Advice Please

Post by packer12freeserve »

Hello,
We are hoping that someone out there may be having or had the same problem we are having and might be able to offer us some advice. We have now had 3 attempts at full IVF and 3 attempts with frozen embryo's but with no luck as yet.We have no problems producing eggs and also no problem with fertilisation infact we are lucky enough for our embryo's to reach blastocyst stage but the problem is after we have the embryo's implanted that is far as we get and we don't understand why they are not implanting and the hospital just say that it is normal and as we all know there are no guarantees. We however feel that there must be a problem but don't know what and what to do next as to try and find out and if there is anymore tests i could get done.Any advice or information anyone can give us we would really appreciate.
Thank You Very Much,
Nicky & Andy

Hi Nick and Andy,

I'm in Australia, so have no idea if our practices are in any way alligned with the UK, but think they might be quite similar. I understand that assisted hatching can be relly useful for couples who have implantation difficulties, from what I've read it involves boring away a little bit of the "shell" of the embryo so that it attaches itself more readily to the uterus wall. I've also recently read about "embryoglue", a glue substance that they insert with the embies that apaprently helps them stick. There's a bit of controversy with this product though from what I gather. There are concerns that the glue might result in an embie sticking around that otherwise might be damaged in some way that under normal circumstances wouldn't have attached. Would be worth discussing these options with your doctor. :D
Welcome to the website by the way, is a fabulous chance to chat with women who are experiencing IVF in all of its various forms. Look forward to hearing more about your expereinces and look forward to your success'! :D

Gosh, you have been through a lot. I am so sorry to hear that the treatments have not worked yet. I really hope you get the positive you want soon.

The only advice I can offer is Chinese medication and acupuncture. I'm not sure what you feel about alternative medicine but chinese medicine and acupuncture is said to be really good. Sometimes our wombs are just not in good enough condition and need to be realigned (and to get the energy flowing through it). I am no expert at this ... but have been to see a chinese doctor and this is what he said. Other girls on here have really rated acupuncture..

What is the reason for your infertility difficulties (is it anything to do with damaged tubes).

Hi

I was also going to recommend giving acupuncture a go. I am currently having 1 session per week through a Chinese Medicine Doctor and also I drink a herbal brew twice a day and take 48 tablets a day (OMG) But - it is supposed to re-align the womb and strengthen the blood flow, especially to the womb in order embryos can implant!

My next EC is 1 June, so I am hoping for a positive this time, with the help of the foul brews and acupuncture!

Definately worth looking into - good luck xx!!!
1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!

hihi niki
what hospital our u at ?, it does seem surprizing that u have so
many -itvies
considering your embryos have reach blastocyst.
Due to my age (last year 42) after my first failed attempt i had
assisted hatching something they do use for older women, so not
sure of your age.
Also on my 4th attempt at the lister i had a blood test for NK cells
(killer cells) amf i was border line so i was given steroids while
i was on the 2 ww, and after finding out it was a +itve i continued
with the steroids till 12 wks.
Reading some of the girls messages previously some of them are at
ARGC who look at tests regarding cromosone problems etc,
something i think the lister are just starting to do.
Perhaps it might be worth giving them a call.
I hope this helps.
