Embarrassing question: OK to have sex before FET?

This is embarrassing, but I’ll ask anyway: does anyone know if it’s okay to have sex the night before an FET?

How about during the 2ww?

Just wondering. We’d like to pretend it’s natural if it’s okay.

I can completely understand wanting to pretend that it is a natural pregnancy. My DH and I felt the same way and I was able to go in with him for his sample for the IVF.

First question, I'm not positive, but I think you can't have sex before a frozen cycle. I have only had fresh cycles, but i know that like it to be undisturbed.

Second, I was told no sex during the 2ww. Actually, I was told no sex after I started taking BCP's until either 1.) I got a BFN or 2) I gor a BFP and had my first ultrasound.

Hi - I not had FET - but on both my fresh cycles was told protected sex only from as soon as start down regging and definite no no in 2WW - am sure it would be the same for FET too

my clinic recomends sex the night before retrieval as there is some evidence that having sperm there can help implantation ..but not after until after the first ultrasound..

DH and i did not do it though... he couldnt get into it...but we re on IVF #6...

About the time I posted here, I e-mailed the clinic. The nurse responded, “Yes..its OK. I asked Dr _________”

I also did a Google search. I found a handful of posts where people said their REs advised it (andorphins etc.) Who knows?

Sometimes it’s such a fine line between science and voodoo.

siouxsie, i had sex the night before (or was it 2 nights before) my FET transfer. i had a BFP! so now we are secretly pleased that we don't know whether it was one of the transferred embies or our natural efforts.

DH is especially pleased.

When I ask our IVF nurse she said sex before tranfer is fine on an FET but not after. We were told not to have sex for a longer period before our retreval becuase we might ovulate, but durring a frozed cycle (at least at our clinic) I've been on Lupron to prevent natural ovulation while preparing my linning. You should ask, you don't know what protocol is at your clinic and you don't want to make a mistake if you can help it.

The reason why they don't want you to have sex AFTER the transfer is that if you have an orgasm or your uterus gets somewhat exited,it might interfere with implantation that takes place during first 10 days when embryo buries itself in the uterine wall. So it's better to leave it alone for the first 2ww.
