2 week wait buddies

Post by *Ert* »

Hi,

I am currently starting my two week wait. I had 2 embryos transferred on Thursday as a day 3 transfer. Both of them had 8 cells and the doctor graded them as a 2. He compared that to a B+. We are so happy we got this far. We hit a lot of speed bumps this past month.

I just want to see if there is anyone else how is in their two week wait. Maybe we can cheer each other on.

This is my first time ever posting. I am also in 2WW. They retrieved 7 eggs on Monday, of which 3 fertilized. At my age, 38, with that amount of eggs, they transferred all 3 on day 2. I am a little nervous about the day 2 transfer, but they said they would have a much better chance in my uterus than in a petri dish. One was a 6 cell grade 1 (best it can be at that point) and the other ones were a 4 cell grade 1 (next best at that point). This whole process has been very emotional (our first IVF was cancelled to only have 3 mature follies), so I don't want to get my hopes up. We are just taking it one day at a time.

Good luck!

Hi Labstoo

My doctor said the same thing about having the embryos in my uterus over the lab. In the beginning they said if they can they would want to do a day 5 transfer because they see more success with that. When they said it would be a day 3 I asked if that was because the embryos were not good. The doctor said it had nothing to do with that. He said since we already know the two that are the best we should put those in now because my uterus is a better environment then the lab. My other two embryos were a 4 cell with a lot of fragmentation and a 6 cell. He said the 6 cell may make it to freeze.

That sound really good that yours are a grade 1. Right on track to what they should be for day 2.

We are taking it one day at a time too. I hope it is not too hard to do for 2 weeks. We just have to keep ourselves busy and stay positive!!!

I’ll cheer along.

I’m also in 2ww. Had our FET Friday morning. Amazingly, all 5 survived the thaw. More amazingly they suggested transferring all 5. We did. Wow. (1 was fragmented so the chance of that one hitting is very low, then I have 2 5 cell and 2 8 cell)

We have our first beta 2/9; how about you?

Siouxsie,

That sounds pretty promising and wondeful that all your embryos surrived. My beta is on 9/10. One day after you.

I am starting to get discouraged. Every month a week before my period I start to get very very light cramps on and off throughout the day. I started to feel that yesterday and today. I am not sure when I would get my period because this is my first IVF and I am on progesterone, but next week would be two weeks after my egg retrieval and transfer. How many times have you done IVF?

Thanks, Ert.

I’ve done one other IVF cycle. I was pregnant with twins, but lost both, one at 7 weeks and one at 14. So I don’t know the answer to your question since I didn’t have a period for months after that. I’m really not sure what effect progesterone has. I tend to have long cycles myself, so even if negative I wouldn’t start expecting it until about 2/16 (which is after the beta.)

Still, I think it’s important to stay positive until the beta and not over think. Last time I was sure it was negative and it turned out positive. (Hopefully, this time we’ll make it to term.) So, try relax. I know it’s hard!

Last time, we went on vacation about half a week after the transfer. (Timing was purely coincidental.) But, in retrospect, that was definitely a much better way to do it. We were occupied and having fun so we didn’t stress. We didn’t even have cell reception due to the location, so I didn’t even get the results until a few days after they were available.

Siouxsie,

Wow, I am sorry for everything you have been through. That had to be very hard. I guess the good thing is that you know embryos have implanted before so you have a really good chance this time, especially with 5. I guess the worrying never ends.

I was telling my husband the other day I wish we were on vacation for this waiting process, but at the same time going to work sure takes my mind off of it for awhile. Although today I found out my co-workers are talking about why I was out 3 days last week. I am a teacher and I missed parent conferences. They were the day of my transfer. My principal and one other friend from work know and that is it. It is hard not to avoid gossip when you work in a building of women :D

I noticed you said you were trying since 04. Did you guys do other things before IVF? We have done 3 IUI's with clomid. My husband has low counts, motility, etc. They only thing they found with me is that I might not ovulate every month.

This is definitely a lesson on patience.

Hello Ladies! Newly registered to website. It is so nice to actually have people I can relate to!

I am 35,DH is 44. This is our 1st IVF cycle. Tried on our own for 4 years. Finally went to Re, nice guy. Had ER on 1-25, 7 eggs 4 mature 3 fertilized. 3 transferred on 1-28. Having pregnancy test on 2-11. This 2WW stinks. I have read other forums seems that ladies like to POAS. I am tempted but from what I have read not quite accurate. So here I am waiting, and waiting, and waiting..........
IVF #1 ER 1-25-09 7eggs 3 fertilized(ICSI)
ET 1-28-09 3 embies
Beta 2-11-09 BFN

Let them talk. I told my boss (who is very supportive), but not my coworkers. It is hard enough dealing with friends who don’t really get it. A few asked me if my long weekend was fun etc and I gave a non-committal, “I have other things to take care of.” I figured if anyone pushed I’d say it was a medical issue. I am very skittish about sharing because I once had a pregnant coworker who lost her baby. She left the job shortly thereafter, I think in no small part due to the agony of having to tell people over and over. Even when I hit 14 weeks I hadn’t told even though it was starting to get obvious, and now I’m really glad.

Honestly, we wasted a lot of time in denial. 1 year of just sex. Then, BBT charts and ovulator kits. Testing. Diagnosed PCOS, then received contradictory opinions. Accupuncture. By the time I got serious, they discovered the elevated FSH (last spring) and they said my only chance was IVF and that I should do it asap. We were so overjoyed when we got the BFP and thought our ordeal was over. Then, we had the ancephaly. We were really not prepared for that. The stats are like 1 in 1000. Now our chance of reoccurrence is 3-5%. Take your folic acid! (I am now on mega-doses.)

