she had bad eggs. They got a BFN, but then while waiting to do another cycle she got PG on her own. That ended up being a M/C but 2 months later she was PG again. Now has almost a 6yo Son. So you never know what will happen. Wishing you the best of luck.

As for me. I have been stimming for 5 days. I have 4 measurable follies the largest being a 14.5 and then 3 that are less then 10. I am not too happy about the follie count but I am not going to stress over it. For some reason I have this calming feeling that this cycle will be the one. Don't know why I have this, maybe I am just so used to the ups and downs my body is numb. I am still not getting my hopes up.

Sorry to hear your news msfixit. You are right, it is a good thing that you now know you can get pregnant! Take as much time as you need emotionally before your next cycle though.

tohavefun - Well, your follies still have some time to catch up! 5 days is a pretty short amount of time. Maybe even new ones will pop up? I remember my IVF cycle and follies kept popping up ;)

Thanks guys for your support. I have an appt on Monday where we'll see what's going on. Did anybody ever hear about fetuses catching up? I know I'm grasping at straws, but still...

Most likely, Monday will be a day of decision between natural m/c and D&C. I have read/heard HORROR stories about natural m/c. Considering, my issues and that I ALWAYS have extra painful reactions when it comes to anything gynecological (ended up in ER during my IVF - "unusual pain reaction", yeah, right), I don't have a good feeling about waiting for a natural m/c. I just shudder when I think about it. Did anybody ever have a D&C? I know there's some risk of scarring, but there are so many pros too - scheduled procedure, minimal pain, being "out of it" during the whole thing and fairly fast and manageable recovery. Plus, I figure, RE's are better at these kind of surgeries than a regular doc, as all they deal with is abnormalities in the reproductive system. I dunno. There's no win in this choice :(

You never know, your little bean could catch up!

I took a third option which was to chemically induce the m/c. Inserted misoprostol pills at 6 am. Started having cramps at 10 and the whole thing was done by noon. RE also gave me a Percocet Rx but it was still pretty painful between ten and noon. My RE told me this was the best way to go to leave my uterine lining in the best shape for a future cycle. I've heard plenty of stories here though where a D and C worked out fine for ladies. It's no easy decision any route you go.
