leftover endometrin free to good home

Post by Kas101 »

I have 21 doses of 100mg endometrin that expires 2010..... It may not seem like a lot but if you are self pay (like me) it will help - its one weeks supply (if you are on 3 a day).

This is medication from my first round of IVF but as you can see it is still in date and has been stored in a cool dark place (the closet!). Please pm me if you want it.... :D

Do you ever get over the 'messiness' of using Endometrin? It has got to be better than the dreaded progesterone shots, right?! I am only on day 5 of using them, but I have a needle phobia. Also, is the 'pressure' I have been feeling below my uterus from the Endometrin or from the retrieval (which was last Monday)?

Wow, triplets! A bundle of joy, times 3!!! :D Congrats!!!

Labs I understand not wanting the PIO as the needles are pretty rough. I was fine with the stimming needles, no issues, i injected myself both cycles, but the PIO hurts me most times but thankfully my amount has been slowly reduced and now i'm only doing it every other day (and down from 2ml to only 1/2 ml now, so i will survive)

As someone who has taken both the endometrin and the PIO if i was allowed to choose what to take it would be the endometrin every time!!!! It isnt painful and ok, its messy and there might be that little bit of irritation as the weeks go by, but nothing compared to the PIO which has left such huge lumps all over my butt, numbness and pain that has woken me up at night (when i was on 2ml a day).

My tip for surviving the endometrin is for the morning dose, put it in early, then get back into bed for 40 mins, have a coffee etc and let it settle. I used to put the 2nd one in when i got back from work, again lay on the bed for 40 mins afterwards and the 3rd dose i put in when i got into bed at night. This minimises leakage but you do need to use a liner (after 5 days i'm sure you know this by now!!) All the progesterone is apparantly absorbed within the first 30 mins or so, and the stuff that comes out is just the rest of the pill so dont worry, or think that you didnt get enought because its all on the liner. You got your dose if it stayed in for that absorbtion time ...

Good luck with everything and hope the endometrin doesnt bother you too much as time goes by!!!!! :D

Thanks for the tips Kas! I will definitely be sticking with the Endometrin, as just the hcg shot was painful for about 4 days after. I can handle the mess, just a big baby when it comes to the IM shots!

Hi Kas,

I wanted to ask you if you have the suppositories and like them better, why are you doing the PIO? Just curious.

Thanks!

Hey!!

I did the PIO this time as i had a new RE. We had to temporarily relocate this fall so i went to a new RE and i did ask of i could do the endometrin again, but he said no... He doesnt use anything but PIO :( I am really fed up of it but only a few more days, so i wont complain :)

I guess after 12 weeks on endometrin i would be beging to stop that too!!
So are you in the 2ww???? where are you at in your cycle??

Kas,

I am in my 2ww. We had the retrieval on 1/26, with the transfer on 1/28. They told me to test on 2/9. We have not made it this far before as our 1st IVF was cancelled due to only have 2-3 follies. We were on 5 units of Lupron and 2 vials of Bravelle in the am and 3 in the pm for that cycle (they bumped me to 3 and 3 on day 5). This cycle, we were on 20 units of the micro-dose Lupron, and 225 of Gonal F in the am and pm. I responded much better this time around, 7 eggs retrieved. After the cancelled cycle, I tried to keep my emotions in check, not wanting to expect too much. One day at a time and lots of prayer! We only had 3 fertilize, so the RE suggested inserting all 3 little beans, one was a 3-cell grade 1 and the other two were 2-cell grade 1. Our RE was pleased at that point, so we are hopeful, but like I said, we don't want to get too excited. February 9th can't come soon enough though!!!!!

It sounds like this cycle went much better for you.... I too had a bad first cycle, i responded poorly and only got 4 eggs, 3 fertilized and we put back all 3 but BFN. This cycle i did a different protocol (a flare) and it worked so much better. A few follies got too big and we had to let them go but i still got 9 eggs, and 8 fertilized. This time we put 4 back to be 'more aggressive' as my RE put it, well we are very shocked to get 3 beans as they were only 3 day embies (i've seen all take with blasts but never 3 day embies). Thats why i believe this is such a crapshoot, you never can tell...

Good luck with the 2ww its torture i know, and let me know how you get on, i'm excited to find out!!!! :D