It is hard to deal sometimes and easy to start feeling sorry for yourself. But, there is always positive stories out there so I try to stay hopeful (especially for this Monday) and there are also many stories of women who have gone through much worse.

RosiePosie
Welcome, Rosie. The wait is rough. I am trying to be zen about it. For the moment, I can stay positive and hopeful which is an okay feeling. Once we know, we’ll either be saddened by the negative or worried about the next milestone with a positive.

I did go so far as to look up sensitivity of POAS. But, I came to the conclusion, that the clinic wants to know almost as much as I do and if it was a good idea to test earlier they would have scheduled me earlier.

Hanging in there? When’s your beta?

Sorry, I guess I’m feeling chatty.

Hi Ladies!

Welcome Siouxsie and RosiePosie!

I am still hanging in there. I actually went back to work today since my ET on 1/28. I guess its good to help keep my mind off the wait, which sucks! I go for my first beta on 2/9. Tempted, I bought 2 pregnancy tests on the way home, but made myself promise I wouldn't use them! I agree with you Siouxsie, if the doctor wanted to know earlier, the beta would be scheduled earlier.

A little more about me. I have a DD from a previous marriage. Actually, I was 18 when I got pregnant, 19 when I delivered. I was going through college and then had my job, and having more kids was the farthest thing from my mind. Little did I know I would have trouble later down the road. The first marriage didn't work out and my DH and I have been married for almost 7 years and have been trying since late 2003!!! Neither of us has any issues, so it is unexplained. I hate that!! Anyway, we have tried 4 IUI's, had 1 cancelled IVF (so I guess, another IUI) and now are on our 2nd IVF. We had been saving for awhile for the IVF and then my DH got a job with a company that covers infertility! :D We used the money to pay off bills so that when we get the BFP (and we will, I know in my heart it will happen for us...it is God's plan), that I can be a stay-at-home mommy!! My dream job!!

My DD is now a freshman in college (man, am I that old!!??) and is so supportive of our decision to go through with this crazy process. She is our biggest cheerleader! She used to ask Santa for a brother or sister!

So answer me this. At first, my bb's were so sore (from the hcg), now they are just a little sore. I am thinking it is the hcg wearing off, but maybe it means AF is coming. I hate to read into things and try not to, but this has me bothered. Any of you experience this?

Beta on Monday...only 5 more days!!!!

Prayers and good thoughts to all!

Hi Ladies,

I am so happy our little group is growing!! Hopefully our little embryos are too :D

I can not do those home pregnancy tests. I did them for so long and always got upset. I told my husband that I will do one once we get the positive from the doctor just so I can see what the two pink lines look like.

Labstoo
My boobs started hurting after my trigger shot too and have not stopped. I am also taking progesterone. I took that as well after my IUI's and always got sore boobs. I always thought it was from the progesterone. I really think it can be anything from the meds, to maybe being pregnant, to pms. Last night I woke up a bunch because if I was laying on my stomach my boobs hurt and if I layed on my back or right side my bottom hurt from the progesterone shots. Are you guys doing the progesterone shots? Are you pretty sore from them? I ice before and then put a heating pad on after but it still hurst a lot the next day.

siouxsie
I know what you mean about just letting them talk at work. All that matters is that my principal is supportive which she is. She is the one I have to report to not everyone else. She keeps telling me not to worry about missing work because this is a priority. I am so thankful she understands.

It looks like we are all right in line for our beta tests. 9th, 10th, and 11th. Are you guys just going crazy?

Thanks for sharing your story.

I’m on a FET so I didn’t have the HCG, but I still have sore boobs on and off (I assume from the Estrace and/or progesterone). I read another post from a lady who experienced both BFN and BFP and said there was no discernable difference in symptoms. So, I’m trying not to read into it. During last two pregnancies, I never had morning sickness and I was practically begging for it just to feel some security.

*Ert*
I’m doing the progesterone suppositories. Messy but painless.

Frankly, this whole process is driving me crazy. No matter what results we get, I know I’ll never be quite the same as I was before.

Hey Ladies,

Yes Ert, our little group it growing! I am also on the suppositories, Endometrin. I am a big wuss with the IM shots and opted for the suppositories (and they were covered under my insurance). And yes Siouxsie, they are very messy, but I would take it over the shots any day!I never stopped to think that the sore bbs were from the progesterone. With my first cancelled IVF, I wasn't put on the progesterone, but got the really sore bbs after the hcg.

During my first pregnancy (albeit 19 years ago) I had really bad morning sickness. I would love a sign like that! Also, heartburn, but later on. Although, I didn't even know I was pregnant until like 8 weeks or so.

Anyway, baby dust to all! :D

hello ladies, I had my FET on 2/2 and my BETA is on 2/16. I am having some mild cramping and my bb's are sore but other than that just feeling normal. I am still on the estradiol and progesterone shots. Talking about co-workers, one of mine is going through the same thing as us and she found out that I had 4 embryos put back in and tonight at work she says "I am going to be really upset if you get pregnant before me". That was a real shock to me but what ever..........

BABY DUST TO ALL OF US

2WW

Post by Carmen »

Hello everyone!

I am currently taking it day by DAY during my 2WW. This is my VERY first post EVER!

I am 28 years old and my DH is 34. I have crohn's disease and ulcertaive colitis. Years of steroid use to treat my crohn's/colitis and asthma as a child has led to loads of trouble with my adrenal glands. Furthermore I have PCOS.

We had one IUI, almost one year ago. It was a negative...I didn't even go in for my beta's! It was too sad! The IUI cost SO much money that we decided to save up and move directly on to IVF.

We just completed our first IVF cycle. The ER was 1-23-09 and we transfered 2 blastocysts day 5, 1-28-09. I go in for my first beta on 2-9-09 and I am SUPER anxious!!!!!
